The Elmhurst Police Department recently reported the following arrests and citations. Persons charged with domestic battery are not named in order to protect the privacy of victims. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a conviction, and that subjects are considered innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. Juveniles age 17-or-younger are not named.
Battery
Oct. 31
Kaneel D. Walker, 26, of Chicago, was charged with two counts of battery in the 100 block of Evergreen at around 9:21 p.m. Police said Walker was found to have punched the victim in the face, causing her lip to swell and bleed.
Oct. 28
Mario Milazzo, 40, of West Chicago, was charged with battery in the 200 block of W. Lake at around 11:52 a.m. According to police, a victim told police that Milazzo pushed him to the ground and struck him several times. The victim complained of pain, but sustained no other visible injuries, police said. Medics
arrived on scene and transported the victim to Elmhurst Hospital for treatment. The reporting officer met with Milazzo, who stated he grabbed the victim by the jacket and threw him to the ground, according to police.
Oct. 27
A reporting officer met with the victim in the 200 block of E. South who told police he was battered by a coworker while completing a job at the above location. The victim sustained injuries to his face, left hand, and chest. The victim did not have the suspect’s full name but provided the reporting officer with a phone number. This case is pending investigation.
Criminal damage
Nov. 2
Police said officers responded to Pioneer Park for the report of a damaged porta potty. Officers observed the door to the porta potty had been removed from its hinges and stickers had. been placed on the shelter covering the porta potty. The suspects were observed in the park, but denied damaging the property. The Elmhurst Park District was notified of the damage.

Nov. 2
A complainant in the 500 block of W. St. Charles told police at around 4:03 p.m. that he observed an unknown suspect, described as an Hispanic male, around 25 years old, 6-foot and wearing a dark coat, a white shirt and black pants, hit a female Hispanic and push her into the bushes in the parking lot of a bank. The male and the female subject left the area in a black Chevy Suburban with tinted windows, large tires, a large front grill or bumper, and possibly a lifted frame. Officers checked the area for the vehicle and subjects with no results.
Nov. 1
A 52-year-old Elmhurst man was charged with domestic battery in the 400 block of S. Parkside at around 12:11 a.m. Police said officers responded for the report of a suspect screaming in the rear of a residence. Upon arrival, the suspect told police that subsequent to an argument, he slapped the victim’s face.
Oct. 30
Police said officers responded to the 600 block of S. Bryan at around 8:28 a.m. for the report of a domestic battery. The reporting officer met with the complainant who stated her son battered her following a verbal argument. The suspect denied having physical contact with the complainant and stated the complainant slapped an object out of his hand. No arrests were made due to conflicting statements and no signs of injury.

Oct. 31
Vanessa Berrum, 19, of Addison, was charged with DUI-drugs, unlawful possession of adult use cannabis, possession of drug paraphernalia and improper lane usage subsequent to a traffic stop near Route 83 and St. Charles at around 10:45 p.m.
Francisco Cazares-Ramos, 38, of Chicago, was charged with aggravated DUI, driving while license revoked and improper lane usage subsequent to a traffic stop near Addison and North at around 8:42 p.m.
Fernando Roman-Mendez, 33, of Chicago, was charged with DUI, illegal transportation of open alcohol, no valid driver’s license, disobeying a traffic control device, improper lane usage and no insurance subsequent to a traffic stop near North and Wilson at around 1:23 a.m.
Melissier Shields, 40, of Chicago, was charged with DUI, resisting a police officer, illegal transportation of open alcohol improper lane usage and disobeying a traffic control device subsequent to a traffic stop near North and York at around 2:14 a.m.
Issac Tavizon, 29, of Chicago, was charged with DUI-drugs, unlawful possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and improper parking on the roadway subsequent to a report of a driver passed out behind the wheel near North and York at around 2:50 p.m.

Lauren Cappelletti, 29, of Elmhurst, was charged with DUI and disobeying a stop sign subsequent to a traffic stop near W. Second and N. Addison at around 10:19 p.m.
Nallely Silva-Hernandez, 26, of Elmhurst, was charged with DUI and improper lane usage subsequent to a traffic stop near E. St. Charles and S. Kenmore at around 12:17 a.m.
Corey Turner, 26, of Bolingbrook, was issued a citation for possession of open alcohol by a passenger in a vehicle subsequent to a traffic stop near N. Route 83 and W. Lake at around 11:48 p.m.
Oct. 29
Andre McEwen, 38, of Chicago, was charged with DUI-drugs, unlawful possession of a controlled substance, aggravated driving while license revoked, driving the wrong way down a divided highway, disobeying a traffic control signal, failure to signal and no insurance subsequent to a traffic stop near W. Lake and Route 83 at around 11:45 p.m.
Fleeing, eluding
Oct. 24
Courtnie Blakeley, 24, of Chicago, was charged with fleeing and eluding, driving while license suspended and failure to signal near York and Lake at around 1 a.m. Police said a reporting officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle for failure to signal at the above intersection. The suspect allegedly fled from the reporting officer in the vehicle and was last seen heading eastbound on I-290. An ISPERN message was broadcast. Subsequent to investigation, the reporting officer located the vehicle on Oct. 28 and conducted a traffic stop, according to police.
Fugitive from justice
Nov. 3
Police said that subsequent to a traffic stop near St. Charles and Poplar at around 10:42 a.m., Joshua J. King, 22, of Villa Park, was found to have a valid warrant from Ingham County (Mich.) Sheriff’s Office for violating his probation. King was charged with fugitive from justice and speeding.
Nov. 2
Police said an officer observed a vehicle in the 500 block of W. Grand at around 10:17 p.m. which had been reported stolen and conducted a traffic stop. The vehicle was confirmed as stolen, according to police. Police said the driver, James E. Kalenian, 58, of Villa Park, was found to have two valid warrants from the DuPage County Sheriff’s Office, one valid warrant from the Wisconsin Department of Corrections, one valid warrant from the Walworth
County Wis. Sheriff’s Office, a revoked driver’s license and was in possession of open alcohol. Kalenian was charged with two counts of fugitive from justice, criminal trespass to a vehicle, transportation of open alcohol and driving while license revoked.
Harassment, threats
Nov. 3
A complainant in the 100 block of E. Lake told police at around 5:21 p.m. that while returning to his friend’s house, a suspect exited his vehicle and accused the complainant of harassing his daughter. The suspect left the scene when the complainant dialed 911. The suspect was located and said he had asked the complainant why he attempted to speak to his daughter. The complainant did not wish to sign complaints.

Police said a reporting officer met with the complainant in the 100 block of W. Diversey who stated a suspect called her employer requesting information on her schedule sometime between the above dates. The complainant did not wish to have any further communication with the suspect. The suspect was advised to cease all contact with the complainant.

Nov. 5
Fidel Romero, 20, of Berwyn, was issued citations for unlawful possession of cannabis by a driver, improper lane usage and no insurance subsequent to a traffic crash near York and Butterfield at around 1:50 a.m.
Nov. 4
Isaiah Del Toro, 18, of Bellwood, was issued citations for unlawful possession of cannabis by a driver, operating a vehicle while using an electronic communications device, no valid driver’s license and no insurance subsequent to a traffic stop in the 700 block of W. St. Charles at around 11:32 a.m.
John A. Keys, 21, of Romeoville, was issued a citation for possession of adult use cannabis in a vehicle subsequent to a traffic stop near St. Charles and Monterey at around 11:17 a.m.
Nov. 3
Jillian B. Costabile, 36, of Melrose Park, was charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia at a hotel in the 300 block of N. Route 83 at around 1:40 p.m. Police said an officer responded to a report of a suspect who entered the hotel and appeared to be disoriented. According to police, Costabile admitted to ingesting a bag of heroin and was found
to be in possession of numerous bags of heroin and drug paraphernalia.
Alexandria Champ, 30, of Chicago, was issued a citation for unlawful possession of cannabis by a driver near Roosevelt and York at around 2:09 p.m.

Lee V. Hardrick, 24, of Bolingbrook, was issued citations for possession of adult use cannabis in a vehicle and no insurance subsequent to a traffic stop near W. Butterfield and S. York at around 12:45 p.m.
DeAngelo M. Pinkston, 21, of Chicago, was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance, speeding and no valid driver’s license subsequent to a traffic stop near E. St. Charles and S. Kenilworth at around 11:28 a.m.
Oct. 29
Aguirre Armando, 34, of Elmhurst, was issued a citation for possession of cannabis in a vehicle in the 400 block of N. York at around 9:07 p.m.
Jose Mendez, 19, of Melrose Park, was issue citations for possession of cannabis in a vehicle, possession of drug paraphernalia by a person under 21 and tinted windows near W. North and N. Glade at around 8:53 p.m.
Navaid Siddiqui, 42, of Glen Ellyn, was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance, improper registration and failure to signal subsequent to a traffic stop near W. Grand and W. Lake at around 7:36 p.m.
Suspicious circumstances
Nov. 2
While on patrol, an officer observed a suspicious vehicle near Elm and Grantley at around 2:10 a.m. Subsequent to a traffic stop a suspect was found to be driving a vehicle with different VIN numbers. The Illinois Secretary of State Police responded to the scene and towed the vehicle for investigative purposes. The
driver of the vehicle was transported to the police station for a fingerprint inquiry because he did not have a driver’s license on his person, The driver was released without charges pending further investigation.
Oct. 28
A reporting officer met with the complainant at a senior center in the 100 block of W. Diversey who stated the suspect was incredibly upset and began swearing at the complainant over the phone. The complainant became concerned after the suspect made statements about going to the facility. The reporting officer spoke with the suspect who stated he was not happy with the care his mother was receiving at the facility but did not threaten harm against anyone.
Oct. 27
A reporting officer met with the victim at around 2:13 a.m. who told police he sent an explicit video of himself to an unknown suspect. The suspect threatened to forward the video to his social media followers unless he sent $200 via Western Union. The victim did not send any money and blocked the suspect from his accounts.

Nov. 4
Retail theft was reported at a store in the 100 block of Schiller at around 8:12 p.m. A complainant told police that he observed two suspects described as black males in their 20s with bottles of alcohol bulging from their pockets. The suspects exited the north door without paying for the merchandise. The quantity of stolen bottles and dollar loss has yet to be determined.
Nov. 3-Nov. 4
A vehicle was reported stolen from a car dealership in the 200 block of W. Grand. A victim told police that an unknown suspect(s) stole a gray (with black racing stripes) 2017 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat from the dealership’s parking lot sometime between the above dates. The dealership is in possession of all the keys. The vehicle was entered into LEADS as stolen.
Nov. 2-Nov. 3
A vehicle was reported stolen at a car dealership in the 300 block of W. Grand. Police said a complainant related that an unknown suspect(s) stole a maroon, 2020 Dodge Challenger Scat Pack and a silver, 2017 Dodge Charger Hellcat while they were parked on the dealership’s lot. The key fobs for both vehicles are accounted for at the dealership. Broken glass was found at the scene. Both vehicles were entered into LEADS/NCIC.
Oct. 28
Theft was reported at a plumbing and sewer business in the 200 block of Illinois at around 12:41 p.m. A complainant told police that an unknown suspect removed sewer equipment that was located in the bed of a work truck. The complainant confronted the suspect, who then fled the scene eastbound on North Avenue in a light-colored Infinity M35 with a temporary registration. Officers checked the area but were met with no results.
Oct. 27
Residential burglary was reported in the 300 block of N. Oaklawn at around 4:31 p.m. A victim told police that she found the back door to her residence had been forced open. The victim was unable to determine exactly what was missing, but believes jewelry was taken.
Identity theft was reported in the 300 block of N. Kenilworth at around 2:04 p.m. A victim told police that an unknown suspect(s) made three unauthorized transactions on his debit card. An investigation is pending.
Oct. 26
Identity theft was reported in the 200 block of E. Park at around 4:09 p.m. A victim told police that an unknown suspect(s) used her personal information to apply for a business loan.
Retail theft was reported at a store in the 100 block of Schiller at around 6:06 p.m. A complainant told police that a suspect described as a black male between 24 and 40 years old, heavy set, around 6 feet tall, placed liquor bottles into his backpack and exited the store without paying. Video surveillance showed the suspect entering the front passenger side of a silver (possibly an older model Jaguar) sedan, which exited the parking lot westbound on Schiller.

Identity theft was reported in the 400 block of Prairie at around 1:24 p.m. A victim told police that an unknown suspect(s) used his personal information to open a Schwab One Brokerage account. The victim suffered no monetary loss.
Sept. 10
Identity theft was reported in the 300 block of Emory at around 5:30 p.m. A victim told police that an unknown suspect(s) used her personal information to apply for unemployment benefits through the Illinois Department of Employment Security. The victim learned that an unknown suspect(s) used her personal information to open two unauthorized checking accounts. The suspect cashed a fraudulent check against the victim’s checking account.
Aug. 1-Oct. 10
Attempted identity theft was reported in the 200 block of S. York. A reporting officer met with a complainant who stated that an unknown suspect(s) used his information to open a bank account sometime between the above dates. The complainant later learned the unknown suspect(s) attempted to obtain a small business loan using his information.
Theft of political signs
Tbe Elmhurst Police Department reported one incident of an unknown suspect(s) removing campaign signs from their front yard last week.
Unemployment benefits identity theft
Oct. 26-Nov. 3
Between the above dates, the Elmhurst Police Department reported 24 incidents of identity theft with the intention of using a victim’s personal information to fraudulently apply for unemployment benefits through the Illinois Department of Employment Security.
Warrant arrest
Oct. 29
Police said that subsequent to a traffic stop near Route 83 and Elizabeth at around 10:30 p.m., Aaron Hurns, 37, of Plainfield, was found to have a valid warrant out of the Illinois State Police District 5. Hurns also was charged with speeding.
