The Elmhurst Police Department recently reported the following arrests and citations. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a conviction, and that subjects are considered innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. Juveniles age 17-or-younger are not named.
Criminal damage to property/motor vehicle/criminal trespass to property/ motor vehicle/damage to property
July 29
• A victim in the 500 block of S. York told police that an unknown suspect punctured four tires on her vehicle while it was parked at an auto service.
• A recreational facility in the 200 block of W. First reported that three individuals bypassed the check-in procedure and were trespassing on the property. When an employee told them to leave, one of the individuals cursed at him. Upon officers’ arrival, the three suspects left the property and were served with trespass notices.
Disorderly conduct
Aug. 1
William Lowery, 23, of Elmhurst, was arrested in the 100 block of E. First St. at around 2:59 p.m. Police said Lowery came into the Police Department for an interview, but the interview was terminated after he reportedly began to yell profane language to detectives. According to police, an officer asked Lowery to exit the building; however, he refused to leave. The officer then placed the offender into custody and charged him with trespassing and disorderly conduct.
Domestic battery, domestic issue
Aug. 1
A 31-year-old Carol Stream woman was arrested in the 200 block of W. Lake at around 9:11 p.m. A victim told police that subsequent to a verbal argument, his ex-girlfriend pulled him, causing his shirt to rip and had scratched his arm. The suspect was charged with domestic battery.
DUI, DUI-drugs, illegal consumption or possession of alcohol by a minor, illegal transportation or possession of open alcohol
Aug. 3
• Domonique M. Hoffman, 20, of Chicago, was arrested in the 300 block of W. Fremont at around 5:28 a.m. Police said an officer responded to the report of a suspicious person, and Hoffman was located and found to be highly intoxicated. Hoffman was charged with consumption of alcohol by a minor.
• Michael McCaleb, 38, of Addison, was arrested near North and Route 83 at around 4:04 p.m. Pursuant to a four-car accident, police said McCaleb was found to be DUI. He was charged with DUI, expired registration and failure to reduce speed.
Aug. 2
• Ryan Schein, 29, of Chicago, was arrested near North and Willow at around 12:25 a.m. and was charged with DUI, speeding, improper lane usage and no insurance following a traffic stop.
July 30
• Philip Daniel Austin, 28, and Nicholas Jennings, 29, both of Sugar Grove, were arrested near Adell and Park at around 8:18 p.m. Police said while an officer was on bicycle patrol, they heard voices coming from the underground pedestrian tunnel at the train depot. The officer made contact with Austin and Jennings, whom police said had open alcoholic beverages. Both were charged with unlawful possession of open liquor in public.
• Mykhailo Dakhum, 47, of Chicago, was arrested near Grand and Wolf at around 1:33 p.m. Police said that subsequent to a person following what he felt to be an intoxicated driver, Dakhum was subsequently stopped and found to be DUI. He was charged with DUI and improper lane usage.
• Nickolas Fabris, 21, of Villa Park, was arrested near North and Evergreen at around 8:33 p.m. Police said an officer observed Fabris and another man walking at the above location, and Fabris was found to be drinking alcohol in public. He was charged with open liquor in public.
Dumping investigation
July 30
Police said an unnamed suspect is the contractor from a construction company who dumped a trailer full of cinder blocks and concrete into a hole in the 100 block of Melrose where there is going to be a driveway for new construction, and then covered the hole with a trailer load of gravel. A complainant told police he was concerned it might have been something toxic that could possibly seep into his home. An officer attempted to call the homeowner of the new construction with no results.
Fleeing and eluding
July 30
An officer attempted to stop three to five sport-type motorcycles at around 10:35 p.m., which were traveling at a high rate of speed near Route 83 and I-290. They fled eastbound on I-290.
July 29
Jesus Murillo, 38, of Northlake, was arrested near Lake and I-290 at around 8:16 a.m. Subsequent to an attempted traffic stop, police said Murillo fled the scene eastbound on I-290. The Northlake Police Department later located Murillo, whom police said admitted fleeing the scene. Murillo was charged with fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer, driving while license revoked, operating a vehicle with suspended registration and no insurance.
Possession of cannabis/drug paraphernalia/controlled substance/tobacco
July 29
Diandra Klucina, 20, of Woodridge, was arrested near Roosevelt and Butterfield at around 1:50 a.m. Subsequent to a traffic stop, police said cannabis and a gun were found in the vehicle. Two of the three occupants were released. Klucina, a passenger in the vehicle, was charged with possession of cannabis.
July 28
Responding to an anonymous complaint of illegal drug activity, police said officers spoke to the suspects and their mother. Officers recovered drug paraphernalia from the scene. There were no charges filed at this time.
Prostitution
July 29
Taylor Benham, 22, of Cherry Valley, Ill., was arrested in the 500 block of W. Grand at around 8:46 p.m. Police said that subsequent to answering an on-line ad for prostitution activity, Benham agreed to perform a sex act. Benham was charged with prostitution.
Reckless driving
Aug. 1
Un Cho, 66, of Elmhurst, was arrested in the 100 block of E. Park St. at around 1:49 p.m. Police said an officer responded to a disturbance, and upon arrival, the officer spoke to a victim who stated that Cho had driven towards her, coming within a few feet of hitting her. Cho was charged with reckless driving and aggravated assault.
Suspicious circumstances
July 28-July 29
Subsequent to a roadway hazard in the 100 block of E. Melrose, police said an officer located a steel plate covering a 10-foot hole that had been moved, leaving the hole exposed with no protective barrier. An officer spoke to a worker who stated that none of his workers had moved it. The steel plate weighs approximately 2,000 pounds and would be nearly impossible to move. No damage or injuries were reported.

Aug. 3
• Myia Ivory-Borden, 44, of Chicago, was arrested in the 200 block of N. York at around 2 p.m. Police said Ivory-Borden used false information to obtain four cell phones. She was cited for forgery.
• Officers responded to a pharmacy in the 100 block of N. Robert Palmer Drive at around 6:16 p.m. upon the request of the manager, who described the suspect as a black male between 35 and 40 years old, around 6-foot tall and 145 pounds. The suspect had just walked out of the store with unknown type of merchandise, but had set off the alarm. The suspect was told to stop, but picked up speed as he exited. He was last seen westbound on the north side of the building with an orange bag in hand.
Aug. 2
• Jennifer Longardner, 34, of Elmhurst, was arrested at a store in the 300 block of S. Route 83 at around 12:30 p.m. Police said Longardner was seen taking merchandise into the dressing room and concealing items in her purse. She walked out of the store without paying for her items and was subsequently stopped by security, according to police. She was charged with retail theft.
• Attempted burglary was reported at a restaurant in the 600 block of W. St. Charles at around 3:11 a.m. Subsequent to the report of a suspicious person, police said officers observed an unknown subject parked at the above location. The business was checked and found to have the east side glass door smashed. Nothing was missing from the business. An investigation is pending.
• A complainant in the 400 block of Fairfield Avenue told police his landscape crew went to a backyard to work and left the trailer unlocked and unattended. An unknown suspect(s) apparently entered the trailer and removed two hedge trimmers.
• Theft was reported in the 500 block of W. Gladys at around 10:48 a.m. An hour prior to making a call to police, a complainant stated he saw a suspect described as a black male driving around the area in a dark green, older model 4-door Dodge. The suspect removed a large saw and some other tools from the passenger side of the vehicle and place them in the trunk. An officer spoke with a city employee who stated he just noticed a concrete saw was missing from their work site. The possible suspect is approximately 20 years old, and was last seen wearing a white T-shirt and baggy black pants.
• A victim in the 100 block of E. Jackson St. told police that an unknown person(s) opened a Comcast account in Detroit, using his information. Comcast said it would start the process of removing the outstanding balance, if he provided a police report number.
Aug. 1-Aug. 2
Attempted burglary was reported at a business in the 500 block of N. York at around 8:45 a.m. Heavy damage to the door of the business was found. Surveillance showed an unknown suspect attempt to gain entry to the rear door, but was unsuccessful. The suspect is described as a white male, between 20 and 25 years old with a slender build, wearing athletic shoes, jeans and a construction safety-type vest.
Aug. 1
Kadijah Brown, 21, of Chicago, was arrested at a store in the 300 block of S. Route 83 at around 1:19 p.m. Police said that subsequent to the report of a retail theft in progress, Brown attempted to take sports apparel without paying. Brown was charged with attempted retail theft.
July 28
A victim at a business in the 900 block of S. York told police that an unknown suspect(s) entered the break room and removed his cell phone that he had left in his unattended backpack. Management will review surveillance video.
July 27
The accounting manager for the City of Elmhurst told police she was notified by a local bank that a city deposit from cash collected on the above date contained one counterfeit $50 bill. The bank retained the evidence.
July 26
A victim in the 200 block of E. Columbia told police he was contacted by Target to verify his information in regards to the new credit card he applied for. He said he did not apply for a new Target card. The victim told police he had no idea who was doing this or how they could have obtained his information.
June 2-July 19
A complainant at a company in the 700 block of W. Church told police that the suspect was fired from his position and left without returning a company gas credit card. The complainant added that after reviewing their log, they noticed several charges to the card at different times of the day at several gas stations around Cook County between the above dates. The case is under investigation.
