The Elmhurst Police Department recently reported the following arrests and citations. Persons charged with domestic battery are not named in order to protect the privacy of victims. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a conviction, and that subjects are considered innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. Juveniles age 17-or-younger are not named.
Assault, battery
Sept. 4
Police said officers responded to Elmhurst Hospital at around 11 a.m. for the report of a battery that had just occurred. The reporting officer met with security who stated three employees were involved in an argument which escalated and became physical. No arrests were made and the incident will be handled by Elmhurst Hospital administration.
Sept. 3
Police said a reporting officer met with a complainant in the 600 block of S. York at around 5 p.m., who stated her son had been battered by a suspect who had entered a vehicle and left the area. The reporting officer spoke with the suspect who stated the victim had been antagonizing him, eventually leading to him pushing the victim away. This case is pending investigation.
Criminal damage, criminal trespass
Sept. 9
Cheryl M. Ermilio, 39, of Villa Park, was charged with trespass to property in the 500 block of W. Lake at around 10:38 a.m. Police said officers responded to a report of a subject who was causing problems at the restaurant. Upon arrival, the officers learned that a no trespass notice had been served to Ermilio for this location, police said.
Sept. 8
A victim at a hotel in the 300 block of N. Route 83 told police at around 6:43 a.m. that an unknown suspect(s) broke the window on the driver’s-side door of his black Ford F150 while it was parked on the north side of the hotel. There was nothing disturbed or missing from inside of the truck.
Sept. 7
A victim in the 800 block of Cedar told police at around 9:15 a.m. that a suspect keyed his car causing two scratches. The victim observed the suspect’s vehicle parked down the street from his house.
Domestic battery, domestic incident, disorderly conduct, damage to property, disturbance
Sept. 7
A victim at a store in the 600 block of N. York told police at around 6:12 p.m. that while at work, she was threatened by a coworker’s family member. The victim wanted the incident documented and completed a decline-to-investigate form.
Police said an officer responded to the police station for a delayed domestic report in the 500 block of Cedar. The victim told police that subsequent to an argument, the suspect pushed her after she grabbed him. The suspect related as he attempted to leave, the victim grabbed him and he pushed the victim so she would release her grip. The victim did not wish to pursue
charges.
Sept. 6
Police said a reporting officer in the 700 block of Stuart made contact with the victim who stated her ex-husband followed her from her residence to Elmhurst. The suspect exited his vehicle, approached her vehicle and asked to speak with her. The victim refused to talk to the suspect and drove away, and the suspect entered his vehicle and continued to follow her. The reporting officer spoke with the suspect who denied ever following the victim. The victim was advised to obtain an order of protection.
Sept. 3
Police said a reporting officer responded to the 500 block of E. Park at around 9:29 a.m. for a report of a domestic battery. The complainant stated she had been thrown around by her husband the night before and was unable to call 911 at the time. The suspect denied battering the victim. Due to conflicting statements, no arrests were made.
DUI, DUI-drugs, possession of alcohol in public
Sept. 6
Lizandro Apolinar-Morale, 22, of Chicago, was charged with DUI, illegal transportation of alcoholic liquor, speeding an no insurance subsequent to a traffic stop near Michigan and North at around 1:50 a.m.
Rafael Garcia-Tomas, 19, of Bensenville, was charged with DUI, illegal transportation of alcohol and disobeying a traffic control device subsequent to a traffic stop near York and First at around 5:12 a.m.
Sept. 5
Jose Alvarado-Alvarez, 34, of Chicago, was charged with DUI and improper lane usage subsequent to a traffic stop in the 100 block of E. Butterfield at around 10:46 p.m.
Kenyeda Allen, 22, of Chicago, a passenger in a vehicle, was issued a citation for illegal transportation of alcohol subsequent to a traffic stop near North and River Glen at around 12:04 a.m. Police said it was further discovered that Deanna Nolan, 25, of Chicago, also a passenger in the vehicle, had two active warrants out of the DuPage County Sheriff’s Office.
Calvin Riley, 34, of Chicago, was charged with aggravated DUI, aggravated DUI while license revoked, unlawful possession of alcohol by a driver, driving while license revoked, improper use of registration, no valid registration and no insurance subsequent to a report of a disabled vehicle in the roadway near Route 83 and North at around 12:30 a.m.

Darell R. Sails, 28, of Chicago, was charged with DUI, open transportation of alcohol and improper backing near Route 83 and I-290 at around 3:21 a.m.
Fleeing, eluding
Sept. 5
Police said that subsequent to a traffic stop near North and Clinton at around 5:33 a.m., the offending vehicle fled at a high rate of speed eastbound on North. The driver was described as a black male, approximately 50 years of age, and wearing a face mask. The case is pending investigation.
Sept. 4
A reporting officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a motorcycle for speeding near North and Myrtle at around 11:59 p.m. The motorcycle fled at a high rate of speed, eastbound on North from Myrtle. The rider of the motorcycle was a male, wearing a dark-colored helmet, a white long-sleeve shirt, a black backpack and black pants.
Harassment, threats
Sept. 9
A reporting officer responded to the police department for a telephone harassment report in the 100 block of First at around 8:13 p.m. The officer was advised that the suspect made numerous phone calls to the Elmhurst Police Department, where she used profane language, screamed at, and harassed front desk employees. Charges are pending.
Sept. 6
A victim in the 600 block of W. Belden told police at around 11:32 a.m. that an unknown suspect impersonated a Snapchat Support employee, hacked her Snapchat account and released private content.
Obstruction
Sept. 5
Natalie Teruel, 42, of Addison, was charged with obstructing identification and no seat belt subsequent to a traffic stop near North and Villa at around 8:17 p.m. Police said Teruel provided a false name and false date of birth. Upon further investigation it was learned that Teruel had an active warrant out of the Kane County Sheriff’s Office, according to police.
Possession of cannabis, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a controlled substance
Sept. 6
Fatmir Sejdini, 38, of Plainfield, was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and unlawful possession of hypodermic syringes at a pharmacy in the 100 block of W. North at around 5:20 a.m. Police said that subsequent to observing a suspicious vehicle at the above location, a reporting officer observed the suspect slumped over behind the wheel. The reporting officer made contact with the suspect, who was found to be in possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia, according to police.

Eric Hanson, 38, of Chicago, was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance subsequent to a well-being check in the 700 block of N. York at around 4:05 p.m.
Darryl Oliver, 39, of Chicago, was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance, theft and possession of drug paraphernalia subsequent to a retail theft investigation near Industrial and York at around 10:39 p.m. Police said Oliver was found to be in possession of two backpacks filled with stolen merchandise. A search of the suspect yielded a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, according to police.

Jose Zaragoza, 45, of Wood Dale, a passenger in a vehicle, was issued a citation for possession of adult use cannabis in a vehicle subsequent to at traffic stop near York and Belden at around 8:01 p.m.
Suspicious circumstances
Sept. 9
Officers responded to the lobby of the police department at around 4:40 p.m. for a suspicious incident report. A victim told police that, as she was waiting for the bus to take her to school earlier in the morning, a full-sized, unmarked school bus pulled up to the stop sign. A suspect who was driving the empty bus opened the door and stated he was there to take her to school. The suspect was described as a white male between 30 and 60 years old, with white hair, a short white beard, missing teeth, a thin build, wearing a black baseball cap, black shirt, jeans, not wearing a mask and not wearing a vest. The suspected bus did not have “First Student” written on it, nor did it have the school’s placard in the window. The victim did not board the bus. An investigation is pending.
Sept. 8
A complainant in the 800 block of Fairfield told police at around 4:47 p.m. he heard a loud bang and smoke was coming from his neighbor’s driveway. The three suspects related they were playing a prank on their friend and ignited some fireworks on his driveway. The suspects relinquished the two remaining fireworks to the officer. The fireworks were placed into evidence for destruction.
Sept. 4
Police said a reporting officer met with a complainant at a school in the 100 block of W. Butterfield at around 9:04 a.m. who stated their child discovered a disturbing video on a video streaming app. The video showed messages indicating the user would harm themself. The reporting officer attempted to find information on the user but was met with no results. An investigation is pending.
Sept. 3
Police said officers responded to an area near Virginia and York at around 9:07 p.m. for the report of a 911 call. The complainant stated while she was in her vehicle, a male and female suspect attempted to open the door handles. The male suspect was described as white or Hispanic, with dark medium length hair, and thin build. The female suspect was said to be between 5-9 and 5-10, with dark curly hair, and wearing jean shorts. The unknown suspects did not make any comments when attempting to enter the vehicle and the complainant left the area immediately after. Officers checked the area but were met with no results.

Sept. 9
Police said officers responded to the 300 block of Addison at around 12:52 p.m. for the report of a suspicious vehicle, which was reclassified as a burglary to a vehicle. A complainant told police that he observed two suspects described as black males in their 30s removing an orange colored chainsaw from the driver’s side storage compartment of his white landscaping truck. The suspects entered a vehicle and fled the scene northbound York.
Sept. 8-Sept. 9
Theft of vehicle parts was reported at a car dealership in the 700 block of N. York. A complainant told police that an unknown suspect(s) removed four rims and tires from a 2021 Hyundai Tucson, which was parked in the center of the dealership’s rear lot sometime between the above dates.
Sept. 8
Attempted residential burglary was reported in the 700 block of Berkley at around 7:48 p.m. A complainant told police that while she was in another room, she heard the sound of glass breaking and a bedroom window slam shut. A windowpane was found broken, the window frame was bent, and its screen was popped out of place.
Sept. 7
Daniel Arreguin, 24, of Palatine, was charged with possession of a stolen vehicle, theft over $500, possession of cannabis by the driver and driving while license suspended near Lake and I-290 at around 3 a.m.
Sept. 5
Retail theft was reported at a store in the 600 block of N. York at around 8:35 p.m. A reporting officer met with the complainant who stated an unknown suspect placed several items into a shopping bag and left the store without paying. Officers checked the area but were met with no results.
Sept. 4
Marcus Rowe, 19, of Villa Park, was issued a citation for possession of fraudulent identification subsequent to a suspicious vehicle investigation in the 300 block of W. St. Charles at around 2:56 p.m.
Identity theft was reported in the 200 block of E. Grantley at around 12:15 p.m. A victim told police that an unknown suspect(s) attempted to file for unemployment benefits using his information. The victim reported the fraud to the Illinois Department of Employment Security.
Unlawful use of a weapon
Sept. 8
Police said that subsequent to a traffic stop near Villa and North at around 4:01 a.m., the reporting officer observed a .380 caliber Ruger LCP pistol in plain view between the legs of the rear seat passenger, Andy Hernandez, 26, of Lombard. The pistol was found to be loaded and had been reported stolen out of Story City, Iowa, according to police. Police said Hernandez did not possess a concealed carry license. Police said Juan L. Bernabe-Martinez, 32, of Waukegan, was found to be in possession of cannabis and open alcohol, and Larry F. Pena, 26, of Chicago, was found to be in possession of open alcohol. Bernabe-Martinez was issued citations for possession of cannabis in a vehicle and illegal transportation of alcohol. Pena was issued citations for illegal transportation of alcohol and no seat belt. Hernandez was charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, possession of a firearm without having a FOID card on person, possession of ammunition without having a FOID card on person, illegal transportation of alcohol and no seat belt.
