The Elmhurst Police Department recently reported the following arrests and citations. Persons charged with domestic battery are not named in order to protect the privacy of victims. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a conviction, and that subjects are considered innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. Juveniles age 17-or-younger are not named.
Criminal damage
June 10
A victim in the 1000 block of S. Euclid advised at 11:30 a.m. that he observed an unknown suspect throw a rock at the victim’s vehicle causing damage to the windshield. The suspect then fled in an unknown direction. Officers checked the immediate area and could not locate the suspect nor any projectile, which could have caused the damage.
June 8
Jay Richard Zeidel, 56, of Hickory, N.C., was charged with two counts of criminal damage to property in the 1000 block of S. York at around 12:18 p.m. Police said officers responded for a suspicious person walking around a semi-truck who was yelling. Due to the driver’s alleged behavior, a reporting officer contacted the truck owner who came to the scene to take the truck away. Police said Zeidel subsequently damaged the windshield and the curtains in the sleeper section of the truck.

June 10
Oscar Barriuso, 45, of Elmhurst, and Kelly Haynes, 50, of Chicago, were issued citations for disorderly conduct in the 1000 block of S. Euclid at around 9:35 a.m. Police said Barriuso and Hayes were involved in a physical altercation on the parkway in front of the condominium building. During the altercation, both were videotaped punching each other, according to police.
June 4
Police said officers responded to the above location for the report of a verbal domestic. The complainant told police that he and the suspect were involved in a verbal argument. The suspect related during an argument, she and the complainant pushed each other. Due to conflicting statements and no signs of injuries, no arrests were made. Both subjects agreed to stay away from each other for the evening.

June 9
James Hulme, 34, of Franklin Park, was charged with obstructing a police officer and possession of alcohol in a public way near York and Schiller at around 6 p.m. Police said Hulme was observed causing a disturbance and possessing open alcohol in public. Upon further investigation it was found Hulme had a valid warrant out of the Illinois Department of Corrections, according to police.
June 8
Daniel McGladdery, 67, of Downers Grove, was charged with DUI-drugs and improper stopping on the roadway near Butterfield and York at around 2:40 p.m.
June 6
Arturo Jamie, 47, of Chicago, was issued a citation for possession of open alcohol in public near Marion and Kenmore at around 9:35 p.m.

June 10
Police said officers were alerted to several vehicles near Route 83 and North at around 3:48 a.m. that were involved in a theft in Carol Stream. A reporting officer located the vehicles at the above location. A traffic stop was initiated on one of the vehicles; however, the vehicle fled from officers and was last seen headed eastbound on I-290. Carol Stream police were notified.

June 8
Police said an unknown suspect phoned the Elmhurst Police Department approximately 15 times and used vulgar language towards police personnel. The suspect’s speech was slurred and she was difficult to understand at times. The suspect was advised that unless she wished to report a crime, she was told to stop calling the police station, otherwise complaints would be signed.

June 8
Skyler D. Kroll, 23, of Aurora, was charged with two counts of a possession of a controlled substance and retail theft at a mobile phone stores in the 200 block of N. York at around 10:30 a.m. Police said Kroll was located and admitted to stealing items from the store. Kroll was taken into custody and was transported to the police station where she was found to be in possession of heroin, crack cocaine, MDMA and marijuana, according to police.

June 3-June 4
Police said an officer responded to the 100 block of E. Butterfield for a report of shell casings found between the above dates. Upon arrival, the officer located two shell casings in an alcove near the dumpsters. No bullets, nor bullet holes, were located. The shell casings were placed into evidence.

June 11
Burglary was reported at a liquor store in the 400 block of N. York at around 1:03 a.m. Police said that subsequent to a burglar alarm, officers discovered a front glass door had been shattered. Unknown suspects gained entry to the building and took cash. The suspects were described as black males, wearing black hoodies, black pants and white gym shoes.
June 8
Priscilla P. Bakos, 42, of Bensenville, was charged with retail theft at a gas station in the 1000 block of N. York at around 11:57 a.m. Police said Bakos entered the store, removed one bottle of antifreeze and fled the scene without paying for the merchandise.
June 7
Burglary to a vehicle was reported in the 900 block of Riverside at around 7:47 a.m. A complainant told police that a Chicago Pneumatic generator was stolen from the bed of a truck, which was parked in the lot. Video surveillance showed the suspect’s vehicle driving through the lot and an unknown suspect removing the generator from the truck. An investigation is pending.
Retail theft was reported at a pharmacy in the 100 block of N. Robert T. Palmer Drive at around 1:26 p.m. A complainant told police that he observed two suspects in the store and saw one of the suspects put something into a large handbag. The suspects exited the store and left the area in a dark blue Chevy Trailblazer.
May 31-June 7
Attempted commercial burglary was reported in the 900 block of S. Route 83. Police said the owner of a storage facility reports a storage unit appears to have been tampered with. Officers checked the unit and noticed pry marks and signs of forced entry. The unit shows signs of entry but it is unknown if items were removed.
June 6
Retail theft was reported at a store in the 600 block of N. York at around 10:05 a.m. According to police, while conducting an extra patrol at the store, the reporting officer observed a suspect fleeing from the store’s loss prevention officer. The suspect recklessly drove through the parking lot and exited onto westbound I-290, disregarding the officer’s instructions to stop. It was determined the unknown suspect stole four boxes of men’s Rogaine® and four boxes of Nexium®.
Burglary was reported at a store in the 100 block of E. Schiller at around 10:07 a.m. A complainant told police he reviewed video surveillance footage, which showed a suspect entering the stock room, loading several cases of Hennessey® and Patron® Silver Tequila into a shopping cart, and exiting the store without paying for the merchandise.
June 4
Identity theft was reported in the 100 block of Villa at around 1:06 p.m. A victim told police that she noticed unauthorized deposits were made to her checking account. Her bank was able to freeze the account and the victim did not incur any monetary loss.
June 3
Identity theft was reported in the 500 block of Babcock at around 7:33 p.m. A victim told police that an unknown suspect used his personal information to file a fraudulent unemployment claim. The reporting officer provided the victim with information about how to protect himself against identity theft.

Identity theft was reported at a business in the 400 block of Spring at around 11:20 a.m. A complainant told police that an unknown suspect used her business information and merchant ID to generate fraudulent transactions. The complainant was provided with information about how to protect herself against identity theft.
May 23
Identity theft was reported in the 400 block of Addison at around 3:31 p.m. A victim told police that an unknown suspect used her personal information to purchase products at AT&T stores in Florida. After further investigation, it was determined that the victim’s name, address, and driver’s license number had been compromised. The victim did not incur any monetary loss.
May 22
Fraud was reported at a business in the 600 block of N. Walnut at around 1:57 p.m. A victim stated that an unknown suspect was able to gain access to the victim’s business and personal accounts. The suspect was able to withdraw cash from the victim’s business account. The victim notified the financial institutions to freeze the accounts.
April 16-April 17
Residential burglary was reported in the 100 block of N. Michigan. A victim told police she left her wallet in her apartment. When she returned from the hospital, she was unable to locate it.
