Reports claim suspect started fire, harmed dog, spit at officers
On April 7, Trevor Wukasch, 37, of Elmhurst, was charged with aggravated battery to a police officer, aggravated assault to a police officer, resisting arrest, cruel treatment to an animal and disorderly conduct in the 100 block of W. First at around 8:39 p.m. Police said officers responded to the above location for the report of a suspicious person lighting something on fire. The reporting officer located Wukasch, who, according to police, became verbally aggressive, began walking away from officers and was observed harming a dog he was walking. Police said Wukasch then ran to the second floor where he pulled a fire alarm. Officers placed the suspect into custody. While in custody, Wukasch allegedly continued to resist and reportedly spit at officers.
Suspect allegedly pulls knife, threats harm
On April 2, Vance Lubben, 35, of Elmhurst, was charged with aggravated assault in the 100 block of W. Virginia at around 8:09 p.m. Police said officers responded to the above location for the report of a man with a knife, made contact with Lubben and placed him under arrest without incident. The reporting officer spoke with the victim who stated Lubben allegedly pulled a knife out of a kitchen drawer and made statements about harming him.
Man charged after car trikes mailbox, light pole
On April 5, Jorge Vargas, 24, of Glendale Heights, was issued a citation for possession of open alcohol in a vehicle in the 700 block of Willow at around 11:44 p.m. Police said a subject and Vargas were involved in an argument within the moving vehicle. The vehicle veered off of the roadway and struck a mailbox and a light pole, according to police.
Four reports of entering unlocked vehicles
During the dates of April 7 & 8, four incidents of a suspect entering unlocked vehicles were reported between the above dates—two in the 100 block of S. Fairfield, and one each in the 300 block of W. Alexander and in the 200 block of Eggleston. In the first two incidents in the 100 block of S. Fairfield, victims reported that an unknown suspect entered their unlocked vehicles while they were parked in a driveway overnight. Nothing was taken from either vehicle. In the incident in the 300 block of W. Alexander, a victim told police that an unknown suspect entered the unlocked vehicle while it was parked in the driveway overnight. The unknown suspect stole cash from the vehicle. In the incident in the 200 block of Eggleston, a victim told police that an unknown suspect entered her unlocked vehicle and stole her son’s wallet. Video surveillance shows an unknown suspect wearing a light-colored hooded sweatshirt entering her vehicle. An unknown suspect attempted to use the debit card online, but the card was declined.
