The Elmhurst Police Department recently reported the following arrests and citations. Persons charged with domestic battery are not named in order to protect the privacy of victims. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a conviction, and that subjects are considered innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. Juveniles age 17-or-younger are not named.
Domestic battery, domestic incident, disorderly conduct, disturbance
Feb. 15
A reporting officer responded for the report of a domestic battery in the 400 block of W. Lake at around 12:15 a.m. The victim reported the suspect was yelling and pushed her to the floor. Due to conflicting statements and no visible injuries, no arrests were made and both parties agreed to separate.

Feb. 19
Christopher Porter, 29, of Burton, Mich., was charged with DUI and speeding subsequent to a traffic stop near North and Willow at around 4:04 a.m.
Feb. 13
Mitchell Baker, 26, of Elmhurst, was charged with DUI, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, operating an electronic communication device while driving, expired registration and no insurance near First and Addison at around 11:54 p.m.
Tristan Wadycki, 31, of Berkeley, was charged with DUI-drugs, unlawful possession of cannabis by a driver, disobeying a stop sign and improper lane usage subsequent to a traffic stop near Church and Kenilworth at around 8 a.m.
Harassment, threats
Feb. 16
A complainant in the 400 block of S. Prairie told police at around 11:47 a.m. that she received a phone call from the suspect who was making threats. The suspect stated he did not make any threatening statements. The suspect was advised to cease all contact with the victim.
Possession of cannabis, possession of drug paraphernalia, unlawful possession of a controlled substance
Feb. 18
Police said that subsequent to a traffic stop near York and North at around 10:30 p.m. a juvenile suspect was found to have no valid driver’s license and was also found to be in unlawful possession of cannabis. The juvenile was charged with unlawful possession of cannabis by a driver, no valid driver’s license, improper lighting and no insurance, and released to a parent. Isaiah Rubio, 18, of Riverview, Fla., was found to be in possession of a vape pen, which contained cannabis, police said. He was charged with unlawful possession of adult-use cannabis in a vehicle.

Aldo Martinez, 34, of Addison, was charged with unlawful possession of adult-use cannabis in a vehicle subsequent to a traffic stop near North and I-290 at around 8:57 p.m.

Feb. 14-Feb. 19
Forgery was reported at a business in the 100 block of E. Butterfield. A victim told police that an unknown suspect is using their bank routing number and sending checks to numerous out-of-state companies. The victim reports no monetary loss at this time. Further investigation is pending.
Dec. 1, 2019-Feb. 19
Identity theft was reported in the 300 block of W. Kimbell. A victim told police that an unknown suspect(s) opened a credit card account using the victim’s personal information sometime between the above dates. The fraudulent account has an unpaid balance and has since been closed due to non-payment. The victim contacted the credit bureau to report the fraudulent activity.
Feb. 18
Identity theft was reported in the 200 block of Arlington at around 4:44 p.m. A victim told police that while reviewing his checking account he noticed several unauthorized transactions that took place between Feb. 14 and Feb. 16, all from different locations in Florida. The victim notified his bank and all accounts have been canceled.
Feb. 16-Feb. 18
Police said a reporting officer responded to a hotel in the 900 block of S. Riverside for a report of unlawful use of a credit card sometime between the above dates. Upon arrival, officers met with a complainant who stated he received a phone call from the victim reporting his credit card was fraudulently used to book a room at the hotel. The reporting officer attempted to make contact with the suspect staying at the hotel, but was met with negative results. An investigation is pending.
Feb. 6-Feb. 15
A victim in the 900 block of S. Route 83 told police that an unknown suspect gained access to his locked self-storage unit and removed numerous items sometime between the above dates. There were no signs of forced entry.
Feb. 13
Unlawful use of a credit card was reported in the 400 block of N. York at around 5:09 p.m. Police said a reporting officer was made aware of a stolen credit card being fraudulently used at Thornton’s and Doti Liquors in Elmhurst. The credit card had been left inside a vehicle that was stolen in Hoffman Estates. The unknown suspect fraudulently used the credit card to purchase fuel at Thornton’s and merchandise at Doti Liquors.
Jan. 30
Theft was reported in the 500 block of N. West at around 12:31 p.m. A complainant told police that upon reviewing their home security camera footage, they observed an unknown male suspect walk up to their front door and remove three packages. The suspect is described as a white or Hispanic male, wearing a gray camouflage jacket and a red hat.
Jan. 9-Jan. 21
Identity theft was reported in the 300 block of Berkley. A victim told police that upon reviewing her online banking statement, she noticed two unauthorized transactions, both were completed through PayPal sometime between the above dates. The victim notified her bank of the issue and the card was subsequently cancelled.
