State of the City address
A few weeks ago, the Independent published a story about Mayor Steve Morley’s State of the City address that contained an error in one of his quotes. The story indicated that the Police and Firefighters pension funds were funded at 80%, but that was incorrect. According to the Firefighters Pension Fund, it is funded at 60.57%. The Police Pension Fund is funded at 57.63%. Mayor Morley’s quote indicated that Elmhurst’s pension obligations are “funded higher than about 80% of the towns in Illinois.” The Independent regrets the error.
LWV Candidate’s forum
In last week’s Independent, a story appeared about the Elmhurst League of Women Voters’ recent Candidate forum. The story stated the Illinois Voter Guide would be live at IllinoisVoterGuide.org in November, but in fact, it will be operational as of Feb. 6. Feb. 6 is also the first day of early voting at local election authorities. According to the Elmhurst League, that would be Wheaton. The Independent regrets the error.
