The Elmhurst Police Department recently reported the following arrests and citations. Persons charged with domestic battery are not named in order to protect the privacy of victims. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a conviction, and that subjects are considered innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. Juveniles age 17-or-younger are not named.
Assault
April 20
Travis Knaak, 45, of Aurora, was charged with aggravated assault in the 100 block of S. West at around 5:54 p.m. A victim told police that while installing speed bumps at Courts Plus, Knaak approached the area where the victim was working and was given the stop signal. According to police, Knaak then bumped the victim with his vehicle.
Criminal damage, criminal trespass
April 19, April 23
Cinque D. Grant, 28, of Bensenville, was charged with criminal trespass to property in the 100 block of S. York at around 7:09 a.m. Police said the suspect had been served a no-trespass order for a property in the above location. According to police, Grant was found sleeping in the basement of the property and the complainant called the police. Grant also was charged with criminal trespass to property in the same area as the April 19 incident at around 8:35 a.m.
Disorderly conduct
April 23
Victoria A. Henderson, 44, of Chicago, was issued a citation for disorderly conduct at Elmhurst Hospital at around 11:31 p.m. Police said Henderson was yelling, cursing and disturbing people in the lobby. Police said Henderson stated that she tried to visit a family member who was a patient, but hospital staff told her the name she provided was not in the hospital’s system.
Juvenile suspects were issued citations for disorderly conduct and released to their respective parents in the 100 block of N. Palmer at around 9:21 p.m. A victim told police that while she was walking, the suspects reportedly surrounded her, made sexual statements to her and would not let her pass. She was able to get away from the suspects. When the victim exited a restaurant and walked back towards her vehicle, the suspects were waiting in the area and again surrounded her. The victim then called police.
April 22
Robert D. Gifford, 51, of Elmhurst, was issued a citation for disorderly conduct near North and Ferndale at around 3:22 p.m. Police said that subsequent to a minor traffic crash, Gifford exited his vehicle, yelled at the victim and placed his finger on the victim’s chest.
April 20
Paul Pachero, 48, of Stone Park, was issued a citation for disorderly conduct-public intoxication near Cottage Hill and the railroad tracks at around 2:47 p.m.
April 18
Gina Bolin, 32, of Elmhurst, was issued a citation for disorderly conduct in the 100 block of Fellows Court at around 5:53 a.m. Police said the suspect’s boyfriend stated that they got into a verbal fight over his ex-wife. According to police, Bolin was found outside, intoxicated.
A victim in the 300 block of S. Route 83 told police at around 8:20 p.m. she was at this location when she observed her ex-boyfriend enter the business. She then stated while sitting in her vehicle, he opened the door, put himself inside the vehicle, and stated he has been trying to get ahold of her. The victim took out her phone, he got out of the vehicle and she drove away. The victim is unsure if she would like to pursue charges at this time.
Domestic battery, domestic incident, disturbance
April 22
An 18-year-old Elmhurst man was charged with two counts of domestic battery in the 100 block of E. South at around 8:18 p.m. A victim told police that she and the suspect were involved in a verbal argument which allegedly became physical. The suspect allegedly threw a pair of shoes which struck the victim in the head, causing minor bruising and swelling.
A 45-year-old Elmhurst woman was charged with two counts of domestic battery in the 300 block of W. Montrose at around 5:19 p.m. According to police, a victim related that the suspect yelled at her, grabbed her arm, pulled her into the bedroom and struck her head against the wall. The reporting officer observed a number of red marks on the victim’s left arm, and medics felt a small bump on the rear of her hand, police said.
April 20
A 37-year-old Elmhurst man was charged with domestic battery and criminal damage to property in the 500 block of N. West at around 12:30 p.m. A victim told police that the suspect had been staying with her temporarily but had not been at the house for the past few days. On the above date, police said the suspect arrived at the home intoxicated and attempted to enter the home through an unlocked front door. The victim blocked the suspect from entering and told him to leave. The suspect then allegedly pushed the victim into a book case and then onto the floor.
A victim in the 500 block of W. Grand told police at around 10:13 p.m. that her boyfriend allegedly struck her in the chest and pulled her hair after she would not give him a ride. The suspect was contacted on the phone and stated he would be in on April 21 to speak with the reporting officer.

April 24
Dipakkumar Patel, 37, of Bensenville, was charged with DUI and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident subsequent to a three-vehicle crash near York and Grand at around 4:05 p.m.
April 22
Paul R. Yedor, 27, of Melrose Park, was issued citations for illegal transportation of alcohol, possession of cannabis, no seat belt and no insurance subsequent to a traffic stop near North and Melrose at around 11:44 p.m.
April 19
Darrell M. Thompson, 31, of Chicago, was charged with DUI and improper parking in the roadway near North and Larch at around 4:57 a.m. Police said a reporting officer observed Thompson hunched over the wheel of his vehicle with the hazard lights on. According to police, Thompson admitted to consuming alcohol.
Indecent exposure
April 19
A reporting officer responded to an area near Poplar and Huntington at around 4:19 p.m. for the report of an indecent exposure. A complainant stated that his daughter witnessed a suspect described as a black male exposing himself in public. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate the suspect.
Obstruction
April 23
Robert Thompson, 31, of Northlake, was charged with obstructing identification, driving while license suspended and disobeying a traffic control device subsequent to a traffic stop in the 600 block of W. North at around 8:21 a.m. Police said Thompson provided an officer with a false name.
April 18
Jeffrey Bertrand, 54, of Wheaton, was charged with obstructing a police officer and disobeying a traffic control device near Addison and North at around 11:23 p.m. Police said that subsequent to a traffic stop, Bertrand showed signs of alcohol consumption. The suspect exited his vehicle and then attempted to walk away from the reporting officer, according to police.

Raylan D. Banks, 34, of Hanover Park, was issued citations for possession of cannabis, possession of drug paraphernalia, operating a vehicle while using an electronic communications device and no insurance subsequent to a traffic stop near York and Industrial at around 11:35 a.m.
April 22
Steven M. Crady, 18, of Wood Dale, was issued a citation for possession of cannabis subsequent to an investigation of a suspicious vehicle near York and Church at around 2:16 a.m.
Richard W. Dahms, 26, of LaGrange Park, was issued a citation for possession of cannabis, while Gabriel L. Despaigne, 23, of Lyons, was issued citations for possession of cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia near St. Charles and West at around 4:34 p.m.
Christine N. Lambert, 40, of Darien, was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia in the 400 block of S. Spring at around 2:51 p.m. Police said Lambert stated that someone grabbed her by the neck and threw her to the ground. After investigating the incident, no arrests were made for battery. Police said Lambert was highly intoxicated, admitted to using cocaine and alcohol, and was found to be in possession of controlled substance residue and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Joseph Lesniak, 29, of Hampshire, was issued citations for possession of cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia in the 500 block of W. Grand at around 4:17 p.m.
April 19
Frank Munez, 33, of Melrose Park, was issued citations for possession of cannabis, possession of drug paraphernalia, a defective windshield and no insurance subsequent to a traffic stop near North and Route 83 at around 5:07 p.m.
Suspicious circumstances
April 18
Police said officers responded to the 300 block of S. Route 83 at around 9:37 p.m. after the victim’s mother called, stating she reported her daughter missing, and a deposit was made into her bank account at the above location. The area was checked for the victim with no results. The reporting officer contacted the originating agency and informed them of the incident.

April 23
Jamel Reedy, 18, of Bellwood, was charged with attempted forgery and speeding subsequent to a traffic stop near Grand and Industrial at around 5:22 p.m. Police said Reedy was found to be in possession of a counterfeit $100 bill.
Theft was reported in the 100 block of N. Berteau at around 2:09 p.m. A victim told police that her diamond ring was stolen. The victim suspects two housekeepers that were at her house while she was away may have taken it. An investigation is pending.
April 21
Theft was reported near Berkley and Montrose at around 7:41 a.m. Police said an unknown suspect removed a stop sign and post from the northwest corner of the intersection.
Theft was reported in the 1200 block of S. Prospect at around 11:53 a.m. A complainant told police that while she and the suspect were visiting the victim, the suspect reportedly stole $100 from the victim’s dresser drawer. The victim declined to sign complaints and the suspect agreed to reimburse the victim.
Identity theft was reported in the 400 block of Spring at around 6:31 p.m. Police said an unknown suspect used the victim’s debit card number and removed cash from his account. The victim last used his debit card at an ATM located inside a store on Spring Road.
April 20
Identity theft was reported in the 500 block of S. Spring at around 12:18 p.m. A victim told police she was notified by her bank that an unknown suspect attempted to withdraw money from her account, but the transaction was denied by the bank. The victim last used her bank card at an ATM inside a store on Spring Road. Several customers who used the same ATM inside the store experienced similar fraud attempts.
April 16-April 19
A victim in the 100 block of S. Prospect told police that she answered an ad for a job opportunity as a dog walker via email. A check was sent to the victim, which she deposited into her bank account on April 16. She then withdrew cashier’s checks in the amounts she was advised in the email. On April 18, the victim noticed her account was short. The victim was unable to contact the suspect via email or phone. The bank refunded the victim for the loss.
April 18
Carmen Luna, 47, of Addison, was charged with retail theft at a store in the 300 block of S. Route 83 at around 6:55 p.m.
Police said that subsequent to an investigation of a suspicious vehicle in the 300 block of S. Route 83 at around 7:01 p.m., Zeondre Williams, 21, of Hazel Crest, a passenger in the vehicle, was found to have deposited a fraudulent check into the ATM of a Wells Fargo bank. He also was found to be in possession of another fraudulent check inside the vehicle. He was charged with two counts of forgery.
Identity theft was reported in the 400 block of W. Third at around 8:09 a.m. Police said a victim came into the station to report that fraudulent withdrawals were made on his checking and savings accounts. The suspect made withdrawals in Peoria and advised the victim to make a police report.
April 14
Identity theft was reported in the 600 block of S. Euclid at around 5:30 p.m. A victim told police that he received two letters from AT&T thanking him for opening an account. The victim contacted AT&T and advised he did not open the fraudulent account. There was no monetary loss.
April 13
Identity theft was reported in the 500 block of W. Crockett at around 12:31p.m. Police said a victim received a letter from Kohl’s thanking her for completing a Kohl’s credit card application. The victim already has a Kohl’s credit card and did not apply for a new card. The victim was advised by Kohl’s that it was an online application, using her name, date of birth, home address and Social Security number. The account was not open.

April 24
Police said Frank Battaglia, 72, of Elmhurst, came into the police station to turn himself in on a warrant out of DuPage County at around 6:27 p.m.
