Willowbrook High School recently held an “Evening of Honors” ceremony for the school’s Math Honor Society, National English Honor Society, World Language Honor Society and Civitas (the school’s social studies honor society). About 400 students were recognized and inducted, or reaffirmed into the honor societies. The students who shared their experiences as members of the honor societies and introduced other honorees included (top photo, left to right) seniors Maura Heneghan, Miriam Youhanoun, Hope Rickord, Jackson Hathaway and Maxwell Polanek. Another photo (bottom left) from the ceremony shows (left to right) senior Julia Walli, senior Julia Langer and Youhanoun, who were named as the recipients of the Kathy Marcyniuk Scholarship. Also pictured (bottom right) is senior Annie Ross, who was named at the ceremony as the recipient of the National English Honor Society Scholarship. Six days after the “Evening of Honors” event, Willowbrook recognized about 170 students who were inducted or reaffirmed into the National Honor Society. Seniors received a cord to wear during the upcoming graduation ceremony on May 19. Juniors received a pin, while sophomore honorees received a certificate. To be inducted into Willowbrook’s National Honor Society, students must apply and have a minimum grade-point average of 3.5. Additionally, inductees must demonstrate leadership, service, character and scholarship.
