Services Saturday
After a short but valiant battle with brain cancer, Pablo Machuca Jr., of Elmhurst, entered into rest on April 8, 2019, at the age of 72, joining his parents, Pablo Sr and Juanita Machuca. Pablo was a veteran of the U.S. Army where he served in the Vietnam War. Pablo spent his professional career as a realtor and was passionate about many hobbies. Over the years, he enjoyed judo, baseball, bicycling, fishing, country dancing, gardening, golf, cooking and group fitness classes. In these activities, he was undoubtedly the most enthusiastic participant with his hearty laugh and full-face grin. More so, he was a dedicated Grandpa/Papi, Father and partner taking the time to travel to his grandchildren’s sporting events, bestowing loving advice to his children, and preparing every meal at home with enthusiastic gusto then enjoying it with his lifetime partner, Kim Ricke.
Pablo was the devoted father of Matt (Sydney) Machuca and Julia (Tim) Heckler. He was the loving Grandpa/Papi of Jordan, Caleb, Britin, Brock and Mirabelle and honorary Papi to Ava and Vaughn. He was the protective eldest brother of Louis (Linda) Machuca, Gloria Ferrer, Maria Knowles and Fred Machuca as well as uncle to many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Pablo’s life will be held at Ahlgrim Funeral Home, 567 S. Spring Rd., on Saturday, April 20, 2019. Visitation at 2 p.m. until Memorial Service at 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, Memorials will be appreciated for the Vietnam Veterans of America (vva.org). Funeral info 630-834-3515 or visit ahlgrim.com.
