The Villa Park Historical Museum opens the 2019 season today—April 4, with three new exhibits: “Vintage Board Games,” “Vintage Toys for Boys” and “Vintage Toys for Girls.” The “Game of Villa Park,” created as a fundraiser several years ago by the Villa Park Chamber of Commerce, will be available to play. “Life was simpler years ago, before television, cell phones, computers and the Internet,” according to the Villa Park Historical Society’s statement to promote the new exhibits. The museum is located at 220 S. Villa Ave., just south of the Illinois Prairie Path. The museum is open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. The museum, which is closed on Mondays, is housed in the former Chicago, Aurora and Elgin Railroad station that served the community from 1929 to 1957. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986. A volunteer board and staff have operated the museum for over 40 years. Admission to the museum is free. Donations are accepted and appreciated.
