The Elmhurst Police Department recently reported the following arrests and citations. Persons charged with domestic battery are not named in order to protect the privacy of victims. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a conviction, and that subjects are considered innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. Juveniles age 17-or-younger are not named.
Criminal damage to property
Feb. 13
An officer near Rex and St. Charles responded to a report of a stop sign which had been knocked down. The officer learned that the stop sign was struck by a vehicle and was reported the previous day. There were fresh footprints around the top of the fallen post, and the street signs were missing. It appears that an unknown suspect removed the street signs. From the stop sign post.
Disorderly conduct
Feb. 11
A victim at the Elmhurst Public library told police at around 2:09 p.m. that while en route to the library, an unnamed suspect crossed the street in front of her vehicle. As the victim was in her vehicle returning books at the drop box, the suspect reportedly approached her vehicle, claimed she almost hit him, flipped her off, and slapped the passenger side of her vehicle. The suspect apologized, and related he suffers from paranoia, anger issues and other disabilities. The victim did not wish to pursue the matter.
Domestic battery, domestic incident
Feb. 10
A complainant in the 100 block of N. Avon told police at around 10:24 p.m. that her daughter woke the suspect up and the suspect grabbed the daughter’s arm. The complainant was filming the suspect at this time and stated that the suspect then allegedly knocked the phone down and struck her. Officers viewed the video and found no evidence of domestic battery. The complainant and the children left the residence for the evening.
Feb. 8
A victim in the 100 block of E. Brush Hill told police at around 1:58 p.m. that the suspect, who is the father of her child, had an argument with her regarding phone numbers of other men in her cellphone. She stated that the suspect reportedly started following her around the room while she was trying to gather her belongings and placed her in a bear hug. The suspect told police they were arguing, and she was allegedly throwing items at him. Police said the suspect denied hugging her. There were no physical injuries and neither party wished to sign complaints.

Feb. 12
Ryan J. McGuin, 29, of Elmhurst, was charged with DUI drugs and no valid driver’s license near North and Maple at around 11:45 p.m.
Feb. 10
Prentice Stansberry, 51, of Chicago, was charged with DUI and parking where prohibited near St. Charles and Hill at around 12:28 a.m. Police said a reporting officer located Stansberry passed out behind the wheel of his vehicle at the above location.
Feb. 7
Ryan M. Gallian, 24, of Chicago, was charged with aggravated DUI, driving while license suspended and one headlight subsequent to a traffic stop near Roosevelt and I-290 at around 1:27 a.m.
Fleeing, eluding
Feb. 9
Police said that subsequent to a traffic stop near North and Willow at around 12:43 a.m. the suspected vehicle, a gray Honda, refused to stop. The vehicle fled east on I-290 and the stop was terminated.
Fugitive from justice
Feb. 7
Police said officers in the 300 block of W. McKinley received information that a person wanted on an out-of-state warrant was inside the residence. Officers were able to make contact with Blake Ogle, 33, of Joplin, Mo., whom police said was taken into custody and transported to the police station. Ogle was charged with being a fugitive from justice.
Harassment, threats
Jan. 7
Police said a reporting officer met with a complainant’s parents, who related that their daughter is being harassed via her cell phone. Additionally, her school locker at York High School had reportedly been damaged more than once, their home had been egged, and one of their vehicles had been keyed, according to police. There were five Quick Tips through the District 205 school messenger system regarding their daughter that were all found to be false. The complainant stated that a few days prior to the egging incident, the suspect pursued her to date him; however, she was not interested. The parents would like the incident investigated, according to police.

Feb. 13
Police said that while a reporting officer was on patrol near St. Charles and Spring at around 5 p.m., the officer observed three individuals inside a vehicle smoking what appeared to be a cannabis blunt. Upon making contact with the occupants, police said the individuals were found to be in possession of cannabis. Celine Vidales, 21, of Addison, and Preston Jones, 30, of Wheaton, were cited for possession of cannabis. According to police, Christopher Farrell, 34, of Addison, was found to be in possession of 21 grams of cannabis and an additional 112 grams located in the vehicle. Farrell was charged with one felony count of possession of cannabis.
Police said school staff at York High School reported an odor of cannabis coming from one of the bathrooms on the second floor. According to police, Dylan O’Leary, 18, of Elmhurst, and a juvenile, were located in the bathroom. A search of both O’Leary and the juvenile yielded several vape cartridges containing a brown tar-like substance and a vape pen. O’Leary was issued a citation for possession of cannabis, and the juvenile was cited for possession of cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia. Both were released to their parents.
Derontae Williams, 24, of Maywood, was charged with possession of cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia, driving while license suspended and unlawful operation of an electronic communication device subsequent to a traffic stop near North and I-290 at around 3:28 p.m.

Michael A. Benjamin, 27, of Streamwood, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, no valid driver’s license and driving without headlights subsequent to a traffic stop near York and Wrightwood at around 2:54 a.m.

Sherri A. Schaefer, 26, of Elmhurst, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, driving while license suspended, no rear registration plate and tinted windows subsequent to a traffic stop near North and Maple at around 1:15 a.m.

Xavier R. Dickinson, 22, of Champaign, was charged with possession of cannabis and tinted windows, while Darryl Binion, 22, of Brookfield, was charged with possession of cannabis subsequent to a traffic stop near Butterfield and Hillcrest at around 5:08 p.m.

Lawrence A. Roper, Jr., 36, of Chicago, was charged with possession of cannabis, driving while license suspended and no insurance subsequent to a traffic stop near Butterfield and Commonwealth at around 5:59 p.m.
Joanna Sujata, 28, of River Grove, was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance and speeding subsequent to a traffic stop near York and Belden at around 3:21 p.m. Police said Sujata was found to be in possession of three Xanax pills without a prescription.

Ethel L. Fisher-Conn, 26, of Maywood, was charged with possession of cannabis, driving while license suspended and tinted windows subsequent to a traffic stop near Lake and Walnut at around 10:59 a.m.
Suspicious circumstances
Feb. 8
Police said that subsequent to a disabled vehicle near North and Route 83 at around 6:31 a.m., a reporting officer recognized it to be a stolen auto from Batavia. The unnamed suspect stated that he was out of gas, homeless, living out of the van, and had borrowed the van from his employer. The suspect was advised he was under arrest pending the outcome of a possession of a stolen auto investigation. The suspect was subsequently released to Batavia detectives.

Feb. 11
Kendall Ward, 23, of Chicago, was charged with burglary and retail theft, while Terrell Melvin, 21, of Chicago, was charged with retail theft at a store in the 100 block of E. Schiller at around 3:49 p.m. Police said Ward was observed loading a cart with energy drinks and other merchandise. Melvin allegedly exited the store and was communicating with Ward via telephone. According to police, Ward then left the store with the cart full of merchandise without paying.
Identity theft was reported in the 100 block of Myrtle at around 2:32 p.m. A victim told police that an unknown suspect(s) used his debit card information and placed a phone order for BMW car parts. An investigation is pending.
Retail theft was reported at a store in the 900 block of S. York at around 9:13 a.m. A complainant told police that the suspects entered the store and loaded up approximately $4,000 worth of alcohol into two shopping carts, exited the store without paying for the merchandise, placed the items into their vehicle and left the scene. An investigation is pending.
Feb. 10-Feb. 11
Burglary to a vehicle was reported in the 700 block of N. Van Auken. A victim told police that an unknown suspect(s) entered his unlocked vehicle and scattered the contents throughout the vehicle. The victim stated that a checkbook was possibly missing from the center console.
Theft was reported in the 300 block of S. Spring. A victim told police that his wallet was stolen while he was at PADS. The wallet contained an Illinois driver’s license, cash, a debit card and two library cards. The driver’s license was entered into LEADS.
Burglary to a vehicle was reported in the 600 block of Mary Court sometime between the above dates. A victim told police that an unknown suspect(s) entered his unlocked vehicle and his unlocked shed located in the back yard. Multiple power tools was taken from the victim’s vehicle and shed.
Feb. 9
Burglary to a vehicle was reported in the 700 block of N. Larch at around 11:33 a.m. Police said the manager of a company states that between the hours of 1:44 and 2 a.m., an unknown suspect(s) burglarized two of their trucks and three vans. Video footage shows two individuals wearing gray hoodies and dark colored pants walking into the parking lot from the west.

Christopher Krieg, 30, of Villa Park, was charged with retail theft at a store in the 100 block of E. Schiller at around 6:38 p.m. Police said Krieg took alcohol and left the store without paying.
Feb. 7-Feb. 8
Burglary to a vehicle was reported in the 300 block of W. Grand. A victim told police that two semi-trailers were entered and had their security seals removed sometime between the above dates. Nothing appeared to be missing; however, one trailer contained sugar. The receiving company will not accept delivery now because it is considered to be a consumable item and may have been tampered with. Further investigation is pending.
Feb. 7
Asish Joseph, 36, of Lombard, was issued a citation for retail theft at a store in the 300 block of S. Route 83 at around 3 p.m. Police said Joseph was observed placing 8 sets of earrings into her coat pocket while walking through the store. According to police, Joseph left the store without paying for the items. She was detained in the store’s security office, and $93.31 worth of jewelry was recovered from her, according to police.
Identity theft was reported in the 100 block of N. Oak at around 4:14 p.m. Police said a victim received a collection notice from an outsourcing company, stating she owed money for a Verizon Wireless Account that was opened using her information. The victim contacted Verizon to dispute the charges and she was advised she needed a police report in order to have the charges removed. The account appeared to be open online.
Feb. 6
Identity theft was reported in the 100 block of S. Chandler at around 8:16 a.m. Police said a victim was informed by FNCC Business Service than an unknown suspect(s) leased a condominium in Riverview, Fla., using his name, driver’s license, Social Security number, phone number, address and signature. FNCC states that the suspect is a co-signer on the lease. Attempts to contact the suspect have been met with no results.
Feb. 5
Identity theft was reported in the 700 block of N. Emory at around 11:20 a.m. A victim told police that an unknown suspect used the victim’s personal information to open a checking account at Citi Bank. The account was opened online. The victim went to Citi Bank to report the fraud and closed the account. The victim also advised on Feb. 6 that an unknown suspect applied for an auto loan using the victim’s personal information. The loan was subsequently denied
Jan. 18
A vehicle was reported stolen in the 400 block of W. Grand at around 1:47 p.m. A complainant told police that he rented a vehicle for one of his employees to drive one way to Columbus, Ohio. The employee related that he dropped the vehicle off at the rental facility in Ohio and deposited the keys in the after-hours drop box. The rental company has no record of the vehicle being turned in, nor has the vehicle been located. The vehicle was entered into LEADS.

Identity theft was reported in the 200 block of E. South. A victim told police that an unknown suspect used her personal information to open a Comcast cable account and now has an outstanding balance. The victim does not want to pursue charges and wants a report as a matter of record only.
