The York girls bowling team is state-bound once again.
The Dukes took third at the recent Hinsdale South sectional in Woodridge and scooped up one of the four team-qualifying positions.
York heads to the state finals Friday and Saturday at Cherry Bowl in the Rockford suburb of Cherry Valley.
York is in the state finals for the third year in a row, the sixth time since 2012 and the fifth time under coach Katie Turnbull.
At Woodridge, the Dukes took third with a 5,665 pinfall, only two pins behind second-place Downers Grove South. Willowbrook, which won the West Suburban Conference, won the sectional at 5,702.
Junior Lauren Rickenbrode led the way for the Warriors with a 1,262 series. Senior Krystyna Panek had an 1,165, while junior Rose Klinger was at 1,135. Senior Ruby Noel finished with an 1,101, giving York four bowlers who cracked 1,100 in the sectional. Sophomore Holly Santucci and junior Caroline Collins combined to shoot a 999 with Santucci at 843 and Collins at 159.
