EAM presents tour of McCormick House

On 1:30 p.m. at the Elmhurst Art Museum, in the final day of his exhibition, interior architect Robert Kleinschmidt will give a tour about “McCormick House: 1952-59”, his designs for the domestic interior, and his history with other projects by Mies van der Rohe. Free with museum admission or current membership.

- At 10:30 a.m., persons age 8 through adult are invited to the Lizzadro Museum of Lapidary Art for a 75-minute program on Rock & Mineral ID. With Geologist Sara Kurth, learn to identify minerals through hands-on identification, observation and hardness tests. Great for rockhounds and Scouts, adult supervision is required. - At 1:30 p.m., ages 8-16 are invited to the Lizzadro Museum for Rockin’ Jewelry for Kids. Guests can make their own gemstone jewelry to keep. Choose two different types of jewelry to make with stones from the Museum Shop and learn how to work with jeweler’s tools. Completes Girl Scout Jeweler’s badge. Adult supervision required. At 7 p.m. at the Elmhurst Library, the League of Women Voters of Elmhurst will host a program called Fair Housing with HOPE led by Anne V. Houghtaling, an attorney who has worked in fair housing for more than 20 years. Free and open to the public. Not an Elmhurst Library activity.

Beginning at 3 p.m., the Elmhurst Symphony Orchestra will present “Trumpet Glory” at Elmhurst Christian Reformed Church, 149 W. Brush Hill Rd. Beginning at 7:30 p.m., Grammy-nominated guitarist Tommy Emmanuel will perform a concert in Hammerschmidt Chapel on the campus of Elmhurst College. The concert will benefit a scholarship fund named for his family at the College. The Elmhurst College Gretsch Guitar Ensemble will also perform. York High School drama department will perform Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing. Curtain times are 7:30 p.m. Thurs.-Sat. and 2 p.m. Sunday. At 7:30 p.m., The Most Rev. R. Daniel Conlon, bishop of the Joliet Diocese, will present “Did Jesus Really Intend to Establish a Church?” when he gives this year’s Joseph Cardinal Bernardin Lecture at Elmhurst College. At 4 p.m., families are invited to the EHM Education Center to make a beautifully detailed valentine inspired by the ornate cards showcased in the “Heart’s Desire” exhibit.
