The Elmhurst Police Department recently reported the following arrests and citations. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a conviction, and that subjects are considered innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. Juveniles age 17-or-younger are not named.
Assault, battery
Dec. 23
Sean T. Iacobellis, 20, of Elmhurst, was issued a citation for battery in the 100 block of E. Butterfield at around 6:47 p.m. Police said that while walking behind Iacobellis’ vehicle, the victim banged on the rear of the vehicle. Iacobellis exited the vehicle, approached the victim and shoved him, according to police.
Disorderly conduct
Dec. 28
A complainant in the 600 block of N. York told police at around 10:55 p.m. that a suspect came into the store, demanded to speak with the manager, cursed at the victim and stood outside the store for longer than an hour. The victim was alarmed by the suspect’s behavior. The suspect is a service technician for a company the complainant no longer does business with. An officer attempted to contact the suspect with no results.
Domestic battery, domestic incident
Jan. 2
A complainant in the 400 block of W. Butterfield told police at around 5:13 p.m. that a suspect attempted to grab her phone out of her hand. While reaching for the phone his body weight reportedly put pressure on her arm. Due to conflicting stories, lack of visible injuries, and unwillingness to sign complaints, no arrests were made. The suspect left the home for the evening.
Jan. 1
A 28-year-old Gary, Ind., woman was charged with state charges of DUI, two counts of domestic battery, illegal transportation of alcoholic liquor and driving without headlights when required near North and Route 83 at around 1:15 a.m. Police said officers were dispatched to a gas station in the above location for a report of a domestic. The complainant advised his ex-girlfriend was intoxicated and
keeps trying to fight him. Upon arrival, officers observed the female suspect driving out of the parking lot. A traffic stop was conducted for driving without headlights
and the driver was found to be intoxicated, according to police.
Dec. 26
A 38-year-old Elmhurst man was charged with domestic battery and unlawful interference with the reporting of domestic violence in the 500 block of Swain at around 7:13 p.m. Police said a reporting officer spoke to the victim who stated that the suspect had pushed her to the ground, pulled her hair and took her phone to prevent her from calling 911.
DUI, illegal transportation of alcohol, open alcohol in public, consumption of alcohol by a minor, public intoxication
Jan. 1
Jason Alexander, 39, of Maywood, was charged with DUI, speeding, improper lane usage and driving without headlights subsequent to a traffic stop near North and York at around 4:57 a.m. Police said the suspect’s vehicle had fresh front-end crash damage which was determined to have occurred in a hit-and-run crash in Northlake. The Northlake Police Department was notified.
Shadonay Freites, 23, of Cicero, was charged with DUI and no insurance in the 400 block of N. York at around 1:45 a.m. Police said that subsequent to a suspicious vehicle, Freites was located sleeping inside with the keys in the ignition, and was found to be DUI.
Chase J. Nacker, 20, of Countryside, was issued a citation for consumption of alcohol by a minor in the 100 block of N. Robert Palmer Drive at around 3:35 p.m.
Adam Pozzi, 30, of Chicago, was charged with DUI, improper lane usage and failure to signal subsequent to a traffic stop near First and York around 12:48 a.m.

Police said that subsequent to a 911 investigation at around 2:42 p.m., the suspects were found to be highly intoxicated and under the age of 21. The suspects were cited for consumption of alcohol by a
minor and transported to Elmhurst Hospital for treatment.
Dec. 30
Jerry Benson, 31, of Mount Prospect, was charged with aggravated DUI, driving while license suspended and improper parking/stopping on a roadway subsequent to a driver passed out behind the wheel near St. Charles and Lawndale at around 4:19 a.m.
Lupe DeLapuz, 28, of Hammond, Ind., was charged with DUI and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident near York and Industrial at around 7:22 p.m.
John Kerrigan, 53, of Elmhurst, was charged with DUI, parking in the roadway and no insurance subsequent to a call for what police said was an unconscious person in a vehicle parked in the middle of the roadway near Rex and Montrose at around 11:13 a.m.

Alexis M. Ramirez, 22, of Chicago, was charged with DUI, speeding, illegal transportation of alcohol, improper lane usage and no insurance subsequent to a traffic stop near North and York at around 2:06 a.m.
Francisco J. Zepeda-Ponce, 27, of Des Plaines, was charged with DUI, damage to city property, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and disobeying a stop sign subsequent to a traffic crash in the 400 block of N. Howard at around 5:29 a.m.

Donald E. Massey, 49, of Lockport, was charged with DUI, improper use of an electronic communication device and improper parking in a roadway subsequent to officers responding to a report of a subject passed out behind the wheel near Saylor and McKinley at around 11:22 p.m.
Fleeing, eluding
Dec. 28
Police said that while a reporting officer was on an extra patrol near Van Auken and Gladys at around 8:40 a.m., the officer observed the suspect’s vehicle with heavy tinted windows, violated a stop sign. When the officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle, the vehicle continued southbound onto eastbound Armitage at a high rate of speed. The officer lost sight of the vehicle after last seeing it westbound Gladys from Howard. The area was checked with no results.
Harassment, threats
Dec. 28
A victim in the 800 block of N. Eastland came into the police station at around 1:24 p.m. to report she received a threatening text from a suspect. The officer was unable to make contact with the suspect.
Dec. 27
A complainant told police at around 1:37 a.m. that his son received several text messages from a suspect relating something was going to happen to the victim because he was hanging out with the suspect’s girlfriend. An officer made contact with the suspect who admitted to sending messages to the victim and agreed to cease all contact.
Nov. 5
A complainant—the manager of a restaurant in the 100 block of N. York—told police at around 1:16 p.m. that a former employee has been harassing current employees and the business.
Obstruction
Jan. 2
Keith Campbell, 23, of Lombard, was charged with obstructing identification, driving while license revoked, no valid registration and no insurance near St. Charles and Route 83 at around 12:27 p.m. Police said Campbell supplied the officer with a fictitious name and date of birth. His true identity was established and he was found to have a revoked driver’s license, according to police.

Noor M. Qabalawi, 19, of Chicago, a passenger in a vehicle, was issued a citation for possession of cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia subsequent to a traffic stop near Route 83 and St. Charles at around 12:09 a.m.

Abel C. Medina, 22, of Glen Ellyn, was issued citations for possession of cannabis, driving while license suspended and speeding while Saul T. Mendoza, 21, of Glen Ellyn, was issued a citation for possession of cannabis subsequent to a traffic stop near St. Charles and Route 83 at around 12:26 a.m.
Francisco Uriostegui, 21, of Franklin Park, was issued a citation for possession of cannabis subsequent to a to a traffic stop near North and Myrtle at around 1:36 a.m.

Gustavo Garcia, 23, of Burbank, was issued citations for possession of cannabis, possession of drug paraphernalia and disobeying railroad gates subsequent to a traffic stop near St. Charles and Berkley at around 12:11 a.m.
Najhay D. Neal, 21, of Carol Stream, was issue citations for illegal transportation of alcohol, possession of cannabis and tinted windows subsequent to a traffic stop near St. Charles and Fair at around 10:45 a.m.

Elijah Hawkins, 21, of Carol Stream, was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance in the 500 block of W. Grand at around 10:50 p.m. Police said that subsequent to a suspicious vehicle, Hawkins was found to be in possession of cannabis and one MDMA pill.
Police said officers responded to the Elmhurst Hospital emergency room at around 6:50 p.m. for a report of a women who had just injected heroin. Contact was made with the suspect who admitted to using heroin and was found to be in possession of a syringe and unknown type of blue pill, according to police. Charges pending lab results.

Brenda Garcia-Latiolet, 22, of Northlake, was issued a citation for possession of cannabis subsequent to a traffic stop near North and Melrose at around 1:25 a.m.
Dec. 28
Amber Clanton, 24, of Bellwood, was issued citations for possession of cannabis, no valid registration and no insurance subsequent to a traffic stop near Mitchell and Garfield at around 4:42 p.m.
Candace A. Trent, 22, of Chicago, was issued citations for possession of cannabis, tinted windows and no insurance subsequent to a traffic stop near North End and Van Auken at around 9:36 a.m.
Police said an officer observed a parked, suspicious vehicle in the 100 block of N. Addison at around 9:51 p.m. which had the odor of cannabis coming from the open windows. Both juvenile occupants admitted to possessing cannabis and relinquished the cannabis to an officer, according to police. They were cited for possession of cannabis and released to their parents on scene.

Darnell P. Hill Washington, 25, of Chicago, was issued citations for possession of cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia subsequent to a traffic stop near North and Route 83 at around 12:50 a.m.
Suspicious circumstances
Dec. 31
A victim in the 300 block of W. Lake told police at around 2:28 p.m. that she misplaced her wallet while at Sky Zone and found that it was turned in to the front desk. When checking her wallet, the victim noticed the credit cards were missing. The suspect who had turned in the wallet was found to be in possession of the credit cards. The victim did not wish to pursue the matter. The suspect’s father was notified of the incident.
Dec. 29
A victim received a SnapChat at around 7:17 p.m. from a person he thought was a female schoolmate, asking him to meet at Jackson School. The victim arrived at the meeting location but did not see the female student whose name was on the SnapChat account. Instead, an older teenager described as a white male arrived and chased the victim home.
Theft/burglary/attempted theft or burglary/identity theft/fraud/forgery/deceptive practice/obstruction/robbery
Dec. 30
Police said an officer responded for a delayed report of a retail theft at a store in the 300 block of S. Route 83 at around 11:34 a.m. A complainant told police he was notified by an employee that a theft had occurred. He reviewed security video and confirmed that the suspect placed three clothing items into a shopping bag and fled the store on foot. The complainant believes additional items were stolen during the incident. The suspect was described as a white male in his 20s with a medium build, wearing a blue hoodie with red writing on the left sleeve and an insignia on the left chest, gray pants and light brown boots.
Identity theft was reported in the 300 block of W. Fremont at around 1:45 p.m. A victim told police that an unknown suspect(s) attempted to make two purchases from her Chase Visa credit card. Both charges were declined and there was no dollar loss to the
victim.
Dec. 27-Dec. 28
Burglary was reported at a business in the 100 block of W. Vallette sometime between the above dates. Police said that upon arrival, officers observed a shattered entrance door, the front reception desk ransacked and several cabinet doors opened.
Dec. 26
Theft was reported in the 1200 block of S. Prospect at around 6:22 p.m. A complainant told police that the suspect entered his residence and removed a gray laptop, black paper shredder and a Coleman® cooler. An investigation is pending.
Identity theft was reported at Walcott Court at around 8:24 a.m. A victim told police that an unknown suspect(s) changed her address with the US Postal Service. The victim is unaware who would change her address and has notified the U.S. Postal Service of the incident.
Dec. 19-Dec. 22
Identity theft was reported in the 400 block of N. York between the above dates. A complainant told police that a fraudulent prescription for 90 pills of Oxycodone® was filled in Palatine, using the victim’s DEA number. The victim was given an identity theft packet.
Nov. 2-Dec. 16
A victim in the 400 block of E. Vallette told police at around 4:28 p.m. that an unknown suspect(s) used his personal information to open three fraudulent credit card accounts between the above dates. The victim notified the creditors of the fraudulent accounts.
Nov. 28
Identity theft was reported in the 500 block of N. Elm at around 1:27 p.m. A victim came into the police station to report an unknown suspect hacked his PayPal account and transferred $720 from his bank checking account into his PayPal account. Further, the suspect changed the victim’s PayPal account shipping address, email and name on the account.
Oct. 24
Identity theft was reported in the 700 block of N. Michigan. A victim told police that unknown suspect(s) used her personal information to create a fraudulent Verizon wireless account and purchase an iPhone XS Max.
Warrant arrest
Jan. 2
Police said that Caitlin R. Denz, 24, of Lombard, came into the Elmhurst Police Department at around 1:54 p.m. to post bail for an individual in custody. Denz was found to have a valid warrant from the DuPage County Sheriff’s Office, according to police.
Police said that subsequent to a traffic stop near Palmer and Marion at around 12:39 a.m., Marshall Reed, 23, of Chicago, a passenger in the vehicle, was found to be wanted on a warrant by Chicago Police Department and was in possession of open alcohol in a motor vehicle. Reed was issued a citation for illegal Transportation of alcohol and was transported to the DuPage County Jail on the warrant.

Police said that subsequent to a traffic stop near Grand and Lamont at around 6:43 p.m., Fernando Torres-Ramos, 21, of Addison, was found to have no valid driver’s license and wanted on two warrants out of DuPage County. The suspect also was charged with no valid driver’s license and unlawful use of an electronic device.

Police said that officers responded for a call of a verbal domestic in the 200 block of W. Claremont at around 1:39 p.m. and it was learned that Chelsea Ruble, 29, of Vandalia, Ill., had a warrant out of DuPage County.
