Elmhurst Police Reports

The Elmhurst Police Department recently reported the following arrests and citations. Persons charged with domestic battery are not named in order to protect the privacy of victims. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a conviction, and that subjects are considered innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. Juveniles age 17-or-younger are not named.

Assault, battery

Dec. 20

A victim in the 600 block of W. North reported her coworker choked her at a party. An investigation is pending.

Dec. 19

Guadalupe Rodriguez, 45, Maywood, was issued a citation for battery in the 100 block of E. Brush Hill at 5:19 a.m. Subsequent to a verbal argument between coworkers, the suspect allegedly pushed the victim, causing a scratch to the victim’s arms.

Oct. 20

Nicholas M. Garcia, 40, of Bensenville, was charged with Aggravated Assault and Disorderly Conduct in the 100 block of S. Route 83 at 11:37 p.m. Police said Garcia was found to have pulled a knife on the victim after an argument.

Criminal damage

Dec. 21

A complainant at a car rental company in the 500 block of W. Grand reported an unknown suspect broke the back window on a parked vehicle using a large rock. Nothing is missing from the vehicle.

Domestic battery, domestic incident, disorderly conduct

Dec. 18

A 24-year-old Elmhurst man was charged with four counts of domestic battery in the 400 block of W. St. Charles at 8:30 p.m. A victim told police that after a verbal argument the suspect battered her.

Dec. 15

A reporting officer responded to a report of an unknown individual who allegedly entered a school in the 400 block of Spring without cause and was asked to leave. Jose L. Aranda Arce, 40, of Bensenville, was charged with trespassing and disorderly conduct.

DUI, DUI-drugs, consumption of alcohol by a minor, illegal possession of alcohol

Dec. 21

Kywanni L. Husband, 31, of Addison, was charged with DUI, suspended registration, improper lane usage, driving too fast for conditions and no insurance in the 600 block of W. Lake at 2:24 a.m.

Dec. 20

Rene Almodovar, 43 of Hillside, was charged with DUI, improper lighting, driving with expired plates, improper lane usage and improper turn at an intersection subsequent to a traffic stop near St. Charles and Poplar at 1:11 a.m.

Dec. 19

Jenal Rosado, 37, of Chicago, was charged with DUI and improper lane usage subsequent to a traffic stop near North and Kenilworth at 9:59 p.m.

Fleeing, eluding

According to information provided by the Elmhurst Police Department, police reported xxx incidents of fleeing and eluding during which a driver fled the scene after being stopped for a traffic stop by police.

Harassment, threats

Sept. 30-Dec. 17

A complainant in the 100 block of N. Haven reported that a suspect has been harassing her online between the above dates and made a suicidal statement. The reporting officer and an assisting agency made contact with the suspect who refused medical attention and agreed to cease all communication with the complainant.

Identity theft, fraud

According to information provided by the Elmhurst Police Department, police reported one incident of identity theft or fraud.

Possession of cannabis in a vehicle

According to information provided by the Elmhurst Police Department, police reported the following incident of possession of cannabis by either the driver of a vehicle or a passenger: Jonathan Q. Davis, 23, of Bellwood, near Roosevelt and Butterfield at 12:51 a.m. Dec. 17; Adrian I. Mendez, 21, of Bensenville, near York and Grantley at 9:38 p.m.; Patrick D. Gould, 33, of Chicago, near York and Industrial at 3:33 p.m. Dec. 18; and Ash-shura Baiy Brooks, 30, of Evanston, near York and I-290 at 8:06 p.m. Dec. 20.

Suspicious incident

Dec. 21

A victim in the 300 block of N. Route 83 reported at 10:28 p.m. that her ex-boyfriend followed her to the hotel at which she is currently staying The victim has an order of protection against the suspect, but it has not been served. Officers were unable to make contact with the suspect.

Theft, retail theft, burglary, false identification

Dec. 20

A complainant at a store in the 300 block of S. Route 83 told police that an unknown suspect left the store with unpaid merchandise. An investigation is pending.

A complainant at a restaurant in the 100 block of E. Brush Hill told police that an unknown suspect failed to pay for his delivery and left the area. An investigation is pending.

Dec. 19

Robert E. Barnes, 57, of Chicago, was charged with burglary, two counts of retail theft and possession of drug paraphernalia at a store in the 100 block of E. Schiller at 3:31 p.m. Barnes was observed allegedly concealing bottles of alcohol on her person.

Subsequent to a reported retail theft in progress at a store in the 100 block of E. Schiller, a responding officer observed two employees trying to prevent the suspect from leaving the store. Xavier Bolado, 54, of Chicago, was taken into custody and charged with retail theft.

Kacy J. Reed, 45, of Chicago, was charged with Unlawful possession of cannabis by a driver and driving while license suspended, while William Christian Jr., 52, of River Forest, was charged with burglary and retail theft at a store in the 100 block of E. Schiller at 5:05 p.m.

Theft,

Trey Veselik, 31, of Lisle, was charged with retail theft at a store in the 100 block of E. Schiller at 2:37 p.m. Police said Veselik was found to have left the store with unpaid merchandise.

A complainant at a business in the 700 block of Church told police a suspect was let go from the business, but failed to return a work-issued laptop and phone. The items were entered into LEADS.

Dec. 18

Jadequan K. May, 30, of Oak Park, was charged with retail theft and obstruction at a store in the 900 block of S. York at 7:18 p.m. While on patrol, an officer observed the suspect reportedly steal items from the above location. The suspect also allegedly provided a false name.

A complainant in the 600 block of N. York reported that an unknown suspect(s) allegedly stole his car key and wallet out of his unlocked locker and began making fraudulent purchases. On the above date, the suspect, Zakaria Mohamed, 24, of Columbus, Ohio, was located and taken into custody. Mohamed was charged with burglary and identity theft.

Dec. 15

While on patrol in the 900 block of S. York at 9:48 p.m., a reporting officer was informed by an employee that a suspect was allegedly concealing several food items on her person. Tatiana A. Szewczuk, 50, of Forest Park, was charged with retail theft.

A complainant at a store in the 900 block of S. York reported an unknown suspect left the business with a box containing several bottles of liquor without paying. An investigation is pending.

Nov. 30

A complainant at a pharmacy in the 100 block of N. Robert Palmer reports an unknown suspect concealed cosmetics and left without paying. An investigation is pending.

Warrant arrest

Dec. 21

Subsequent to a traffic stop near Grand and Oaklawn at 8:03 p.m., police said the driver of the vehicle, Brian T. Nguyen, 25, of Elmwood Park, was found to have a valid failure to appear warrant for traffic out of Northlake. He was processed on the warrant, charged with improper lighting and unlawful possession of cannabis by a driver, and released.

Dec. 18

Subsequent to the report of a suspicious person in the 100 block of E. Schiller at 10:54 p.m., police said Patrick J. Harty, 59, of Villa Park, was found to have a valid failure to appear warrant out of Cook County.
