Elmhurst Police Reports

The Elmhurst Police Department recently reported the following arrests and citations. Persons charged with domestic battery are not named in order to protect the privacy of victims. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a conviction, and that subjects are considered innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. Juveniles age 17-or-younger are not named.

Criminal damage, criminal trespassing

Nov. 14-Nov. 16

A complainant in the 400 block of E. Fullerton parked his vehicle in his driveway and later noticed his car door handle had been pried off his vehicle. The vehicle was locked and entry was not made.

Nov. 14

Debra Kaleta-Nigri, 61, of Hinsdale, was charged with trespassing to real property, and was served a no trespass notice in the 100 block of W. Butterfield at 12:41 p.m. Police said after the victim and officers repeatedly asked the Kaleta-Nigri to leave the property, she refused. Kaleta-Nigri also was charged with theft of services, and issued a no trespass notice at a restaurant in the 100 block of N. York at 3:06 p.m. Police said Kaleta-Nigri did not pay for the two glasses of wine and a salad she consumed. Additionally, Kaleta-Nigri was charged with criminal trespass to a residence in the100 block of W. Butterfield at 7:48 p.m. Police said officers responded to a report of Kaleta-Nigri trespassing at the above location. She had previously been issued a trespass notice and arrested for trespassing at the same address earlier in the day.

A complainant in the 600 block of W. Fay believed the suspect was illegally dumping in a wooded area near her residence, leading her to take pictures of him. The suspect confronted her and made threatening remarks. The complainant requested the suspect be trespassed from her property. The suspect was issued a no trespass notice.

Subsequent to a call for criminal damage to property near Wolcott Court, a victim related an unknown subject walked up to a flag by their front door and painted it.

Oct. 24-Nov. 14

A complainant at a school in the 100 block of W. Vallette told police she observed a rock thrown through the far west window on the back of the building. A reporting officer arrived on scene, observed a damaged window, and a rock on the window ledge.

Oct. 20

A complainant in the 700 block of N. Church reported someone damaged her vehicle while she was at work and requested the incident be documented.

Sept. 25

David Fisher, 57, of Elmhurst, was charged with criminal damage to property near Clinton and Third. According to police, a victim reported while driving northbound on Clinton from Third, someone yelled a profanity and threw something at his vehicle. Police said Fisher was identified, and on Nov. 17, her was taken into custody.

Domestic battery, domestic incident, disorderly conduct

Nov. 16

A 34-year-old Elmhurst man was charged with two counts of domestic battery and interfering with reporting of domestic violence in the 300 block of N. Myrtle at 6:32 p.m. The suspect was found to have battered the victim during a dispute.

A 36-year-old Chicago woman was charged with battery in the 900 block of S. Riverside at 10:14 p.m.

Nov. 15

A 38-year-old Elmhurst man was charged with domestic battery and criminal damage to property in the 100 block of E. Diversey at 5:26 a.m. Police said the suspect battered the victim and broke her phone during an argument.

Nov. 13

A 59-year-old Elmhurst woman was charged with domestic battery in the 100 block of E. North End at 9:36 p.m. Police said a complainant reported her mother threw a phone at her father after the two were involved in a verbal argument, striking him.

DUI, DUI-drugs, consumption of alcohol by a minor, illegal possession of alcohol

Nov. 15

Deyci M. Alanis, 31, of Maywood, was charged with aggravated DUI, DUI, driving while license revoked and improper lane usage, while Sergio Alanis, 36, of Maywood, was charged with possession of open alcohol by a passenger subsequent to a traffic stop near York and Fremont at 1:32 a.m.

Police said that while on a bar check in the 100 block of S. York at 11:20 p.m. a reporting officer observed the suspects inside the premise underage. Jennavieve M. Papa, 19 of Elmhurst, was issued citations for possession of alcohol by a minor, minor on license premise, and false use of an ID. Offender Jayla S. Spears, 20, of Bensenville, was issued citations for minor on license premise and false use of an ID. Jayda N. Mabry, 19, of Wood Dale, was issued a citation for minor on license premise.

Nov. 14

Nikella A. Thompson, 40, of Villa Park, was charged with DUI and improper lane usage near North and Indiana at 7:20 p.m.

Nov. 13

Julia Basciani, 38, of Wood Dale, was charged with DUI and endangering the health or life of a child in the 100 block of Fellows at 12:38 p.m.

Kyle Fahey, 37, of Elmhurst, was charged with DUI, DUI- drugs, failure to reduce speed to avoid a crash and no insurance in the 200 block of W. Claremont at 9:56 p.m.

Fleeing, eluding

According to information provided by the Elmhurst Police Department, police reported two incidents of fleeing and eluding during which a driver fled the scene after being stopped for a traffic stop by police.

Nov. 7

Christopher C. Henry, 38, of Bellwood, was charged with fleeing to elude and driving while license revoked near North and Ridgeland at 8:10 p.m.

Harassment, threats

Nov. 19

A complainant in the 900 block of W. Grand received threatening text messages from the suspect, who denied sending the messages.

Nov. 14-Nov. 18

A victim told police she has been continually harassed and threatened via text messages between the above dates. An investigation is pending.

Identity theft, fraud

According to information provided by the Elmhurst Police Department, police reported five incidents of identity theft or fraud.

Possession of cannabis in a vehicle

According to information provided by the Elmhurst Police Department, police reported the following incidents of possession of cannabis by either the driver of a vehicle or a passenger: Rael J. Sanchez, 41, of Gilbert, Arizona, near York and Diversey at 7:12 p.m. Nov. 15; and Wesley Herrera Sanchez, 28, of Chicago, near North End and York at 2:13 p.m. Nov. 14.

Possession of a controlled substance

Nov. 13

Subsequent to the report of a hit and run near Church and Grand at 9:18 a.m., police said the suspect’s vehicle was located and a traffic stop was conducted. According to police, Marcella T. Spizzirri, 40, of Addison, was found to be in possession of multiple controlled substances and was placed under arrest. She was charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, unlawful possession of cannabis by a driver, leaving the scene of a crash involving damage to an attended vehicle, improper lane usage and driving with expired plates.

Suspicious incident

Nov. 19

Mathew J. Williamson, 51, of Bensenville, was charged with obstructing a police officer in the 400 block of S. York at 10:36 p.m. Subsequent to the report of a subject laying in the parkway, police said the subject was found highly intoxicated. Police said the subject refused to comply with officers and was transported to Endeavor Elmhurst Hospital for treatment.

Nov. 17

Subsequent to a call for a burglary to motor vehicle in the 400 block of W. Butterfield, a victim related her trunk handle was missing from her vehicle and appeared to have been pried off of the vehicle.

Theft, retail theft, burglary, false identification

Nov. 19

Aidan Clark, 20, of Morton Grove, was issued citations for possession of a fictitious driver’s license and disobeying a traffic control device subsequent to a traffic stop near Maple and Third.

Marvin L Muse Jr., 46, of Martinsville, Virginia, was charged with burglary and unlawful possession of credit cards in the 100 block of Brush Hill.

A complainant in the 100 block of N. York told police that an unknown suspect(s) stole her wallet and began using her credit cards to make various purchases. An investigation is pending.

Nov. 18

Subsequent to a call for a retail theft at a store in the 300 block of S. Route 83, a complainant told police he found several security wraps within the changing room. The complainant observed two suspects leave, carrying unpaid merchandise. An investigation is pending.

Nov. 17

Jorge Diaz, 34 (residence not given), was charged with two counts of retail theft at a store in the 300 block of S. Route 83. A complainant told police the suspect was allegedly stealing items from the store.

Nov. 14

Ewa Reszka, 70, of Glen Ellyn, was charged with theft in the 600 block of W. North at 9:01 p.m. Police said the suspect was found to be in possession of the victim’s stolen iPhone.

According to police, a complainant at a store in the 100 block of E. Schiller reported a suspect walked out of the business with unpaid merchandise. The suspect then reportedly entered the passenger seat of a vehicle and left the area. Officers initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle an hour later and the driver was taken into custody. However, the passenger was not present. The driver, Randall S. Scott, 36, of Northlake, was charged with possession of controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Nov. 13

Tornalia D. Johnson, 27, of Joliet, was charged with burglary, retail theft, and resisting a police officer, while Dayasia M. Walker, 27, of Kankakee, was charged with burglary and retail theft at a store in the 300 block of S. Route 83 at 5:23 p.m.

A complainant at a store in the 900 block of S. York reported confronting three unknown suspects who were caught shoplifting inside the business. The suspects dropped the merchandise and fled in a vehicle. Officers were unable to locate the suspects.

Nov. 10

A suspect was observed on camera footage removing merchandise without paying from a store in the 300 block of S. Route 83.

Warrant arrest

Nov. 14

Police said that subsequent to a traffic stop near North and Villa at 8:03 a.m., Eva Flores Onofre, 53, of Berwyn, was found to have an active failure to appear warrant out of DuPage County. She was processed on the warrant, and also was issued a citation for passing on the shoulder of the road.
