The Elmhurst Police Department recently reported the following arrests and citations. Persons charged with domestic battery are not named in order to protect the privacy of victims. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a conviction, and that subjects are considered innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. Juveniles age 17-or-younger are not named.
Assault, battery
Oct. 12
Police said that subsequent to the report of a disturbance in the 800 block of N. Willow at 11:31 p.m., Marissa M. Bende, 29, of Elmhurst, ran and was found to be hiding from police. When located she allegedly assaulted an officer, became combative, and resisted arrest. She was charged with two counts of aggravated battery two counts of attempted aggravated assault and resisting arrest.
Domestic battery, domestic incident, disorderly conduct
Oct. 12
Christopher J. Dwyer, 38, of Elmhurst, was served with a trespass notice and cited for disorderly conduct in the 600 block of W. Fay at 11:55 a.m. Police said a victim reported the suspect came into her yard and started yelling at her Halloween decorations and the victim.
Oct. 10
A complainant in the 100 block of S. Prospect told police the suspect reportedly yelled at her and demanded to take down the flag on a register. He allegedly continued to swear and yell at her but eventually left. Alister J. Romeo, 50, of Elmhurst, was issued a citation for disorderly conduct and served with a no trespass notice.
Police said that subsequent to a call for a domestic in the 100 block of E. Butterfield, a complainant related the male suspect shoved the female suspect into the vehicle. Subsequent to a search of the vehicle, a controlled substance was located. Both suspects were placed under arrest and transported to the police station. Chelsea Rooney, 34, of Park City, Ill., was charged with possession of a controlled substance. A 37-year-old Park City man was charged with possession of a controlled substance and domestic battery.

Oct. 11
Luke A. Bukovsky, 25, of Elmhurst, was charged with DUI and failure to reduce speed to avoid a crash in the 200 block of S. Route 83 at 6:09 p.m.
Fleeing, eluding
According to information provided by the Elmhurst Police Department, police reported one incident of fleeing and eluding during which a driver fled the scene after being stopped for a traffic stop by police.
Harassment, threats
Oct. 14
A complainant in the 600 block of S. Spring reported that a suspect has been posting defamatory remarks about them on social media.
Oct. 13
A complainant in the 200 block of N Maison told police a suspect has been harassing him on Facebook.
Oct. 12
A victim in the 100 block of E. Van Buren reported receiving multiple threatening phone calls and text messages from an unknown person(s).
Identity theft, fraud
According to information provided by the Elmhurst Police Department, police reported two incidents of identity theft or fraud.
Possession of cannabis in a vehicle
According to information provided by the Elmhurst Police Department, police reported the following incident of possession of cannabis by either the driver of a vehicle or a passenger: Marcelo F. Reyes, 36, of Chicago, near North and Elm at 4:04 p.m. Oct. 9.
Suspicious incident
Oct. 4-Oct. 9
A victim in the 100 block of S. Prospect related she was scammed on Instagram after giving her information to an unknown subject. Several deposits were made to her bank account, but they were all pending and eventually came back out of her account. The victim is not out any money and will change her bank account information.
Theft, retail theft, burglary
Oct. 14
A complainant in the 600 block of W. Lake reported an employee allegedly stole packages that he was instructed to deliver. On the above date, Brandon Aguilar, 24, of Chicago, was taken into custody and charged with theft by deception.
Oct. 12
Police said that subsequent to a call for a delayed fraud at a restaurant in the 400 block of N. York, John Sherman, 21, of Elmhurst, and Samson J. Barr, 21, of Gilbert, were located and taken into custody. According to police, both suspects admitted to committing identity theft and theft by deception by obtaining credit card numbers online sometime between Feb. 2 and Feb. 8, 2024. On the above date, both suspects were taken into custody and charged with identity theft.
A complainant in the 100 block of W. Brush Hill reported the victim, who had recently passed away, was missing a necklace.
Oct. 11
A complainant in the 200 block of N. Addison told police that an unknown person(s) stole boxes of tea, books, comforters, and miscellaneous cleaning supplies.
Oct. 5-Oct. 10
A complainant in the 100 block of W. Adelaide told police that an unknown person(s) took her aunt’s gold necklace.
Oct. 10
Ronnie M. Esposito, 37, of Schiller Park, was charged with burglary and two counts of retail theft at a store in the 900 block of S. York.
Police said that subsequent to a report of a retail theft in progress at a store in the 900 block of S. York, Avery Walker, 37, of Chicago, admitted to stealing two bottles of tequila. Walker was charged with two counts of retail theft.
Oct. 9
A complainant in the 100 block of N. Addison reported an unknown suspect(s) removed items from his locked locker. The complainant’s driver’s license, credit cards, and clothes were all taken. The area was checked with no results
Oct. 7
A complainant in the 400 block of W. Butterfield told police that she sent money using various payment methods to an unknown person. An investigation is pending.
Warrant arrest
Oct. 12
Police said that Subsequent to a traffic stop near Grand and York at 9:51 p.m., the driver—Elias E. Gomez Encinos, 20, of Bensenville— did not have a valid driver’s license and had a valid failure to appear warrant out of DuPage County. He was processed on the warrant, and issued citations for no valid driver’s license, expired registration and possession of open alcohol by a driver.
Oct. 10
Police said Jill Finan, 59, of Elmhurst, came into the police station reference a prior case and was found to have a valid failure to appear warrant out of DuPage County for retail theft. Finan was placed under arrest and transported to the DuPage County Jail.
