The Elmhurst Police Department recently reported the following arrests and citations. Persons charged with domestic battery are not named in order to protect the privacy of victims. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a conviction, and that subjects are considered innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. Juveniles age 17-or-younger are not named.
Battery
May 25
Hector Manzanares, 43, of Roselle, was charged with aggravated assault, resisting a police officer and battery, while Jordy Morales, 31, of Chicago, was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance and DUI in the 600 block of W. North at 3:41 a.m. Police said that subsequent to the report of intoxicated subjects at the above location, a responding officer was assaulted by Manzanares.
Luke W. Mellens, 42, of Hinsdale, was charged with battery and served a no-trespass notice in the 100 block of N. York. Police said that subsequent to the report of a customer dispute, it was determined that Mellens pushed the victim after a verbal altercation.
Damage to property
May 24
A complainant in the 300 block of E. Yorkfield reported an unknown suspect(s) damaged his fence.
May 23
Raymond L. Scheeler, 44, of Centralia, Missouri, was issued citations for failure to give information, improper lane usage, and damage to city property.
Domestic battery, disorderly conduct, domestic issue
May 25
Police said that subsequent to the report of a domestic in the 100 block of S. West, a complainant related the suspect battered him after a verbal altercation. Due to conflicting statements and no physical signs of harm, no arrests were made. Both parties were advised to separate.
May 24
Police said that subsequent to the report of a domestic in the 500 block of W. Third, a complainant related she witnessed a victim being battered by her boyfriend. The victim denied being struck by the suspect. Due to conflicting stories, no arrests were made. Both parties were advised to separate.
May 23
Police said officers responded to the 300 block of E. Huntington at 12:06 a.m. for a report of a domestic battery. The complainant reported the suspect had battered him during an argument. Due to conflicting statements and no visible injuries, no arrests were made. Both parties agreed to separate for the night.
May 8
A complainant in the 300 block of N. Van Buren reported the suspect pushed her after a verbal altercation. An investigation is pending.
DUI, DUI-drugs, consumption of alcohol by a minor, illegal possession of alcohol
May 26
Police said that Subsequent to a traffic stop near North and York at 12:58 a.m., Justin I. Arroyo, 27, of Chicago, was found to be driving under the influence of alcohol, Carlos M. Villarreal, 26, of river Grove, was found to be in possession of a controlled substance, and Jaylani A. Mendez, 19 of Chicago, was found to be in possession of open alcohol. Mendez was cited for possession of open alcohol, Arroyo was charged with DUI, failure to signal when required, speeding, no seatbelt and no insurance, and Villarreal was charged with possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of cannabis, possession of open alcohol and no seatbelt.
Identity theft, fraud
According to information provided by the Elmhurst Police Department, police reported no incidents of identity theft or fraud.
Possession of cannabis in a vehicle
According to information provided by the Elmhurst Police Department, police reported three incidents of possession of cannabis by either the driver of a vehicle or a passenger: Joseph M. Nutoni Jr., 38, of Lombard, near I-290 and St. Charles at 1:02 a.m. May 25; David Gomez, 22, of Berwyn, near North and York at 3:06 a.m. May 25; and Antonio E. Diaz Vazquez, 25, of Addison, in the 800 block of N. York at 7:59 a.m. May 26.
Suspicious incident
May 25
Peter Alcantar, 23, of Glendale Heights, was charged with possession of ammunition without a valid FOID, disobeying a traffic control signal and driving with expired registration subsequent to a traffic stop near North and York at 3:06 a.m.
May 23
While on patrol near I-290 and York at 1:31 a.m., a reporting officer observed a vehicle which was report stolen out of Chicago. The reporting officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop. The driver of the vehicle failed to stop and fled at a high rate of speed eastbound I-290. An ISPERN message was broadcasted.

May 25
A complainant at a store in the 400 block of N. York told police that two unknown suspects stole alcohol at the above location. An investigation is pending.
May 22
A complainant in the 100 block of S. Prospect reported an unknown suspect(s) had entered her dorm room and taken money.
Warrant arrest
May 23
Police said that Subsequent to a traffic stop near Route 83 and North at 9:30 p.m., Ricardo Gomez Diaz, 41, of Bensenville, was found to have a valid failure to appear warrant out of DuPage County. Gomez Diaz also was, charged with driving while license suspended, no valid license and speeding.
May 22
Police said Christopher Diego, 25, of Northlake, was found to have three active failure to appear warrants subsequent to a traffic stop near York and Fullerton at 5:28 p.m. He also was charged with no seat belt by a passenger.
