Elmhurst Police Reports

The Elmhurst Police Department recently reported the following arrests and citations. Persons charged with domestic battery are not named in order to protect the privacy of victims. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a conviction, and that subjects are considered innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. Juveniles age 17-or-younger are not named.

Battery

May 1

Christine V. Sunogan, 49, of Lincolnwood, was charged with battery and criminal trespass to land in the 100 block of N. Haven. Police said that subsequent to a criminal trespass to property in progress, the suspect was located inside the building after having previously been issued a no-trespass notice. When confronted by an employee, the suspect kicked him multiple times in the foot, according to police.

April 29

Police said that subsequent to a report of an attempted battery in the 400 block of N. Van Auken at 9:49 a.m., a  victim related his neighbor attempted to batter him with a metal pipe after knocking on his door. Gerald L. Pellegrini, 67, of Elmhurst, was charged with attempted aggravated assault, two counts of criminal damage to property and criminal trespass to property.

Criminal trespassing, criminal damage

May 3

Christine V. Sunogan, 49, of Lincolnwood, was charged with criminal trespass to land in the 100 block of E. Schiller at 4:40 p.m.

Domestic battery, disorderly conduct, domestic issue

May 4

Police said officers responded to the 600 block of W. North at 10:01 p.m. for the report of a domestic. Upon officers’ arrival, the complainant related the suspect grabbed her hand aggressively after a dispute. The reporting officer spoke with the suspect who denied the allegations. An investigation is pending.

May 2

A 28-year-old Elmhurst woman was charged with domestic battery in the 200 block of N. West at 11:22 p.m. Police said it was determined the suspect slapped the victim after a dispute.

DUI, consumption of alcohol by a minor, illegal possession of alcohol

May 7

Arsalan Azeem, 37, of Elmhurst, was charged with DUI in the 400 block of W. St. Charles at 1:48 a.m.

May 3

Daniel J. Lamczyk, 42, of Northlake, was charged with DUI, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and no insurance near Grand and County Line at 6:01 p.m.

Fleeing, eluding

According to information provided by the Elmhurst Police Department, police reported xxx incidents of fleeing and eluding during which a driver fled the scene after being stopped for a traffic stop by police.

Harassment, threats

May 4

Police said a victim in the 200 block of E. Third related she’s received harassing messages through email. An investigation is pending.

Identity theft, fraud

According to information provided by the Elmhurst Police Department, police reported five incidents of identity theft or fraud.

Possession of cannabis in a vehicle

According to information provided by the Elmhurst Police Department, police reported one incident of possession of cannabis by either the driver of a vehicle or a passenger: Luis A. Diaz, 67, and Sarah H. Brant, 47, both of Villa Park, near Thomas and Monterey at 6:39 p.m. May 5.

Possession of a controlled substance

May 3

Wade E. King, 33, of Rolling Meadows, was charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and no front registration plate subsequent to a traffic stop near Industrial and York at 7:31 p.m.

Suspicious incident

May 7

A complainant in the 400 block of N.  Oak reported an unknown suspect pulled into the complainant’s driveway and attempted to sell him a cell phone and Airpods. No transaction was completed and the vehicle left the area.

May 1

Police said that subsequent to a report of a suspicious vehicle, a dark blue Hyundai Elantra with heavy damage was located in the 100 block of Fellow Court. It was determined to be stolen out of Forest Park. The Forest Park Police Department was contacted and notified of the recovery.

Theft, retail theft, burglary, attempted theft or burglary, forgery, deceptive practice, obstruction, robbery

May 7

Jose A. Vasquez, 32, of Melrose Park, was charged with retail theft at a store in the 900 block of S. York at 8:12 p.m. Police said officers observed the suspect exit the business without paying for merchandise in his possession.

May 5

Antonio A. Banks, 56, of Evanston, was charged with retail theft at a store in the 900 block of S. York at 8:46 p.m. Police said an officer observed the suspect exit the business appearing to conceal items inside his jacket. The officer made contact with the suspect, who admitted to stealing two bottles of alcohol, according to police.

May 2

A complainant in the 600 block of N. York reported while being distracted by a suspect, the other removed money and a wallet from her purse. An investigation is pending.

May 1

Elisandra A. Benavides, 23, of Berwyn, and Jessica B. Matos, 25, of Chicago, were charged with retail theft at a pharmacy in the 100 block of N. Robert Palmer at 2:42 p.m. Police said a complainant informed officers that another employee had observed the suspects concealing merchandise and then leaving the business without paying.
