Lombard police report—September 26

INFORMATION TAKEN FROM LOMBARD POLICE FILES

The Lombard Police Department recently reported the following arrests and citations. Persons charged with domestic battery are not named in order to protect the privacy of victims. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a conviction, and that subjects are considered innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. Juveniles age 17 or younger are not named.

Criminal damage, trespassing

Sept. 12

While on a directed patrol in the 1000 block of E. Wilson at 2:22 a.m., an officer observed a broken window at a building. The owner of the building advised it was not broken when he left, and believes it might have been his ex-wife who broke it.

A complainant at the Westin, 70 Yorktown, advised at 6:41 a.m. that an LED advertisement screen was toppled over, possibly by hotel staff.

Sept. 9

An employee in the 1300 block of S. Finley reported at 9:38 a.m. that an unknown suspect cut the wires to the stop arm and gas cap on the bus she drives, and stole the stop sign from the bus.

Domestic battery, disorderly conduct, domestic incident, dispute, disturbance

Sept. 15

A complainant in the 500 block of W. Pleasant advised at 1:02 p.m. of ongoing issues with a resident who strikes the complainant’s door camera with bags as the subject walks by.

A complainant in the 1-100 block of N. Park accused a subject of pushing her over near where each of their laundry was placed.

Sept. 14

A complainant in the 700 block of S. School advised at 12:10 a.m. that two males had egged her residence. An officer searched the area for suspects, with no results.

A physical altercation occurred between a victim and her ex-girlfriend in the 200 block of E. 22nd at 9:10 p.m.

Sept. 11

A complainant in the 100 block of W. Harrison said his father pushed him because he snuck his girlfriend into the house.

DUI, transportation of open alcohol

Sept. 14

Steven Hoffswell, 57, of Lombard, was charged with DUI, failure to yield and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident near S. Highland and E. Roosevelt at 11:57 p.m.

Fleeing, eluding

According to information provided by the Lombard Police Department, police reported one incident of fleeing and eluding during which the driver of a motorcycle fled the scene after being stopped for a traffic stop by police.

Harassment, threats

Sept. 14

A juvenile victim in the 300 block of S. Elizabeth sent inappropriate photos of himself to unknown suspects, who are now asking for money.

Sept. 10

A complainant in the 1100 block of S. Main said he received threatening messages from a subject, but an officer did not see any threats made in the messages.

Sept. 9

A juvenile at Glenn Westlake Middle School, 1514 S. Main, reportedly made a threat toward another juvenile.

Identity theft, fraud

According to information provided by the Lombard Police Department, police reported four incidents of identity theft or fraud between Sept. 9 and Sept. 15.

Road rage

Sept. 13

A complainant in the 1100 block of W. Whitehall told police at 4:52 p.m. that a male driver gave her the finger and took a photo of her license plate.

Suspicious incident

Sept.14

A complainant at Extended Stay America, 2701 E. Technology, advised on the above date that someone attempted to enter her room at 12:32 a.m. Sept. 10, but was unsuccessful.

Sept. 12

A complainant at a restaurant in the 400 block of E. 22nd advised at 6:56 a.m. that his family was holding him against his will. Officers could not locate the complainant.

There was a report of possible shots being fired in the 200 block of S. Westmore-Meyers at 4:42 p.m. Officers were unable to locate any evidence of a shooting.

Sept. 11

A complainant in the 500 block of S. Kelly said a driver got out of a silver Acura, took pictures of her house and then drove off.

Sept. 10

An employee at Chicago Pain and Wellness Institute, 665 W. North, advised that a subject described as a black male entered the business with a scan card without authorization to do so. He left when confronted.

Sept. 9

A complainant in the 600 block of W. Glenwood reported receiving an extortion email after renting a vehicle through a car rental marketplace.

A complainant at a store in the Yorktown Mall reported a store employee, a juvenile, was asking inappropriate questions toward the complainant’s children. The store manager will address the employee’s behavior.

A complainant in the 400 block of S. Stewart told police his Ring doorbell camera was activated and a subject descried as a white male was seen looking inside the house window. The subject then left the area.

A caller reported at 7:24 a.m. that kids at a bus stop near S. Martha and E. Maple were playing with a knife that had been left on the ground. The knife was collected.

A complainant at Fruitful Yield, 229 W. Roosevelt, reported at 9:26 a.m. that a homeless person was swearing at customers. The homeless person denied that the incident occurred and left the area.

Theft, burglary, attempted theft or burglary, forgery, deceptive practice, obstruction, robbery

Sept. 10

A victim in the 2200 block of S. Highland reported her 2016 Infiniti was stolen from the complex parking lot.

Retail theft

The Lombard Police Department reported the following incidents of retail theft or attempted retail theft that took place in the village between Sept. 9 and Sept. 15: Von Maur, 145 Yorktown, at 12:28 p.m. Sept. 12; Target, 60 Yorktown, at 4:45 p.m. Sept. 12; Dick’s Sporting Goods, 810 E. Butterfield, at 5:57 p.m. Sept. 13.

Sept. 14

Yorktown Mall loss prevention advised at 1:55 p.m. that two former Last Chance employees stole merchandise in November 2023.

Sept. 9

Kenneth Lollar, 24, of Chicago, was issued a citation for retail theft at Target, 60 Yorktown, at 2:46 p.m.

Violation of an order of protection

Sept. 15

Christopher Shukin, 34, homeless, was charged with violation of an order of protection and criminal trespassing in the 100 block of W. June at 8:20 a.m.

Sept. 13

Christopher Shukin, 34, homeless, was charged with violation of an order of protection and criminal trespassing in the 100 block of W. June at 4:39 p.m.

Sept. 12

Tyler Presco, 29, of Lombard, was charged with violation of an order of protection in the 1-100 block of W. Harrison at 8:45 a.m.

Warrant arrest

Sept. 14

Police said Kyle Hill, 33, of Chicago, was issued citations for speeding and driving without a license, and was given a notice to appear warrant in the 300 block of E. Roosevelt at 2 a.m.

Police said Maribel Hurtado Pina, 33, of Lombard, was released on a pre-trial release on a failure to appear warrant in the 700 block of E. North at 12:29 p.m.

Sept. 13

Police said Clifton McKinnis, 43, of Villa Park, was given a notice to appear warrant and charged with driving while registration was suspended and no insurance near S. Westmore-Meyers and E. Norton at 4:21 p.m.

Police said Jovantae Withers, 30, of Broadview, was found yelling outside of SureStay Plus, 222 E. 22nd, at 1:06 a.m. and was wanted on a warrant out of Hillside.

Sept. 11

Police said Joseph Panici, 21, of Crest Hill, had an outstanding warrant from the Woodridge Police Department in the 2700 block of S. Highland. Panici was transferred to a Woodridge officer on the scene.

Sept. 10

Police said Hosni Vilchez, 39, of Lombard, was arrested on an original traffic warrant, processed at the Lombard Police Department and released on a pre-trial release.
