Lombard police report—September 12

INFORMATION TAKEN FROM LOMBARD POLICE FILES

The Lombard Police Department recently reported the following arrests and citations. Persons charged with domestic battery are not named in order to protect the privacy of victims. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a conviction, and that subjects are considered innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. Juveniles age 17 or younger are not named.

Assault, battery

Aug. 27

A complainant reported at 6:08 a.m. of being sexually assaulted twice in Lombard.

Criminal damage, trespassing

Aug. 30
An employee at Discount Tire, 1060 W. Roosevelt, said he noticed pry marks on an exterior door. The employee said no entry was gained. There is no suspect information or surveillance footage.

Aug. 28
Avinash Panjwani, 25, of Lombard, was charged with criminal damage in the Yorktown Mall at 3:40 p.m. Police said the suspect dumped paint on the floor.

Aug. 27
Jesse Martin Gomez, 32, of Lombard, was charged with criminal damage to property at Punky’s, 15 S. Park, at 12:52 a.m.

Aug. 26
Amber N. Cooper, 20, of Chicago, and Morris J. Powell, 29, of Wheaton, were issued citations for criminal trespass to property at National University of Health Sciences, 200 E. Roosevelt, at 8:30 p.m.

A victim in the 300 block of W. Edson reported a window of his vehicle was damaged by someone possibly using a BB gun.

DUI, transportation of open alcohol

Sept. 1
Domonique Sessom, 39, of Carol Stream, was charged with DUI, possession of a controlled substance, endangering the life of a child, speeding, possession of a concealed firearm while under the influence of alcohol and no insurance near W. Roosevelt and S. Finley at 1:33 a.m.

Aug. 31
Wilmar Hernandez-Gomez, 28, of Lombard, was charged with aggravated DUI, no valid driver’s license and no insurance near S. Joyce and E. North at 5:46 p.m.

Aug. 27
Jose Ivan Salazar, 41, of Aurora, was charged with DUI near S. Finley and W. Roosevelt at 9:15 p.m.

Endangering the life of a child

Aug. 26
Carlos Lopez-Zunun, 37, of Villa Park, was charged with endangering the life of a child, supervising a minor driver while under the influence, child safety violations, permitting an unauthorized person to drive, and possession of open alcohol by a passenger, while Yennifer Cabans Tadeo, 30, of Villa Park, was charged with resisting a police officer, endangering the life of a child, obstructing an officer, and supervising a minor driver while under the influence near N. Lincoln and W. Roy at 2:01 a.m.

Fleeing, eluding

According to information provided by the Lombard Police Department, police reported one incident of fleeing and eluding during which the driver of a motorcycle fled the scene after being stopped for a traffic stop by police.

Harassment, threats

Aug. 31
A complainant in the 100 block of W. St. Charles advised that he and a subject had been communicating via social media when the subject’s communications became threatening. An officer later contacted the subject via phone, but the subject advised the same about the complainant’s communications. The officer advised both to block each other on all social media.

Aug. 30
The FBI contacted the Lombard Police Department regarding a Snapchat post of a school threat. The threat was confirmed but not valid.
A complainant at Walgreens, 225 E. Roosevelt, said she was being harassed by someone. A store manager asked the complainant to stop bothering customers and she agreed to leave the area.

Aug. 26
A business in the 2500 block of S. Finley received a long message from a subject who threatened to harm employees. The message was left in December, 2023, but was not found until now.

Identity theft, fraud

According to information provided by the Lombard Police Department, police reported 10 incidents of identity theft or fraud between Aug. 26 and Sept. 1.

Possession of cannabis

Aug. 30
Zarrion Hobson, 18, of Glendale Heights, was issued a citation for possession of cannabis near Church and E. Roosevelt at 11:16 p.m.

Road rage

Aug. 31
A complainant in the 100 block of E. Roosevelt advised at 3:38 p.m. that a motorcycle driver drove around him and shouted profanities at him.

Suspicious incident

Sept. 1
A complainant at the Yorktown Mall advised at 8:42 p.m. that a female subject tricked him into taking drugs, then hacked his phone so he could not make any calls.

Aug. 30
A victim near W. Meadow and N. Columbine was jogging along the Great Western Trail early in the morning when she observed a subject described as a white male who was standing by the trail and masturbating. Several officers checked the area and were unable to locate the subject.

A complainant in the 300 block of W. Madison reported a male juvenile pulled on their locked back door on Aug. 29, then rang the doorbell. He returned later and rang the doorbell.

A juvenile at Glenbard East High School ran out of the school and may have had a gun on him. The juvenile was located. Officers and a K9 officer searched the area. The K9 located contraband but no weapon.

Aug. 28
A complainant in the 700 block of E. North advised of being threatened with a gun by a member of a cartel, but could not provide a name. The complainant wanted police to check his home. He was also concerned for his family in Mexico. Officers checked the home and everything appeared to be secured.

Theft, burglary, attempted theft or burglary, forgery, deceptive practice, obstruction, robbery

Sept. 1
A victim at Embassy Suites, 707 E. Roosevelt, advised that upon checkout, she left her Apple watch charging in the room. The watch, which was not located in the lost and found section, pinged to a Chicago address.
A complainant at Marshalls, 102 Yorktown, advised that her wallet was stolen while she was at the store.

Aug. 29
Ayanna Borowski, 18, of Schaumburg, was charged with possession of a stolen motor vehicle and unlawful display of registration, while Daija Washington, 20, of Carol Stream, was charged with criminal trespass to motor vehicle near Roosevelt and Fairfield at 2:41 a.m.

Aug. 28
A complainant in the 1000 block of S. Westmore-Meyers said someone stole the catalytic convertor from her 2008 Honda.

Aug. 26
A victim in the 100 block of N. Main reported that her flagpole was knocked over and the American flag on it was stolen on Aug. 20. There is no suspect information.

Retail theft

The Lombard Police Department reported the following incidents of retail theft or attempted retail theft that took place in the village between Aug. 26 and Sept. 1: CVS, 1105 E. Roosevelt, at 12:48 p.m. Aug. 27; Jewel-Osco, 1177 S. Main, at 7:01 p.m. Aug. 30; and Jewel-Osco, 1177 S Main, at 6:06 a.m. Sept. 1.

Sept. 1
Christine Geberbauer, 40, of Lombard was issued a citation for retail theft at Target, 60 Yorktown, at 4:19 p.m.

Aug. 31
Mayola Chavez, 49, of Westchester, was issued a citation for retail theft at Von Maur, 145 Yorktown, at 1:54 p.m.
Jocelyn Ojeda, 20, and Yatzel Artega Covarrubias, 20, both of Melrose Park, were issued citations for retail theft at JCPenney, 175 Yorktown, at 1:58 p.m.

Aug. 29
Crushona Kiser, 20, of Chiago, was issued a citation for theft at Von Maur, 145 Yorktown, at 3:30 p.m.

Aug. 26
James Chiminski, 46, of Bolingbrook, was charged with retail theft at Von Maur, 145 Yorktown, at 7:51 p.m. Chiminski was later transported to the DuPage County Jail on an outstanding arrest warrant.

Warrant arrest

Aug. 29
Police said Michelle Ayres, 52, homeless, was refusing to leave the home of a complainant, and was transported directly to the DuPage County Jail on DuPage and Kane County warrants in the 1100 block of E. Woodrow at 10:52 a.m.

Aug. 28
Police said David Hritz, 21, of Lombard, was picked up in the 200 block of E. Harrison at 8:54 p.m. and turned over to the Glendale Heights Police Department on their warrant.

Aug. 27
Police said Allen A. Gangi, 48, of Lombard, was served a DuPage County warrant in the 2700 block of E. Technology at 4:31 a.m.
Police said Clinecea Phillips, 25 of Lombard, was arrested on an original warrant at 11:42 a.m. and later transported to the DuPage County Jail.

Aug. 26
Police said Jalen Wilmington, 24, of Naperville, was issued a citation for expired plates and signed a pre-trial recognizance for a failure to appear warrant in the 900 block of E. Roosevelt at 1 a.m.
