Lombard police report—August 29

INFORMATION TAKEN FROM LOMBARD POLICE FILES

The Lombard Police Department recently reported the following arrests and citations. Persons charged with domestic battery are not named in order to protect the privacy of victims. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a conviction, and that subjects are considered innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. Juveniles age 17 or younger are not named.

Criminal damage, criminal trespassing

Aug. 17

A complainant in the 2100 block of S. Highland stated that a subject described as a white male entered the back seat of her vehicle while she was waiting for her boyfriend. The complainant asked the unknown male to leave and he did. An officer checked the area for the male with no results.

Aug. 15

A complainant in the parking lot of the Yorktown Shopping Center reported that an unknown person keyed the door on her car.

Domestic battery, disorderly conduct, domestic incident, dispute, disturbance

Aug. 17

An employee at Glenbard East High School advised at 10:36 a.m. of a male exposing himself on the football field. An officer identified the male. The employee wanted the male trespassed.

Aug. 16

A juvenile at Glenbard East High School brought a box cutter to school in his backpack. The juvenile was later transported to the Kane County Juvenile Detention Center.

DUI, transportation of open alcohol

Aug. 18

Rolando Bernal-Gaytan, 45, of Lombard, was charged with aggravated DUI and driving while license suspended near S. Route 53 and the Illinois Prairie Path at 10:21 p.m.

Jeffery Price, 55, of Belvidere, was issued a citation for DUI in the 2100 block of S. Highland at 6:49 p.m.

Aug. 17

Michael Snyder, 75, of Lombard, was charged with DUI and unlawful possession of cannabis by a driver near S. Westmore-Meyers and E. Highridge at 12:54 a.m.

Aug. 15

Matthew Westerhoff, 40, of Downers Grove, was charged with DUI near Highland and Roosevelt at 1:05 a.m.

Fleeing, eluding

According to information provided by the Lombard Police Department, police reported one incident of fleeing and eluding during which the driver of a motorcycle fled the scene after being stopped for a traffic stop by police.

Harassment, threats

Aug. 16

A victim in the 800 block of W. Foxworth advised at 11:45 p.m. on Aug. 15 that after parking her vehicle, she was approached by a Hispanic male who demanded her keys and threatened her. He grabbed her keys, and after the victim began yelling for help, the man fled on foot.

A complainant in the 200 block of W. Crystal advised at 12:19 a.m. that his ex-girlfriend and her current boyfriend have been sending him threatening messages.

Aug. 15

Police said an unknown suspect threatened a juvenile over Snapchat with disseminating a photo if the juvenile did not provide gift cards.

Aug. 14

A complainant in the 2700 block of S. Highland reported she is receiving threats.

Aug. 13

Complainants in the 100 block of E. Goebel reported receiving threats from two subjects. The complainants were advised to get a civil no contact order.

Identity theft, fraud, forgery

According to information provided by the Lombard Police Department, police reported five incidents of identity theft or fraud in which a victim’s identity was fraudulently used either to make charges on a credit card, open a business, bank or credit account, fraudulently deposit checks, alter a check, receive unemployment benefits—or a victim was convinced by a subject to deposit money into an account, send a check, or to buy gift cards.

Road rage

Aug. 13

A complainant near W. St. Charles and S. Route 53 said the driver of a black Mazda was cutting her off while they were driving through Glen Ellyn and Lombard. The Mazda was gone upon an officer’s arrival.

Suspicious incident

Aug. 18

A complainant at Extended Stay America, 260 E. 22nd, advised at 12:22 a.m. that a male subject who appeared to be holding a gun knocked on her door. All areas were checked with no results. Police attempted to obtain video surveillance.

A complainant in the 800 block of E. Roosevelt reported that a subject was doing inappropriate things in a restaurant parking lot. The subject was stopped by Villa Park police and denied doing anything.

Aug. 14

A complainant near N. Charlotte and E. Prairie advised at 2:33 a.m. of someone screaming on the Great Western Trail and believed it may be his son. The area was checked with no results.

A complainant in the 100 block of S. Collen said his estranged son came into the house and stole various items.

Aug. 13

An employee at Thornton’s gas station, 515 W. North, advised at 3:04 a.m. that an intoxicated male came into the business multiple times and was giving employees a hard time. The area was checked for the subject with no results.

There was a report of an older man approaching young children in the 1600 block of S. Finley at 6:32 p.m. The man was gone upon an officer’s arrival.

Theft, burglary, attempted theft or burglary, forgery, deceptive practice, obstruction, robbery

Aug. 17

A complainant in the 1100 block of S. Main advised that his vehicle, a 2004 Toyota Highlander, was stolen while it was parked and running in front of a gas station.

Aug. 15

A complainant at Extended Stay America, 260 E. 22nd, advised at 11:28 p.m. that his electric bicycle had been taken.

Aug. 14

Asim Shazzad, 41 of Naperville, was charged with burglary in the 300 block of E. Roosevelt at 1:38 p.m.

A complainant in the 300 block of Summit Circle reported a maroon 2020 Kia Soul had been parked in their lot since Aug. 10. The vehicle came back stolen out of Chicago. The Chicago Police Department advised to have the vehicle towed.

Aug. 13

A complainant at Comfort Suites, 530 W. North, advised at 12:53 p.m. of leaving his phone behind Kings Hall Banquets, 1000 Rohlwing, and when he returned, it was no longer there.

Retail theft

The Lombard Police Department reported the following incidents of retail theft or attempted retail theft that took place in the village between Aug. 13 and Aug. 18: Target, 60 Yorktown, at 11:25 a.m. Aug. 13; Goodwill, 351 E. Roosevelt, at 12:14 p.m. Aug. 13; Target, 60 Yorktown, at 6:55 p.m. Aug. 14; Dick’s Sporting Goods, 810 E. Butterfield, at 11:30 a.m. Aug. 17; and Target, 60 Yorktown, at 2:33 p.m. Aug. 15.

Aug. 17

Enesa Hrncic, 51, of Glendale Heights, was issued a citation for retail theft at JCPenney, 175 Yorktown, at 6:32 p.m.

Aug. 16

Aide Florian, 31, of West Chicago, was issued a citation for retail theft at Von Maur, 145 Yorktown, at 5:29 p.m.

Aug. 15

Hope Johnson, 51, of Chicago, was charged with retail theft at JCPenney, 175 Yorktown, at 11:56 a.m. Police said Johnson also had two failure to appear warrants and was transported to the DuPage County Jail.

Warrant arrest

Aug. 17

Police said Charles Behning, 56, of Villa Park, was transported to the Lombard Police Department and processed on an in-jurisdiction warrant in the 100 block of S. Park at 4:58 a.m.

Police said Emmanuel Georgitsis, 29, of Westchester, was transported to the Lombard Police Department on an in-jurisdiction warrant at 11:36 p.m.

Police said Larry Riddle, 49, of Chicago, was transported to the Lombard Police Department at 11:35 p.m., processed, and released on personal recognizance on a notice to appear, but transported to the DuPage County Jail due to an active warrant.
