Lombard police report—August 22

INFORMATION TAKEN FROM LOMBARD POLICE FILES

The Lombard Police Department recently reported the following arrests and citations. Persons charged with domestic battery are not named in order to protect the privacy of victims. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a conviction, and that subjects are considered innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. Juveniles age 17 or younger are not named.

Assault, battery

Aug. 8

A complainant in the 200 block of E. Roosevelt advised they were battered by a subject.

Criminal damage, criminal trespassing

Aug. 12

A complainant at Crescent Arms Apartments advised that a section of the privacy fence was damaged.

Aug. 11

A complainant in the 1100 block of S. Fairfield advised an unknown person(s) attempted to enter his 2024 Giddy Up USA enclosed trailer. An officer observed the trailer’s cylinder lock to be damaged.

Aug. 6

A complainant and victim in the 800 block of S. Addison advised at 8:39 p.m. that a subject had damaged property.

Domestic battery, disorderly conduct, domestic incident, dispute, disturbance

Aug. 11

A 31-year-old Dolton woman was charged with domestic battery in the 500 block of W. North at 2:05 a.m.
A large group of teenagers were reported to be fighting in the 300 block of N. Craig at 9:41 p.m. The teenagers scattered upon an officer’s arrival.

Aug. 10

A 33-year-old Chicago man was charged with domestic battery at Madison Meadow at 6:14 p.m.

DUI, transportation of open alcohol

Aug. 11

Eduardo Salazar, 27, of Villa Park, was issued citations for transportation of open alcohol and speeding near Roosevelt and Addison at 4:59 p.m.

Aug. 10

Julian Rodriguez Gonzalez, 20, of Elgin, was charged with DUI near S. Finley and W. Ann at 7:22 a.m.

Aug. 9

Joel Ocampo, 19, of Glendale Heights, was issued citations for possession of alcohol by a minor, speeding and possession of tobacco by a minor near N. Westmore and St. Charles at 1:02 a.m.

Fleeing, eluding

According to information provided by the Lombard Police Department, police reported one incident of fleeing and eluding during which the driver of a vehicle fled the scene after being stopped for a traffic stop by police.

Harassment, threats

Aug. 11

A complainant in the 2100 block of S. Finley advised that a subject has been contacting him all weekend after being served with a no-contact order and a removal from the residence.

A complainant at a business in the 1-100 block of W. St. Charles reported at 11:33 p.m. that the driver of a U-Haul truck almost struck outdoor patrons by driving unsafely. The driver then parked and reportedly yelled at the patrons that he would return in two hours, and that they better have guns. Patrons were not able to obtain the subject’s license plate information.

Aug. 9

A complainant in the 100 block of W. Sunset said her ex-boyfriend’s girlfriend is harassing her online. The complainant did not want an officer to contact anyone, but wanted the incident documented.

Aug. 6

A complainant in the 2200 block of S. Grace advised that a subject was harassing him. The subject will stop contact with the complainant.

Identity theft, fraud, forgery

According to information provided by the Lombard Police Department, police reported seven incidents of identity theft or fraud in which a victim’s identity was fraudulently used either to make charges on a credit card, open a business, bank or credit account, fraudulently deposit checks, alter a check, receive unemployment benefits—or a victim was convinced by a subject to deposit money into an account, send a check, or to buy gift cards.

Suspicious incident

Aug. 12

A complainant in the 1000 block of S. Norbury advised that a subject had been sitting in her back yard for several hours. She did not want him on her property. The subject was gone upon an officer’s arrival.

Aug. 11

A complainant near Fairview and Cherry advised at 10:11 p.m. that an unknown subject grabbed him and his scooter. The subject would not let the complainant leave. The subject, who asked the complainant if he had been shooting off fireworks, left the area prior to an officer’s arrival.

A complainant in the 300 block of W. Goebel advised of cars racing at 12:04 a.m. When officers arrived at the scene, multiple vehicles left the area.

Aug. 9

A Metra employee reported at 7:43 a.m. that two subjects were causing a disturbance on the platform. One of the subjects reportedly slapped the employee on her rear end. Police made contact with the two subjects, who both denied the slapping allegation. The incident was then turned over to Metra police.

A complainant in the 1100 block of S. Main advised at 9:10 p.m. of approaching a subject described as a black male, wearing a gray skull cap, baggy pants and a burgundy coat, with a Brookfield Zoo mug and a black book bag, who was peering into a window where children play. The subject, who advised he was waiting for a ride, threatened the complainant, who would like him trespassed if found.

Aug. 7

A complainant at International Village Apartments reported a dumpster fire at 12:35 a.m. The Lombard Fire Department responded and extinguished the fire.

Theft, burglary, attempted theft or burglary, forgery, deceptive practice, obstruction, robbery

Aug. 10

Alex Lujano Jr., 25, of Aurora, was charged with burglary at Jewel-Osco, 1177 S. Main, at 11:12 p.m.

Aug. 8

A subject broke a window at Pipes & Tobacco, 54 W. Roosevelt, and removed merchandise, then fled the scene.

Aug. 7
A complainant in the 100 block of S. Collen reported at 6:34 a.m. that their house had been burglarized.

A complainant in the 2200 block of S. Stewart reported the theft of vehicle parts.

Retail theft

The Lombard Police Department reported the following incidents of retail theft or attempted retail theft that took place in the village between Aug. 6 and Aug. 12: Dick’s Sporting Goods, 810 E. Butterfield, at 4:45 p.m. Aug. 10; Champs Sports, 203 Yorktown, at 2:44 p.m. Aug. 11; Lover’s Lane, 711 E. Roosevelt, at 4:33 p.m. Aug. 12; and Target, 60 Yorktown, at 8:37 p.m. Aug. 12.

Aug. 9

Shania Jacobs, 28, and Reneashia McDowell, 31, both of Chicago, were issued citations for retail theft at JCPenney, 175 Yorktown, at 1:18 p.m.

Markiya Rule, 19, of Chicago, was issued a citation for retail theft at Target, 60 Yorktown, at 6:41 p.m.

Violation of order of protection

Aug. 12

Police said Cynthia Abbott, 54, of Lombard, turned herself in at the Lombard Police Department on a violation of an order of protection at 7:09 a.m.

Warrant arrest

Aug. 9

Police said Kenneth Nelson, 34, of Chicago, was transported to the Lombard Police Department and processed on an original warrant out of Lombard at 11:05 p.m.

Police said Marilyn Zamudio, 34, of Carol Stream, had an active arrest warrant out of the Winfield Police Department for battery. An officer transferred Zamudio to Wheaton, where the Winfield Police Department took custody of her.

Aug. 8

Police said Donovan Brown, 25, of Lombard, was transported to the Lombard Police Department on a warrant at 11:06 p.m.

Police said Leon L. Edwards, 39, of Bellwood, was arrested on a Downers Grove Police Department warrant at 12:10 p.m.

Aug. 6

Police said Laura Ebner, 44, of Lombard, was processed on a warrant in the 100 block of Eastview at 8:29 p.m.
