Lombard police report—August 1

INFORMATION TAKEN FROM LOMBARD POLICE FILES

The Lombard Police Department recently reported the following arrests and citations. Persons charged with domestic battery are not named in order to protect the privacy of victims. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a conviction, and that subjects are considered innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. Juveniles age 17 or younger are not named.

Assault, battery

July 17
An employee at the Westin, 70 Yorktown, advised at 1:20 a.m. that a victim had been assaulted.

July 15
Two juveniles were involved in a altercation in the 400 block of E. Roosevelt at 7:26 p.m. No charges were filed.

Harassment, threats

July 12
A complainant in the 100 block of Lore advised that a subject sent her an email that she felt was threatening.

Criminal damage, criminal trespassing

July 18
A complainant in the 2200 block of S. Stewart advised that an unknown suspect smashed her rear car window. She suspects her soon to be ex-husband.

A complainant in the 2200 block of S. Grace advised the passenger window on his vehicle was broken. There was no suspect information.

July 16
A complainant near N. Grace and E. St. Charles reported a large rock broke a hole in the driver-side window of her black 2010 Chevrolet Silverado. The rock struck the driver in the face. She was transported to a hospital.

Two juveniles entered Glenbard East High School through an unlocked window at 7:11 a.m. A detective will follow up if complaints will be signed.

July 15
A complainant in the 2000 block of S. Finley reported a gray 2019 Freightliner Cascadia in the lot with a broken driver-side window. Police contacted the owner, who advised the damage was new, and that he’d pursue charges if a suspect is caught.

A victim in the 100 block of S. Park reported damage to his door and doorknob.

July 14
A victim in the 2700 block of S. Highland reported damage to a steering wheel lock and the steering wheel itself on her 2016 Maserati Ghibli. The victim advised she would press charges if the person who damaged her vehicle is found.

An unknown subject at Von Maur, 145 Yorktown, was observed; the subject had been removed from the Yorktown Mall twice before. Police checked the area but did not locate the subject.

July 13
A complainant in the 100 block of W. Ash advised that a subject slashed a tire on her vehicle.

Domestic battery, disorderly conduct, domestic incident, dispute, disturbance

July 17
A complainant in the 400 block of W. Crescent advised of a possible domestic at 1:35 a.m. An officer arrived and observed a subject climbing off the balcony. The subject, who advised that he was trying to see his kids, agreed to leave the area.

A caller at the Westin, 70 Yorktown, advised at 3:47 a.m. of a male who had been in a bathroom for the last three hours and was refusing to leave. Officers met with the subject, who agreed to leave and was given a trespass warning.

DUI

July 16
Sean Patrick Angara, 27, of Palatine, was charged with DUI, speeding and no insurance near N. Route 53 and St. Charles at 8:52 p.m.

Calvin Lucas, 50, of Bellwood, was issued a citation for possession of open alcohol by a passenger, while Emry Lucas, 45, of Lombard, was charged with obstructing identification, driving while license revoked, disobeying a traffic control signal and no insurance near N. Elizabeth and W. St. Charles at 8:42 p.m.

July 14
Gabriel Galicia, 18, of Bensenville, was charged with DUI near Butterfield and Highland at 12:51 a.m.

July 13
Debra Bailey, 67, of Broadview, was charged with DUI and endangering the life of a child near Roosevelt and Finley at 1:17 a.m.

Simone Fentry, 31, of Chicago, a passenger in a vehicle, was issued citations for possession of open alcohol by a passenger and possession of cannabis near St. Regis and E 22nd at 9:35 p.m.

Identity theft, fraud, forgery

According to information provided by the Lombard Police Department, police reported six incidents of identity theft or fraud in which a victim’s identity was fraudulently used either to make charges on a credit card, open a business, bank or credit account, fraudulently deposit checks, alter a check, receive unemployment benefits—or a victim was convinced by a subject to deposit money into an account, send a check, or to buy gift cards.

Suspicious incident

July 18
Peter Bereshiem, 59, of Lombard, was charged with public indecency in the 400 block of E. St. Charles. Police said Bereshiem was given a trespass warning to all Lombard Park District parks.

July 16
Two vehicles were observed traveling close together near Wilson and Finley at 2:57 a.m.—one with its lights off and driving in an evasive manner. Both fled the area at a high rate of speed.

July 14
A caller at Jewel-Osco, 1177 S. Main, advised of a homeless man howling at the moon and trying to jump by people going in and out of the door. Police made contact with the man, who left the area without incident.

July 13
A juvenile near N. Park and W. St. Charles reported at 9:06 p.m. that another juvenile dumped milk on her and then splashed her with water. The juvenile was released to a parent.

July 12
A complainant in the 1300 block of S. Finley reported that her brother may be abusing their mother.

Theft, burglary, attempted theft or burglary, forgery, deceptive practice, obstruction, robbery

July 18
A complainant at Shell, 930 E. Roosevelt, had his wallet stolen.

A complainant at Mariano’s, 345 W. Roosevelt, advised that an unknown subject took her wallet out of her purse.

July 13
A complainant in the 100 block of E. Oakton advised he was not home and received an alert for the back door. Officers located a partially opened window and entered. The residence appeared to be disheveled with items thrown around. Numerous items were reported to be stolen.

July 12
A complainant at a hotel in the 700 block of E. Butterfield believes someone from housekeeping stole her Apple AirPods. An officer spoke to an employee who cleaned the room and advised she put the AirPods on the nightstand. She denied taking the AirPods.

A complainant in the 200 block of E. 22nd believes that housekeeping took money, a gold chain and a gold ring, while cleaning his room. The complainant also believed that housekeeping found his gun under his bed and called 911 earlier. An employee advised no services were provided to the complainant’s room, and that the gun was found in the parking lot on July 3.

A complainant in the 800 block of W. Foxworth advised at 9:46 p.m. of items going missing in the last few days.

Retail theft

The Lombard Police Department reported the following incidents of retail theft or attempted retail theft that took place in the village between July 12 and July 18: Target, 60 Yorktown, at 6:19 p.m. July 12; Von Maur, 145 Yorktown, at 8:27 p.m. July 12; 221 Yorktown at 3:05 p.m. July 17; Dick’s Sporting Goods, 810 E. Butterfield, at 1:35 p.m. July 18; and Mariano’s, 345 W. Roosevelt, at 7:50 p.m. July 18.

July 12
Darius Foster, 36, of Chicago, was issued a citation for retail theft at Jewel-Osco, 1177 S. Main, at 10:33 p.m.

Amy Lucero Garcia, 20, and Maria Tinajero Garcia, 35, both of Chicago, were both cited for retail theft at Von Maur, 145 Yorktown, at 4:07 p.m.

Jessica Marsh, 44, of Hoffman Estates, was charged with retail theft at JCPenney, 175 Yorktown, at 6:37 p.m.

Warrant arrest

July 16
Police said Ryan Ramirez, 26, of Villa Park, was served a failure to appear warrant out of Oak Brook in the 700 block of E. North Broadway at 5:07 a.m.

July 15
Police said Shanetta T. Kersey, 37, of Chicago was transported to the DuPage County Jail on a DuPage County failure to appear warrant at 3:37 a.m.

Police said Robert Kowsky, 42, of Montgomery, was arrested for an outstanding warrant in the Yorktown Mall area at 9:30 a.m.

July 13
Police said Joseph Koulouvaris, 20, of Skokie, turned himself in on a Lombard Police Department original warrant at 12:35 p.m.

July 12
Police said the Elk Grove Police Department requested an officer make contact with a subject in reference to an accident. An officer learned that Leesa Cavazos, 53, of Lombard, was driving a vehicle involved in the accident. The officer also served Cavazos with a failure to appear warrant.

Police said Taron Delaney, 32, of Elburn, had a warrant out of DeKalb County in the 600 block of W. North at 5:16 p.m.
