The Elmhurst Police Department reported the arrest of five suspects for felony retail theft offenses within a three hour period during three unrelated incidents on the evening of Friday, March 15, 2024.
On March 15, 2024, at approximately 7:30 p.m. an Elmhurst Police officer spotted a suspect vehicle that returned to Kohl’s, 303 S. IL Rt 83, after being involved in a prior theft from the store ten days earlier. Additional officers responded and detained two men that had just committed a theft of approximately $1,300 worth of fragrance boxes by concealing them under their clothes and exiting.
- Ronald Brito-Padilla, a 24 year old male of the 300 blk of S. Plymouth Ct, Chicago, IL was charged with Burglary (class 2 felony) and Retail Theft (class 3 felony).
- Erick Quevedo-Nino, a 34 year old male of the 300 blk of S. Plymouth Ct, Chicago, IL was charged with Burglary (class 2 felony) and Retail Theft (class 3 felony).
On March 15, 2024, at approximately 8:00 p.m. an Elmhurst Police officer performed a traffic stop of a vehicle at IL Rt 83 & I-290. The driver was identified as the suspect who committed a theft from Shoe Carnival, 195 S. IL Rt 83, on December 27, 2023. The driver was arrested at the scene.
- Robert E. Martin, a 56 year old male of the 2700 blk of W. Harrison St, Chicago, IL was charged with Retail Theft (class 4 felony-prior conviction) for the December theft. Martin was also charged with Driving While License Suspended, Operating Uninsured Vehicle, and Improper Lighting for his vehicle operation on March 15, 2024.
On March 15, 2024, at approximately 9:00 p.m. Elmhurst Police responded to Jewel-Osco, 944 S. York Street for a theft in progress call. Officers located and detained two men that had just committed a theft of approximately $1,200 worth of liquor from the store.
- Michael B. Howard, a 43 year old male of the 4800 blk of W. Washington Blvd, Chicago, IL was charged with Burglary (class 2 felony) and Retail Theft (class 3 felony).
- Myron Edwards, a 31 year old male of the 1000 blk of N. Parkside Ave, Chicago, IL was charged with Burglary (class 2 felony), Retail Theft (class 3 felony), Obstructing Identification (class A misdemeanor), and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (class A misdemeanor).
Each of the five men were transported to the DuPage County Jail for First Appearance Court at the DuPage County Judicial Center. Members of the public are reminded defendants are presumed innocent and are entitled to a fair trial in which it is the government’s burden to prove his or her guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
