Police Reports

The Elmhurst Police Department recently reported the following arrests and citations. Persons charged with domestic battery are not named in order to protect the privacy of victims. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a conviction, and that subjects are considered innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. Juveniles age 17-or-younger are not named.

Battery

Feb. 5

Lacy Brown, 68, of Chicago, was charged with two counts of battery in the 100 block of N. York. Police said officers responded to the above location for the report of a fight in progress. Upon police arrival, police said the victim related Brown began punching him as he passed Brown while leaving a theater.

Feb. 3

Police said that subsequent to a report of a suspicious person in the 900 block of S. Riverside at 9:55 a.m., officers made contact with a victim who related she was battered by an unknown suspect. The victim refused to provide any further information and was released from the scene.

Police said that subsequent to a report of a disturbance in the 100 block of E. Schiller at 7:24 p.m., a complainant reported the suspect pushed him, causing him to fall. The suspect denied pushing the complainant. No complaints were signed due to conflicting statements from both parties.

Feb. 1

A victim near Route 83 and St. Charles told police at 9:41 p.m. that subsequent to an argument with her Lyft driver, while exiting the vehicle, the driver ran over her foot. An investigation is pending.

Criminal damage

Feb. 5-6

A victim at a hotel in the 400 block of W. Lake told police she believes a suspect punctured all four of her vehicle’s tires and broke the driver side mirror sometime overnight. An investigation is pending.

Feb. 2-5

A reporting officer responded to 300 block of W. Commonwealth for the report of damage to property. An unknown suspect(s) drove on the baseball field and made impressions in the sand. An investigation is pending.

Domestic battery, domestic incident, disorderly conduct, disturbance, dispute

Feb. 7

A 38-year-old Elmhurst man was charged with two counts of domestic battery in the 200 block of E. Columbia at 7:36 p.m. Police said a victim reported that while trying to record with her phone, the suspect hit the phone out of her hand.

A 37-year-old woman from Worth, Ill., was charged with domestic battery at a hotel in the 900 block of S. Riverside. Police said a victim reported the suspect spit in his face following a verbal argument.

Feb. 3

A 32-year-old Elmhurst man was charged with endangering a life of a child and two counts of domestic battery in the 600 block of S. Euclid at 1:17 a.m.

Feb. 2

A 35-year-old Elmhurst man was charged with two counts of domestic battery in the 900 block of Kirk at 6 a.m. Police said a victim reported the suspect struck her.

Feb. 1

Police said that subsequent to a call for a disturbance at a hotel in the 900 block of Riverside at 12:45 a.m., a victim was located inside a hotel room with signs of physical injury. The suspect, a 31-year-old Westmont man, had fled the scene and was later located in Villa Park. Upon investigation, the victim was found to be in violation of a valid order of protection. The suspect was charged with domestic battery, unlawful restraint and robbery. The victim was charged with violation of an order of protection.

DUI, DUI-drugs, transportation of open alcohol, possession of open alcohol, consumption of alcohol by a minor

Feb. 5

Ryan Elliott, 40, of Arlington Heights, was charged with DUI, improper lane usage, speeding and no insurance near Lake and Route 83 at 11:48 p.m.

Marco Gomez Xinic, 22, of Addison, was charged with DUI and improper lane usage subsequent to a traffic stop near North and I-290 at 3:10 a.m.

Feb. 4

Marco Avila Cruz, 49, of Northlake, was charged with DUI, illegal transportation of open alcohol, improper lighting and no insurance subsequent to a traffic stop near Roosevelt and Route 83 at 1:13 a.m.

Tynieshia Tate, 30, of Rockford, was charged with DUI, improper lane usage and failure to signal subsequent to a traffic stop near North and Berteau at 2:11 a.m.

Feb. 2

Juan Munoz, 36, of Villa Park, was charged with DUI, disobeying a traffic control device and illegal stopping where prohibited near Route 83 and North at 11:45 p.m.

Feb. 1

Thomas Jones, 49, of Des Plaines, was charged with DUI, failure to give information after striking a vehicle and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident near Adell and Park at 9:08 p.m.

Wilson Giron Miguel, 21, of Elmhurst, was issued citations for improper display of registration, tinted windows, loud muffler and open alcohol, while Edilson Pascual-Garcia, 24, of Villa Park, a passenger in the vehicle, was issued a citation for open alcohol subsequent to a traffic stop near Route 83 and Lake at 7:25 p.m.

Harassment, threats

Dec. 7

A victim in the 300 block of E. Parkview told police he met an unknown suspect on a dating app and sent the suspect explicit photos of himself. Once the victim sent the photos, the suspect requested money through Cash App or his photos would be distributed. An investigation is pending.

Identity theft, fraud, forgery

According to information provided by the Elmhurst Police Department, police reported three incidents of identity theft or fraud.

Possession of cannabis in a vehicle

According to information provided last week by the Elmhurst Police Department, police reported one incident of possession of cannabis by either the driver of a vehicle or a passenger: London Edwards, 20, of Broadview, near Myrtle and York at 10 p.m. Feb. 2.

Theft, retail theft, burglary, attempted theft or burglary, forgery, deceptive practice, obstruction, robbery

Feb. 3

Luis Arias-Torres, 21, and John Velandia-Flores, 33, both of College Point, N.Y., were charged with retail theft and burglary at a store in the 300 block of S. Route 83 at 6:26 p.m. Velandia-Flores also was charged with no valid driver’s license.

A complainant at a store in the 300 block of S. Route 83 reported an unknown suspect exited the store with unpaid merchandise. This case is pending investigation.

Feb. 2

A complainant at Edward-Elmhurst Hospital reported an unknown suspect removed several items from a coffee shop in the hospital and left without paying. Pending investigation.

A victim in the 900 block of S. Stratford told police he sent money to a subject who posted a couch for sale on Facebook Marketplace. The victim never received the couch.

Jan. 31-Feb. 1

A complainant at a business in the 500 block of N. Michigan stated an unknown suspect(s) cut the lock to a gated fence and removed a flatbed trailer from the parking lot. The trailer was hooked up to the listed suspect’s vehicle.

Violation of an order of protection

Feb. 2

Ramone Pierce, 25, of Bellwood, was charged with violation of an order of protection at 4:36 p.m. Police said a victim reported Pierce was in violation of an order of protection after Pierce contacted her via social media.

Warrant arrest

Feb. 7

Police said that subsequent to a traffic stop near York and Crescent at 5:22 p.m., Russell Gracik, 64, of Elmhurst, was found to have an active warrant out of the DuPage County Sheriff’s Office. According to police, the suspect failed to comply with officers and fled from the scene. He was later taken into custody and was transported to the police station. Gracik was charged with obstructing a police officer, suspended registration, improper lighting on the vehicle and no insurance.

Feb. 3

Police said that subsequent to a traffic stop near Clinton and North at 12:40 p.m., Michael Turnipseed, 25, of Bellwood, a passenger in a vehicle, was found to have a warrant out of the DuPage County Sheriff’s Office.

Feb. 2

Police said that subsequent to a report of an unwanted subject in the 800 block of S. Riverside, Miranda Grocesley, 32, of Willowbrook, was found to have a warrant out of DeKalb County.
