Police reports

The Elmhurst Police Department recently reported the following arrests and citations. Persons charged with domestic battery are not named in order to protect the privacy of victims. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a conviction, and that subjects are considered innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. Juveniles age 17-or-younger are not named.

Criminal trespassing, criminal damage

Dec. 30-Jan. 3

A complainant at a business in the 600 block of N. County Line told police that an unknown suspect used black spray paint to spray foul language on rooftop equipment.

Dec. 30

A complainant in the 800 block of N. Church told police she believes a known suspect keyed her vehicle. An investigation is pending.

Domestic battery, domestic incident, disorderly conduct, disturbance, dispute

Jan. 3

A 22-year-old Cicero woman was charged with domestic battery at a hotel in the 900 block of S. Riverside at 2:24 a.m.

Jan. 2

A 21-year-old Elmhurst man was charged with domestic battery in the 400 block of N. Berteau at 2:31 p.m. Police said the suspect threw a laptop at a victim and shook her.

Jan. 1

William Aubin, 53, of Elmhurst, was issued a citation for disorderly conduct in the 500 block of N. Adele at 5:30 a.m. Police said a victim reported an unknown suspect was attempting to enter the residence. Officers located Aubin, who, according to police, stated he was trying to get the victim to sign some papers.

Ashanti M. Campbell, 24, of Chicago, and Brooklyn N. McDowell, 19, of Hammond, Ind., were issued citations for engaging in a fight in the 400 block of N. West at 4:05 a.m.

Dec. 31

Lamarcus J. Shumate, 34, of Chicago, was issued a citation for engaging in a fight at a hotel in the 900 block of S. Riverside at 11:31 p.m.

A 35-year-old Elmhurst man was charged with two counts of domestic battery in the 100 block of E. Fremont at 12:44 a.m. A victim told police that subsequent to a verbal argument, the suspect slapped her.

Dec. 29

Gabriel S. Gibson, 19, of Chicago, was issued citations for disorderly conduct and soliciting without a permit in the 200 block of N. York at 4:12 p.m.

A 33-year-old Franklin Park man was charged with three counts of domestic battery in the 900 block of S. Riverside at 10:54 p.m. Police said a victim related the suspect had struck her several times.

Dec. 28

Jose Bautista, 36, of Brookfield, was issued a citation for disorderly conduct and was served with a no-trespass notice in the 300 block of W. Butterfield at 6:56 p.m. Police said a complainant reported the suspect was yelling at customers and refused to leave the property. Officers located Bautista, who urinated in front of passing vehicles, according to police.

DUI, DUI-drugs, transportation of open alcohol, possession of open alcohol, consumption of alcohol by a minor

Jan. 2

Adrian Mendez, 18, of Melrose Park, was charged with DUI, possession of open alcohol in a vehicle, consumption of alcohol by a minor, unlawful possession of cannabis by a driver, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, improper lane usage, reckless driving and no insurance near Grand and County Line at 8:03 p.m.

Marino Carrillo-Lopez, 35, of Glendale Heights, was charged with aggravated DUI, driving while license revoked and transportation of open alcohol in the 200 block of N. West at 4:21 a.m.

Rene Corral Villanueva, 34, of Cicero, was charged with DUI near Berteau and North at 2:56 a.m.

Dec. 31

Raul Guerrero, 37, of Aurora, was charged with DUI, failure to signal and disobeying a traffic control signal subsequent to a traffic stop near I-290 and York at 11:01 p.m.

Armena M. Ketchum, 38, of Chicago, was charged with DUI and not driving on the right side of the roadway subsequent to a traffic stop near High and Adams at 11:13 p.m.

Nelson Rivas, 40, of Cicero, was charged with DUI and improper lane usage subsequent to a call for a vehicle in a ditch near Route 83 and Lake at 2:08 a.m.

Dec. 30

Bruce Cotton, 64, of Milwaukee, was charged with DUI and driving without headlights near Lake and West at 10:38 p.m.

Jhonas Jaimes Prada, 22, of Glendale Heights, was charged with DUI, no valid driver’s license, improper lane usage and improper lighting subsequent to a traffic stop near North and Larch at 12:36 a.m.

Alejandra Salas, 40, of Elmwood Park, was charged with DUI and improper passing/driving off the roadway in the 400 block of East Court at 3:46 a.m. Police said that subsequent to a suspicious person call, officers learned that Salas drove her car off of the road and into a retention pond.

Fleeing, eluding

According to information provided last week by the Elmhurst Police Department, police reported one incident of fleeing and eluding during which the driver of a vehicle fled the scene after being stopped for a traffic stop by police.

Identity theft, fraud, forgery

According to information provided by the Elmhurst Police Department, police reported one incident of identity theft or fraud.

Possession of cannabis in a vehicle

According to information provided last week by the Elmhurst Police Department, police reported three incidents of possession of cannabis by either the driver of a vehicle or a passenger: Raquel Amezquita, 28, of Libertyville, near Route 83 and Lake at 7:16 p.m. Dec. 27; Ashley Sopoci, 30, of Lombard, near Third and York at 7:08 p.m. Dec. 29; and Dominique T. Willis, 32, of Oak Park, in the 500 block of W. North at 7:19 a.m. Dec. 30;

Possession of a controlled substance

Jan. 1

Police said that subsequent to a traffic stop for speeding near North and Berteau at 7:41 p.m., the suspect was found to be in possession of a controlled substance. The suspect was placed under arrest, transported to the police station and released without charges, pending lab results.

Suspicious circumstances

Jan. 1

A victim in the 500 block of N. Walnut reported the suspect sent her text messages. The victim has had problems with the suspect and does not want to have any contact with him. The suspect was advised to have no further contact with the victim.

Jan. 3

A victim in the 200 block of N. Clinton told police that an unknown suspect(s) entered their residence and removed several items. An investigation is pending.

Dec. 27-Dec. 28

A complainant in the 200 block of E. Lake told police that an unknown person(s) stole two bottles of her prescription medication while she was visiting her mother at an extended care center.

Nov. 10-Dec. 18

A victim in the 700 block of N. Michigan told police she was contacted through social media by two unknown suspects who claimed to be investors. The victim wire transferred funds believing she was investing in cryptocurrency.

Unlawful use of a weapon

Dec. 28

Williams Owens, 37, of Palatine, was charged with unlawful use of a weapon, DUI, attempted false impersonation of a police officer, conceal and carry weapon while intoxicated, possession of cannabis by driver and no insurance near North and Route 83 at 4:04 p.m. Police said that subsequent to a road rage incident, Owens was found to be driving under the influence of alcohol and in possession of a loaded handgun.

Warrant arrest

Jan. 2

Police said Eder Pillado, 33, of Chicago, turned himself in on a warrant out of the Cook County Sheriff’s Office in the 100 block of E. First at 7:44 p.m.
