York Furrier, a staple in Elmhurst’s downtown business district since 1931, has announced plans to retire and close its doors.
Owners John and Kathy Rezny were unable to be reached before press time, but the news has spread around town, driving residents to the York Furrier web site to confirm the fact that the store will indeed close permanently on Jan. 31.
Spanning 92 years and three generations of family ownership, the award-winning furrier and industry leader has offered its customers stylish looks, professional on-site services, storage, cleaning, repairs, restyling, and even repurposing older fur garments, regardless of store labels. Always dedicated to the local and surrounding communities, York Furrier has partnered with numerous charities over the years such as the Alzheimer’s Association, Elmhurst Panhellenic, Catholic Charities, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Elmhurst Symphony Orchestra, Northern Illinois Food Bank, the National Alliance on Mental Illness, and several others.
York Furrier is currently having a retirement sale before they close the doors.
