Robert “Bob” James Grob, 71 years old, passed away December 8, 2023, surrounded by his family. He was born February 29, 1952 in Oak Park, to the late Robert and Marion Grob. He was proud of the distinction of being a leap year baby.
Bob graduated in 1970 from York High School in Elmhurst. He earned his bachelor’s degree in accounting in 1974 from the University of Notre Dame and a master’s degree in taxation from DePaul University.
Bob had a successful 44 year career in the accounting and taxation fields. His greatest joy was spending time with his family. He enjoyed being a soccer coach for his daughter, fishing with his wife, and cheering on his favorite sports teams. He especially enjoyed driving, including long road trips to visit his children and grandchildren.
Bob is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 49 years, Marjorie; loving daughters, Jill (Andrew) Remming, Liz (Sean) Davidson and Courtney (John) Lazarz; cherished granddaughters, Lauren and Morgan Remming, and Hazel and Quinn Davidson; cherished grandson, Thomas Robert Lazarz; and dear nephews, Eric and Alex Schmitz.
He is preceded in death by his loving sister, Pamela (A.J.) Schmitz.
A memorial visitation will be held from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. noon on Saturday, December 16, 2023 at Elmhurst Community Funeral Home – THE AHLGRIM CHAPEL, 567 South Spring Road, Elmhurst, with a Celebration of Life Service beginning at 11:30 a.m.
