The Elmhurst Police Department recently reported the following arrests and citations. Persons charged with domestic battery are not named in order to protect the privacy of victims. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a conviction, and that subjects are considered innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. Juveniles age 17-or-younger are not named.
Criminal trespassing, criminal damage
Dec. 17
A complainant in the 300 block of N. Kenilworth told police his ex-wife entered his house without his permission. She was served with a no trespass notice.
Dec. 13-Dec. 17
A complainant in the 200 block of N. Oak told police that an unknown suspect had cut the wires to the Christmas lights at her residence sometime between the above dates. An investigation is pending.
Domestic battery, domestic incident, disorderly conduct, disturbance, dispute
Dec. 17
Braulio Eloiza, 61, of Addison, was issued a citation for disorderly conduct in the 400 block of N. York at 4:18 p.m. Police said officers responded to the above location for a report of a suspicious person. The subject was located, and it was learned he had pointed a lighter that resembled a firearm a victim the previous day, according to police.

A 43-year-old Elmhurst woman was charged with resisting or obstructing a police officer and two counts of domestic battery in the 700 block of N. Michigan at 7:53 p.m. Upon arrival, police said a victim related that the suspect struck the victim in the left ear.

Jeremie R. Harris, 45, of Aurora, was issued citations for disorderly conduct and smoking cannabis where prohibited at a store in the 100 block of E. Butterfield at 12:51 p.m. Police said that when Harris was asked to leave the store, he became belligerent and yelled obscenities which alarmed and disturbed the complainant.
A 29-year-old Chicago woman was charged with domestic battery in the 300 block of W. Butterfield at 12:30 p.m. Police said the victim had visible injuries.

Cortez Wraggs, 49, of Chicago, was charged with DUI, illegal transportation of open alcohol, driving while license suspended and improper lane usage subsequent to a traffic stop near Route 83 and St. Charles at 1:59 a.m.

Alexa Johnson, 30, of Addison, was charged with DUI and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident near Commonwealth and Brush Hill Rds. at 8:34 p.m.
Denilson Quintanilla Benitez, 20, of Chicago, was issued citations for possession of alcohol by a minor, speeding, illegal window tinting and no insurance near York and Crestview at 12:44 a.m.

Andy Ayala, 19, of Hillside, was charged with DUI, consumption of alcohol by a minor, driving too fast for conditions and improper lane usage near Roosevelt and York at 5:13 p.m.
Oscar Narciso-Azamar, 38, of Chicago, was charged with DUI, no valid driver’s license, transportation of open alcohol and improper lane usage subsequent to a traffic stop near North and Route 83 at 2:17 a.m.
Rafael Hernandez, 22, of West Chicago, was charged with aggravated DUI-license suspended, DUI, unlawful possession of cannabis by a driver, possession of open alcohol by a driver, disobeying a stop sign, driving while license suspended and improper lane usage, while Andrea Garcia Mendoza, 20, of West Chicago, was issued citations for illegal transportation of alcohol by a passenger and allowing an unauthorized person to drive subsequent to a traffic stop near North and Oak at 5:24 a.m.

Kenneth Gay, 53, of Chicago, was charged with DUI, improper lane usage, transportation of open alcohol by a driver, disobeying a traffic control signal and no insurance subsequent to police observing the suspect driving and strike a curb three times near North and Myrtle at 6 a.m.

Jose Salazar, 47, of Lombard, was charged with aggravated DUI and speeding subsequent to a traffic stop near Roosevelt and Route 83 at 11:39 p.m.

Payton A. Saldana, 19, of La Grange, was charged with operating a vehicle with a blood alcohol concentration greater than .00, possession of cannabis outside of a proper container and making an improper turn subsequent to a traffic stop near Lake and York at 5:21 a.m.
Hate crime

James Joseph, 67, of Arlington Heights, was charged with disorderly conduct and two counts of a hate crime near York and Cayuga at 2:51 p.m. Police said a complainant reported that Joseph was yelling racial slurs and made threats to harm a bus driver. According to police, officers made contact with James on the Pace bus, who immediately yelled and threatened officers.
Identity theft, fraud, forgery
According to information provided by the Elmhurst Police Department, police reported five incidents of identity theft or fraud.
Possession of cannabis in a vehicle
According to information provided last week by the Elmhurst Police Department, police reported one incident of possession of cannabis by either the driver of a vehicle or a passenger: Vishan Winters, 26, of Chicago, near St. Charles and I-290 at 9:53 p.m. Dec. 20.

Elias Plakias, 56, of Hickory Hills, was charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, expired registration and no insurance subsequent to a traffic stop near St. Charles and Route 83 at 11:32 p.m.
Dec. 15
Ossiel Salazar, 38, of Addison, was charged with possession of a controlled substance and DUI in the 400 block of W. Lake at 3:10 a.m. Police said an inventory search of the suspect’s vehicle yielded a baggie containing a white powdery substance.

Dec. 19
A victim in the 300 block of S. Route 83 told police that a male subject took his wallet after he placed it on a table. Upon confrontation, the suspect initially returned the wallet. The suspect left the scene and was not located. This case is pending investigation.
A victim at a store in the 300 block of S. Route 83 told police that an unknown suspect(s) removed her purse from her shopping cart. An investigation is pending.
Dec. 17
Hector C. Moldonado Mendoza, 32, of Addison, was charged with retail theft at a store in the 300 block of S. Route 83 at 2:26 p.m.
Police said officers responded to a store in the 300 block of S. Route 83 for a delayed theft report. A complainant told police that two suspects—one described as an Hispanic male; the other described as an Hispanic female—left the store with numerous clothing items without paying. An investigation is pending.
Dec. 16
Police said officers responded to a bank in the 500 block of S. York at noon for the report of an armed robbery that had just occurred. A witness told police that a suspect described as an Hispanic male around 25 years old handed her a note demanding cash. The witness gave the suspect the cash in her teller drawer.
A victim in the 100 block of W. North told police that he met with the suspect to trade his XBox Series X for a Sony PlayStation 5. When the victim later tried to use the PlayStation, he was notified by Sony that this system was reported stolen. An investigation is pending.

A victim in the 400 block of W. Verret told police that an unknown suspect(s) removed the front license plate of his vehicle. The plate was entered into LEADS as stolen.
Oct. 17-Dec. 16
A complainant in the 100 block of S. Villa told police that an unknown suspect stole the front license plate off his vehicle, and replaced it with a license plate from another vehicle sometime between the above dates.
Sept. 7-Dec 16
A victim in the 400 block of S. Fairfield told police that an unknown suspect had taken jewelry from her home sometime between the above dates. An investigation is pending.
Violation of an order of protection

A reporting officer in the 600 block of S. York responded to the above location for a delayed violation of an order of protection. A victim told police she has been receiving various threats through social media from the suspect. An investigation is pending.
