Police reports

The Elmhurst Police Department recently reported the following arrests and citations. Persons charged with domestic battery are not named in order to protect the privacy of victims. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a conviction, and that subjects are considered innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. Juveniles age 17-or-younger are not named.

Criminal trespassing, criminal damage

Dec. 4

A complainant at a business in the 900 block of N. York told police that the suspect was sitting in the backseat of a vehicle that does not belong to him. The reporting officer arrived on scene and the suspect was found to be under the influence of alcohol. Medics arrived on scene and the suspect was transported to the Elmhurst Hospital. A trespass notice was issued to the suspect.

Domestic battery, domestic incident, disorderly conduct, disturbance, dispute

Dec. 1

Rodolfo Medrano, 44, of Elmhurst, was charged with attempted disorderly conduct in the 100 block of N. Addison at 6:15 p.m. According to police, a complainant reported the suspect damaged and removed several items from his apartment while moving out. Police said the suspect denies damaging or taking anything that wasn’t hers. During the investigation, it was learned that Medrano allegedly filed a false police report.

A victim in the 400 block of W. Alexander told police at 1:07 p.m. that the suspect had struck her and tried to pull out her earrings. Charges are pending.

Nov. 30

A 41-year-old Elmhurst woman was charged with domestic battery in the 100 block of N. Addison at 10:55 p.m.

DUI, DUI-drugs, transportation of open alcohol, possession of open alcohol, consumption of alcohol by a minor

Dec 4

Cruz Javier Izquierdo-Sanchez, 35, of Berwyn, was charged with DUI and improper parking in the roadway near North and Route 83 at 7:15 a.m.

Dec. 2

Sharon Urry, 74, of Des Plaines, was charged with DUI in the 200 block of S. Route 83 at 1:18 a.m.

Dec. 1

Rafael Ramirez Gaytan, 34, of Lemont, was charged with DUI, no valid driver’s license, illegal transportation of open alcohol, stopping in the roadway and no insurance near St. Charles and Mitchell at 1:25 a.m.

Aaron Redd, 24, of Justice, was charged with aggravated DUI, DUI, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, disobeying a traffic control signal, speeding and no insurance near Route 83 and North at 11:48 p.m.

Fleeing, eluding

According to information provided last week by the Elmhurst Police Department, police reported two incidents of fleeing and eluding during which the driver of a vehicle fled the scene after being stopped for a traffic stop by police.

Identity theft, fraud, forgery

According to information provided by the Elmhurst Police Department, police reported two incidents of identity theft or fraud.

Obstructing identification

Dec. 6

Jonathan D. Vargas-Panchi, 22, of Chicago, was charged with possession of false identification, obstructing identification, driving with no license and disobeying a traffic control device subsequent to a traffic stop near Lake and I-290 at 5:51 a.m.

Possession of cannabis in a vehicle

According to information provided last week by the Elmhurst Police Department, police reported one incident of possession of cannabis by either the driver of a vehicle or a passenger: Yakelyn Mendoza, 21, of Chicago, near Route 83 and North at 1:06 a.m. Dec. 2.

Suspicious incident

A complainant’s daughter in the 300 block of N. Highland observed a male subject standing near the passenger side of their vehicle in the driveway. Once the subject realized he had been noticed, he ran down the driveway towards a silver vehicle and fled the area. The area was checked with no results.

Theft, retail theft, burglary, attempted theft or burglary, forgery, deceptive practice, obstruction, robbery

Dec. 5

A complainant at a company in the 600 block of N. Larch called to report a company trailer was stolen. It was later discovered in Lansing where a suspect was taken into custody. The suspect was charged with possession of stolen property by the Lansing Police Department.

 Dec. 2

Irma Martinez, 40; Silvia Martinez, 48; and Kevin Mendez-Martinez, 20, all of Bensenville, were charged with retail theft at a store in the 300 block of S. Route 83 at 6:46 p.m.

A complainant at a pharmacy in the 100 block of N. Robert Palmer told police three individuals exited the store activating the alarm. The complainant is unsure what items were taken. An investigation is pending.

A victim in the 400 block of S. Fairview told police that after hosting a party at her residence, she could not find her Apple Airpods. An investigation is pending.

Dec. 1

Khlia Wilson, 28, of Chicago, was charged with retail theft at a store in the 900 block of S. York at 2:43 p.m. Police said officers, while on patrol, observed a vehicle wanted by the Oakbrook Police Department for retail theft. Officers made contact with the suspect, who was allegedly was found to be in possession of a bottle of liquor for which he did not pay.

Nov. 30

Police said officers responded to a store in the 300 block of S. Route 83 at 4:01 p.m. for the report of a delayed retail theft. A complainant related the suspects left the store with merchandise without paying. The suspects were in custody at the Lincolnwood Police Department for a retail theft that occurred at their Kohl’s. The reporting officer responded to Lincolnwood to interview the suspects. Charges are pending.

Nov. 15-Dec. 1

A suspect charged several thousands of dollars’ worth of supplies to his former employer’s business account sometime between the above dates. The suspect was taken into custody and was transported to the police station. He was released to the custody of the Downers Grove police. Charges are pending.

Nov. 27-Nov. 28

A victim reported an unknown suspect(s) entered his unsecured vehicle and removed $2 sometime between the above dates.

Dec. 1, 2019-Nov. 13

A victim at Elm Creek Drive reported an unknown suspect(s) entered her storage locker located on the outer deck and removed various dinnerware items sometime between the above dates.

July 28

A victim in the 100 block of N.  Berteau told police that an unknown suspect(s) gained access to his Gemini Crypto account and removed crypto currency. An investigation is pending.

April-June 11

A victim in the 900 block of S. Riverside states an unknown suspect(s) removed several items from her unlocked storage locker sometime between the above dates. An investigation is pending.

Warrant arrest

Dec. 4

Police said Samuel J. Pulli, 28, of Elmhurst, was found to have a valid warrant from the DuPage County Sheriff’s Office in the 100 block of E. First at 11:05 a.m.
