Police Reports

The Elmhurst Police Department recently reported the following arrests and citations. Persons charged with domestic battery are not named in order to protect the privacy of victims. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a conviction, and that subjects are considered innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. Juveniles age 17-or-younger are not named.

Battery

Nov. 28

Police said officers responded to the 800 block of N. Industrial at 8:09 p.m. for a fight in progress. Both parties were separated and transported to Elmhurst Hospital due to their injuries. The suspect was charged via warrant with two counts of aggravated battery and one count of armed violence.

Criminal trespassing, criminal damage

Nov. 27

Police said officers responded to the 800 block of N. Industrial at 9:07 a.m. for the report of a suspicious person. A search of the area yielded no results, but it was found to be a former employee that was previously trespassed. Further investigation is pending.

Nov. 24

A victim in the 100 block of S. Route 83 told police at 11:56 a.m. that when he returned to his vehicle after working out, the rear windshield of his vehicle was shattered by unknown means.

Nov. 23

Daja K. Raper, 21 of Chicago, was charged with criminal trespass to a vehicle and no valid driver’s license in the 200 block of E. Columbia at 8:18 p.m.

Domestic battery, domestic incident, disorderly conduct, disturbance, dispute

Nov. 23

Police said officers responded to the 600 block of W. Armitage at 6:54 p.m. for the report of a domestic battery. Upon arrival, the victim told police that subsequent to a verbal argument, the suspect reportedly pushed the victim causing her to fall into the wall. The suspect refused to exit the house. An investigation is pending.

DUI, DUI-drugs, transportation of open alcohol, possession of open alcohol, consumption of alcohol by a minor

Nov. 28

Kathreen M. Henderson, 75, of Bensenville, was charged with DUI, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and improper lane usage on the above date for an alleged incident that occurred Nov. 16.

Nov. 26

Brenda Burnett, 38, of Country Club Hills, was charged with DUI, unlawful possession of a controlled substance and improper lane usage subsequent to a traffic stop near Lake and Route 83 at 4:21 a.m.

Kyle James, 35, of Bellwood, was charged with DUI, illegal transportation of open alcohol by a driver, speeding, improper lane usage, failure to signal and no insurance subsequent to a traffic stop near York at Columbia at 3:25 a.m.

Ivan Sanchez, 19, of Carol Stream, was charged with DUI, consumption of alcohol by a minor, improper lane usage, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and no insurance near Brush Hill and Salt Creek at 3:43 a.m.

Nov. 24

Valentin Vazquez Montero, 23, of Bensenville, was charged with DUI, illegal transportation of alcohol, improper lane usage and loud excessive noise caused by a muffler subsequent to a traffic stop near York and Lake at 1:05 a.m.

Nov. 23

Ashly T. Dorsey, 34, of Forest Park, was charged with DUI, unlawful use of electronic communication device and carrying a concealed firearm while under the influence, near Addison and North at 1:44 a.m.

Luke Malaga, 20, of Elmhurst, was charged with DUI, consumption of liquor by a minor, and attempt to possess a fraudulent driver’s license near Park and Poplar at 2:38 a.m.

Nov. 22

Javier Lira Gonzalez, 39, of Chicago, was charged with DUI in the 100 block of E. Butterfield at 11:23 p.m.

Fleeing, eluding

According to information provided last week by the Elmhurst Police Department, police reported one incident of fleeing and eluding during which the driver of a vehicle fled the scene after being stopped for a traffic stop by police.

Identity theft, fraud, forgery

According to information provided by the Elmhurst Police Department, police reported two incidents of identity theft or fraud.

Possession of cannabis in a vehicle

According to information provided last week by the Elmhurst Police Department, police reported seven incidents of possession of cannabis by either the driver of a vehicle or a passenger: Javier Velez, 38, of Chicago, near North and Route 83 at 10:08 p.m. Nov. 22; Shawn McCants Jr., 20, near Industrial and York at 11:07 p.m. Nov. 22; Michael J. Garcia, 42, of Melrose Park, near Route 83 and I-290 at 5:11 p.m. Nov. 23; Devaughn A. Green, 29, of Forest Park, near North and Willow at 10:59 p.m. Nov. 25; Jeremy Erazo, 22, of Northlake, near North and West at 12:04 a.m. Nov. 26; Jaliza L. Fontanez, 27, of Villa Park, near St. Charles and Arlington at 5:20 p.m. Nov. 27; and Alynna B. Clay, 18, of Elmhurst, near Garden and Fay at 11:19 p.m. Nov. 27.

Theft, retail theft, burglary, attempted theft or burglary, forgery, deceptive practice, obstruction, robbery

Nov. 28

Joshua Williams, 20, of Chicago, was charged with burglary and aggravated possession of a stolen vehicle in the 300 block of N. Kenilworth at 8:28 a.m. According to police, a victim related that a suspect shattered the rear driver’s side window of their vehicle and stole a backpack. Riverdale police apprehended two suspects in an allegedly stolen vehicle after a traffic crash. An investigation determined the stolen vehicle’s occupant had committed the vehicle burglaries, police said.

Nov. 26

Deiker Perez, 20, and Dayker Perales Lombano, 20, both of Chicago, were charged with burglary and retail theft at a store in the 300 block of S. Route 83 at 6:08 p.m. Police said a complainant related that the suspects took merchandise and exited the store without paying.

 

Nov. 24

Yeison David Elmin, 20, and Frannyer Garcis Saavedra, 22, both of Chicago, were charged with misdemeanor retail theft at a store in the 300 block of S. Route 83 at 6:31 p.m. Police said the suspects concealed several items and exited the store without paying. A reporting officer located the suspects, who were inside their vehicle in the parking lot.

Nov. 10-Nov. 17

A victim in the 400 block of S. Stratford told police that some of his belongings went missing sometime between the above dates after the suspect helped him move boxes away. The suspect was his caregiver assigned by his insurance company. The reporting officer made contact with the suspect, who related he did not take anything from the victim.

Warrant arrest

Nov. 27

Police said Damiane E. Velez, 31, of Crest Hill, was served with an arrest warrant for felony retail theft at 11:17 a.m. on the above date for an alleged incident that occurred July 25 at a store in the 300 block of S. Route 83. Police said a complainant was shopping the store and observed Velez put a large number of clothing items into a cart, walk past the cash register without paying for the items, put all the items into her vehicle and leave the parking lot. An investigation is pending.
