John grew up in Lombard, graduated from Glenbard East HS, the University of Illinois at Chicago with a mathematics major, and earned his MD at Rush University, Chicago. He was a kind, compassionate, generous man, known for his integrity. Above all, he was a family man and an enthusiastic, patient grandpa. He exemplified how to treat others and enjoyed life. John was a highly respected dermatologist who was committed to treating diseases of the skin, truly listened to his patients and was dedicated to their care. He began practicing dermatology in Charleston, IL and in 1986 moved his practice to Oak Brook. He was a founding member of Illinois Dermatology Institute and continued his practice in Hinsdale.
For over 30 years, he taught residents in the dermatology program at Rush University, where he completed medical school and his dermatology residency. He also taught residents in the LaGrange Family Medicine program for 37 years. He received Teacher of the Year awards from both programs. During his career he was a member of many professional organizations in which he also served in various leadership roles, including Great Lakes Dermatology, the Noah Worcester Society, Illinois Dermatological Society, Chicago Dermatological Society, and the American Academy of Dermatology.
