The Addison Historical Museum has announced the completion of its new video entitled, “Addison: Village of Friendship to the Addison Advantage.” The twenty-minute film covers the history of Addison through its founding in the 1830’s as a German Lutheran farming town up to the diverse business and residential community it is today.
The video was created by the Community Relations Department of the Village of Addison. Museum coordinator Susan English researched and wrote the script and selected images to illustrate the narrative. The film is narrated by director of community relations Don Weiss. The video was produced by Mike Tynus, media production coordinator for the Village of Addison.
The video will be shown in the museum’s History Theater space which debuted last year. It will provide visitors with an introductory overview of Addison history. The film will also be made available to the public on the Village’s website at addisonadvantage.org, on its YouTube channel and to local schools.
The Community Relations Department of the Village of Addison would like to thank the Addison Historical Society for providing the majority of historical images utilized for the video.
The Addison Historical Museum is free and open to the public Wednesdays through Fridays from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. and the second Saturday of the month from 12-4 p.m. The museum includes three historic structures: the museum housed in the 1892 Balzer Home, 1893 Century House and 1932 Coach House.
