Charles K. Hudson, beloved Husband, Father, Grandpa, PaPa, Brother and Son departed this earthy life surrounded by loved ones on October 31, 2023 at the age of 91.
Charles was born and raised outside Chicago, married his wife Arlene on July 29, 1950 and together they raised their eight children.
He was a carpenter and built custom homes with his partner, Edward Ryan during the late 70’s early 80’s in the western suburbs of Chicago. He also built his home in Elmhurst where his children grew up and his home in Montello. Charles instilled his knowledge of building into his sons and relatives who continued his legacy of carpentry.
Charles went by a lot of names: Uncle, Charlie, Chow and Mcarty.
Charles was a sportsman; he enjoyed softball, bowling, hunting, fishing, enjoyed playing the lottery games and boating. Charles also enjoyed when the family would gather and celebrate life to the fullest. He would tell you how proud he was of his children and grandchildren and that he lived a great life.
Charles leaves behind his wife of 73 years, Arlene and eight children: Christine (Tim) Gledden, Connie (Steve) Irving, Charles Jr. “Chuck”(Anna), Cal, Craig (Alice), Cherie (Ed) Graff, Charlene (Bob) Fezzuoglio and Chad (Lana). He is also survived by 11 grandchildren: Timmy, Tammy, Serena, Sal, Crystal, David, Nia, Sean, Vanessa, Tegan and Brynn as well as 13 great-grandchildren along with three siblings: Sharon, Roger and Janice and other extended family members.
Charles is preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter, Stephanie and siblings: Henry, William, Margaret, Frank, Marie, Mary, John and Judith.
Charlie was called beloved son by his Savior Jesus Christ, who he dearly loved and the day of his passing he heard, “well done my good and faithful servant.”
A Mass of Christian Burial for Charles Hudson was held on November 7, 2023 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Montello.
There will be a Celebration of Charle’s Life on Saturday, December 2, 2023, at 6:00 PM at Moose Lodge 2350, 328 W. Roosevelt Rd. Lombard, IL 60148.
