The 18th Elmhurst Running Club 4 on the 4th race is set for Tuesday, July 4, stepping off at 7:15 a.m., starting and finishing on Prospect Ave. between Elmhurst University and Wilder Park.
The four-mile event is followed at 8:20 a.m. by a one-kilometer Kids Race for ages 5-12.
“This event brings out runners of all ages and abilities to get their Fourth of July celebrations off to a great start,” race director Bob Richards said. “It’s a fun morning for friends and families from Elmhurst and beyond.”
The 4 on the 4th is a Fourth of July weekend tradition for many participants, and with the largest field expected since before the pandemic, early registration is recommended, Richards said.
The not-for-profit Elmhurst Running Club donates a portion of race proceeds to local charities. For race information and to register, go to 4on4th.com.
