Time for tiaras

The five members of Lombard’s 2023 Lilac Court received their tiaras during a March 13 ceremony at the Maple Street Chapel. Pictured left to right during the recent event are: Princess Maggie LeBeau, Princess Mackenzie Huber, Princess Claire Flanagan, Princess Kianna Becker and Princess Lia DiPasquale. The Lombard Junior Women’s Club (LJWC) presented a tiara, a sash and flowers to each princess during the ceremony. The Lombard Service League provides the tiaras to the Lilac Court each year. The LJWC conducts the annual Lilac Princess Program, which dates back to 1930. Each member of this year’s court briefly wore the original 1930 Lilac Queen crown during the tiara presentation service. One of this year’s princesses will be crowned the 2023 Lilac Queen at the coronation ceremony in Lilacia Park on Saturday, May 6. The current crown, which has been presented to the Lilac Queen for many years, will be retired this year and donated to the Lombard Historical Society. This year’s Lilac Queen will wear a brand new crown, courtesy of the Lombard Service League.
