Lombard/Villa Park obituaries—January 19

CHRISTOPHER M. HENSLEY
Christopher Michael “Papa” Hensley, age 37, of Lombard, Illinois, passed suddenly on Tuesday, January 3, 2023, while visiting Colorado.
He was the loving son of Mary Beth, née Meek, and Gary; beloved brother of Joshua and stepbrother of Terri and Jessica; adored nephew, cousin and uncle to many; and friend to all.
Chris was a true horticulturist. He enjoyed developing cultivation systems, watching the production of crop cycles and helping out during the harvesting season. He even fell in love with a few pigs along the way!
He loved new places and spent the last few years traveling the states. He enjoyed every minute meeting new people and seeing the sights and falling in love with the mountains.
Christopher touched the lives of everyone he met and will be dearly missed. He will be “Gone from our sight, but never from our hearts.”
Memorial gathering will be held at a later date. For more info please call (888) 629-0094 or visit www.brustfuneralhome.com.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the family to be used for a memorial tree at a local park or a memorial brick at Lilacia Park.

DONALD J. PALM
Donald Joseph Palm, known to some as “Don” and to others as “Whiz,” passed away quietly at home in Winona Lake, Indiana, in the early hours of Wednesday, January 11, 2023. He was 88 years old.
Born in Chicago on March 16, 1934, Don was the son of Robert J. Palm and Anne (Jansen) Palm. He spent his formative years there, graduating from Lane Technical High School in 1952 and later furthered his education with IBEW Local 134.
Professionally, Don spent more than 44 years working with the Divane Brothers Electricians – a tenure which is rare to find in building and construction trades. Don was loyal, hardworking and said what was on his mind. He was also a 70 year member of IBEW, a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus and an avid fisherman. He enjoyed working on cars and could fix seemingly anything. He was independent, sometimes bull-headed and loved his family fiercely.
United in marriage to Judith Ann Balfanz on November 27, 1954, Don and Judy spent more than 68 years together before his passing; she survives at home. Also surviving with memories to cherish are four children: Donald (Janine) Palm of Aurora, Illinois, Glenn (Teresa) Palm of North Webster, Robert (Kathy) Palm of Villa Park, Illinois and Loretta (Robert) Paaren of St. Peters, Missouri; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; eight siblings: Doe (Johnny) Bazan, Marge Morrisey, Bob (Linda) Palm, Helen Pearson, Jim (Sharon) Palm, Anne (Gayle) Gilley, Patricia Morrison, Cathy Palm; his sister-in-law Sue Palm; and many, many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Anne; brother, Michael Palm, sister Mary Deja, and four brothers in-law, Glenn Balfanz, Larry Deja, Bob Morrisey and Tom Morrison.
Special thanks to the Kosciusko Hospice Team. In lieu of flowers, Memorials can be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 125 North Harrison, Warsaw, IN 46580.
Titus Funeral Home and Cremation Services are entrusted with Don’s care.
