CAROLYN L. SCHATZ
Carolyn (Carol) L. Schatz, née Bergstrom, longtime Lombardian, passed away peacefully at home on October 4, 2022.
Carol was the dear wife of the late Jack Schatz; loving mother to Barbara (Don) Finnie, Lyn (Dave Fortier) Burton, Kenneth (Paula) Schatz, dear Grandma to Cheryl (Ron) Mika, Jeanette (Eric) Leach, Tami (Sean) Harrison, Georgette Finnie, Brett Finnie, Darryl (Carrie) Burton, Michelle (Lauren) Carli, Steven Burton, Curtis (Samantha) Schatz, Kenny (Ashley) Schatz, and Aubrie (Mike) Schramer; adored great-grandma to Mikayla, Alexis, Jake, Hannah, Jayden, Colin, Ashlynn, Kane, Elliott, Lincoln, Theo, Mckenna, Lily and Gavin; proud great-great grandma to Ezra.
Carol grew up in Villa Park before moving to Lombard in the 1950s where they raised their family. Kenneth Allen Company, Inc. is the family business that Carol built alongside Jack.
The business was Carol’s passion and she enjoyed working alongside
Jack and later her family, mainly as the bookkeeper and accountant but
also helped out wherever was necessary.
Carol loved bowling and competed in numerous leagues throughout
her lifetime.
Carol loyally rooted for the Bears and the Cubs. She also loved to read, going through books quicker than folks could lend them!
Above all else Carol loved spending time with her family. The family lake house in Coal City was a favorite of hers. She could be found there playing “20 cards” with her husband Jack, their friends, and their family.
Carol was fond of celebrating the holidays with family and friends, especially Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Being a Grandma was important to Carol and she enjoyed being
around the grandkids.
She will be truly missed by all who knew her.
Funeral services were held Monday, Oct. 10, followed by interment at Forest Hill Cemetery, Glen Ellyn.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Parkinson’s Foundation, 200 SE 1st Street, Suite 800, Miami, FL 33131 would be appreciated.
