High-speed police chase in Elmhurst early Saturday; Four arrested for car reportedly stolen out of Chicago

Early Saturday morning, Oct. 15, WBBM Newsradio 780 reported that a high-speed chase had taken place in Elmhurst, resulting in the arrest of four people.

According to WBBM, Elmhurst police discovered that a stolen car was in the downtown City Centre area of Elmhurst. The vehicle with four suspects inside fled east on North Avenue, but the car broke down near Clinton Avenue. and Third Street, police said. One suspect was immediately taken into custody, but three fled southbound, running from the car, which had been reported stolen out of Chicago.

Elmhurst police were able to apprehend the other three suspects shortly thereafter. They were identified as black males in their teens, all wearing dark clothing.

Elmhurst police gave a special thanks to the Illinois State Police canine unit which assisted in the chase, as well as a U.S. Postal Service drone, WBBM reported.

Around 2:20 a.m., Elmhurst police posted a warning on social media that residents in the area should remain indoors and keep doors locked. The other three suspects were taken into custody around 3:30 a.m., according to WBBM, and were taken to the Elmhurst police station.
