Dorothy Bridget (Finnegan) Driscoll, 84

Dorothy Bridget Driscoll (nee Finnegan), a 50-year resident of Elmhurst, passed away on September 27, 2022, at the age of 84. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend.

She was born to Walter and Mary Finnegan on October 26, 1937, and grew up in Oak Park. Dorothy graduated from Trinity High School, class of 1955 and attended Rosary College for a short time before marrying James. She had six children that she devoted her life to raising.

Dorothy loved spending time with her family and was incredibly supportive of all her children’s activities throughout their childhoods. She was an avid reader and an excellent piano player. There was always music in the house. Dot always made sure that her children experienced many trips, museum visits and music lessons.

Dorothy is survived by her children, James, Maureen (Kevin) Shick, Thomas (Lynn), Kathleen (Peadar) Hurley and Mary Beth (David) Schmidt. She is also survived by 15 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her beloved son, John, her parents, and her sisters, Mary Therese Bry and Eleanor Warzoha.

She was a loving grandmother to Andrew (fiancé Brittany Larkin), Stephen, Amanda and Shawn (fiancé Clare Palumbo) Driscoll; Kate (Sam) Karch; Claire, Thomas, and Norah Hurley; Kelsey, Courtney and Cole Schmidt; and Callahan (Bret) Walts.

Dorothy was an amazingly strong woman that raised her 6 children on her own. She never hesitated to put the needs of her family before her own. She will also be missed by countless friends and co-workers from Elmhurst Memorial Hospital. A memorial visitation will be held at Gibbons Funeral Home located at 134 S York Rd. in Elmhurst from 3-7 pm on Sunday, October 9, 2022. The funeral will be held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Elmhurst at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, October 10, 2022. Internment: All Saints Cemetery.
