The Elmhurst Police Department recently reported the following arrests and citations. Persons charged with domestic battery are not named in order to protect the privacy of victims. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a conviction, and that subjects are considered innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. Juveniles age 17-or-younger are not named.
Assault, battery
July 1
Police said officers responded to the 400 block of W. Butterfield at 9:44 a.m. for a neighbor dispute and battery. The complainant related he has had an ongoing issue with the suspect who continues to drive over his driveway’s apron. Subsequent to an argument, the complainant related the suspect opened his car door striking him several times. The suspect related the complainant stepped in front of his car door as the suspect was exiting his vehicle. The suspect was served with a no trespass notice.
Criminal damage, criminal defacement
July 2
While patrolling the Addison parking deck at 7:30 a.m., an officer observed a red plastic fire extinguisher case was broken. The broken fire extinguisher case is located on the north side of the third level.
A victim in the 300 block of E. Cayuga told police that on the evening of June 30, the victim woke to three loud bangs, checked the living room and did not see any damage. Upon leaving the residence this morning, the victim observed a circular hole in the center of her living room picture window. The reporting officer did not locate any items which may have caused the damage.
June 30
While on patrol in the 100 block of N. Addison at 7:39 a.m., a reporting officer saw writing in paint in several locations on the seventh floor of the Addison parking deck. The public works department was notified of the damages.
DUI, DUI-drugs, transportation of open alcohol, possession of open alcohol, consumption of alcohol by a minor
July 4
Olivia Wojcik, 33, of Hanover Park, was charged with DUI and no insurance in the 100 block of E. First at 2:50 a.m.
July 3
Sourivanh Nouvong, 43, of Elgin, was charged with DUI and no registration plate on vehicle in the 300 block of S. Rex at 2:13 a.m.
Brayan Velasquez-Chavez, 21, of Carol Stream, was charged with DUI, obstructing identification, improper lane usage, transportation of
open alcohol by a driver and no valid driver’s license subsequent to a traffic stop near North and River Glen at 4:37 a.m. Police said the suspect also was found to have three warrants from DuPage County.
July 2
Michael Lesniak, 22, of Elmhurst, was charged with DUI, improper lane usage, speeding and expired registration subsequent to a traffic stop near St. Charles and Poplar at 1:59 a.m.
July 1
Doroteo Samaniego Morga, 46, of Addison, was charged with DUI and no insurance near Route 83 and Lake at 11:05 p.m. Police said that subsequent to a make your own case call, the suspect’s vehicle was located with the suspect slumped over the wheel on the shoulder of the road.
Fleeing, eluding
According to information provided last week by the Elmhurst Police Department, police reported one incident of fleeing and eluding during which the driver of a vehicle fled the scene after being stopped for a traffic stop by police.
Obstructing
July 7
Myisha Simpson, 27, of University Park, was charged with driving while license suspended, obstructing a police officer, failure to signal and no insurance subsequent to a traffic stop near West and Belden at 12:04 a.m.
July 5
Prince Apraku, 45, of Addison, was charged with obstruction of identification, no valid driver’s license and speeding subsequent to a traffic stop near St. Charles and North at 8:51 a.m. Police said Apraku presented to an officer a driver’s license and identification card that did not belong to him.
Possession of cannabis in a vehicle
According to information provided last week by the Elmhurst Police Department, police reported four incidents of possession of cannabis by either the driver of a vehicle or a passenger: Leontay Camron Taylor, 19, of Carol Stream, near St. Charles and Argyle at 12:34 a.m. July 1; Derek D. Evans, 28, of Maywood, near Grand and Lake at 8:26 p.m. July 4; Darius A. Green, 23, of Berkeley, in the 100 block of N. Addison at 5:39 p.m. July 4; and Jarmarcus Turnage, 33, of Chicago, near West and Belden at 12:04 a.m. July 7.
Suspicious circumstances
July 5
A complainant in the 500 block of S. Berkley reported at 7:10 p.m. that she observed a group of males walk towards her porch. When the complainant confronted them, the group of males ran off towards a gold minivan. The complainant was unable to obtain suspect information at this time.
Theft or burglary/identity theft/fraud/forgery/deceptive practice/obstruction/robbery
July 5
Identity theft was reported in the 500 block of E. Adams at 3:51 p.m. A victim stated that an unknown suspect(s) used his information to open two online bank accounts.
July 1
Fraud was reported in the 500 block of S. Kearsage at 2:52 p.m. A victim reports he was hired by a company on Indeed to do clerical work. The company then sent him a check to purchase supplies and requested he Zelle an unknown person money. The victim deposited the check but did not send them the money. The reporting officer contacted the company and was advised the company was not hiring or associated with Indeed.
Identity theft was reported in the 600 block of Van Auken at 11:15 a.m. A victim told police that an unknown suspect(s) used his personal information to open a fraudulent Comcast Xfinity account.
Attempted burglary to a vehicle was reported in the 900 block of N. Industrial at 1:34 p.m. An unknown suspect was observed working his way through the parking lot with a coat hanger attempting to open vehicle doors. The victim had the only vehicle damaged from the suspect attempting to gain entry. There was damage on the driver’s side door window trim.
June 29-June 30
Theft was reported at Elmhurst University. A complainant related she observed three unknown juveniles driving a campus-owned golf cart around their property. Upon attempting to make contact with the juveniles, they fled through the walkway to Grace Avenue and got into a black SUV. Officers searched the area for the juveniles with no results.

Identity theft was reported in the 500 block of Parkside at 12:46 p.m. A victim related that an unknown person(s) used her banking information in an attempt to complete two fraudulent charges. The victim contacted her bank and the transactions were cancelled.
April 20
Fraud was reported in the 400 block of W. Butterfield at 12:57 p.m. A victim related that an unknown suspect(s) stole her credit card and cash from her wallet. A fraudulent charge was made on the above date and eventually credited to her account. The victim was issued a new credit card.
Unlawful use of a weapon
July 3
Tevarius Robinson, 25, of Country Club Hills, was charged with possession of
cannabis with an intent to deliver, possession of cannabis and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon subsequent to a vehicle crash near Route 83 and North at 1 a.m. Police said Robinson was in possession of a pistol inside the vehicle and was found to be in possession of more than 400 grams of cannabis with an intent to deliver.
Warrant arrest
July 5
Police said that subsequent to a vehicle crash in the 600 block of N. County Line at 11:34 a.m., Paul J. Igyarto, 33, of Lemont, was found to have a warrant out of the DuPage County Sheriff’s Office.

Police said that subsequent to a traffic stop near Route 83 and St. Charles at 9:34 a.m., Yaser Hadidi, 62, of Chicago, was found to have a warrant out of Cicero.
