PALS Chicago Camp returns to Elmhurst University

Thirty-five young people with Down syndrome and their peers will gather at Elmhurst University from July 17 to July 23 for the PALS Chicago camp.

This is the eighth summer that PALS Chicago is being held at Elmhurst University, a partnership that began in 2013. During the week, each partner with Down syndrome is paired with a peer without Down syndrome. Throughout the camp, the pairs will stay in campus accommodations while enjoying activities and experiences on campus and throughout the region. Activities will include field trips to Lincoln Park Zoo and Navy Pier, a lunchtime cruise, and PALS Olympics on campus.

To join PALS Chicago as a peer (a participant without Down syndrome) or medical volunteer (RN/PA/MD/DO), please visit palsprograms.org/participants for more information.

PALS Programs create inclusive camp experiences for people with and without Down syndrome. The volunteer-led programs change attitudes, transform lives, and inspire a world of belonging. Founded in 2004 in Philadelphia, PALS will host programs in 15 locations across the country this summer. Participants in PALS Programs experience radical inclusion while forming lifelong friendships.

“We are so excited to be returning to communities across the country to share our message of connection and belonging at a time when the world needs it the most,” said Jenni Newbury Ross, executive director of PALS Programs.
