The Villa Park Parks and Recreation Department invites residents of all ages to free Thursday-night concerts during June and August at Cortesi Veterans Memorial Park. The park is located at 318 E. Kenilworth Ave. The above photo from the June 9 concert shows Heisenberg Uncertainty Players (HUP), a Chicago area big band that plays original compositions and arrangements from members of the group. The Thursday-night concerts begin at 6:30 p.m. The concession stand opens at 6 p.m. The June 16 concert will showcase the music of Planet Groove, a seven-piece band that includes a three-piece horn section. Planet Groove’s set list will feature music from artists including Stevie Wonder, Chicago and Bruno Mars. Three of the band’s members are graduates of Willowbrook High School. The June 23 concert act is Zydeco Voodoo, a family friendly band that will play a mix of New Orleans music and popular rock and blues songs. The Wayouts, a Chicago-based band that performs rock hits from the 1960s, will take the stage for the final Thursday-night concert of the June series on June 30.
