The Elmhurst Police Department recently reported the following arrests and citations. Persons charged with domestic battery are not named in order to protect the privacy of victims. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a conviction, and that subjects are considered innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. Juveniles age 17-or-younger are not named.
Assault, battery
May 27
A complainant at a business in the 100 block of E. First reported a customer became angry and threatened to harm him. The complainant is familiar with the customer who has come into the store in the past. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate the suspect. The complainant does not wish to pursue charges but wants the suspect served with a no trespass order if located.
Domestic battery, domestic incident, disorderly conduct, disturbance, dispute
June 1
James Penick, 49 (homelsss) was issued a citation for disorderly conduct at the Schiller parking lot at 8 a.m. Police said a reporting officer made contact with Penick who began to collect his belongings to leave. While leaving, he stopped and allegedly began urinating on a garbage can.

Officers responded to the 100 block of E. Crestview at 5:03 p.m. for a report of a domestic dispute. Subsequent to an investigation the suspect was determined to be the initial aggressor, and the victim was acting in self-defense. Both parties sustained visible injuries during the altercation. The suspect was transported to the Elmhurst hospital for treatment. Charges are pending.

Police said officers responded to the above location for a report of a domestic dispute. Upon arrival, the complainant relayed the suspect was highly intoxicated and acting erratic. Neither party alleged to any physical contact during the dispute. Both parties agreed to separate for the evening.

A 26-year-old Storm Lake, Iowa man was charged with two counts of domestic battery in the 300 block of Route 83 in the 300 block of N. Route 83 at 2:47 a.m.

A complainant in the 700 block of N. Geneva reported at 3:28 a.m. the suspect swung and struck her. The suspect reported an argument turned physical when the complainant began to batter him. No arrests were made due to conflicting statements and both parties agreed to separate for the night.

Wilson A. Giron Miguel, 20, of Elmhurst, was cited for possession of alcohol by a minor and dumping trash; Olibert Rolando Cobron-Ruiz, 18 of Bensenville, was
cited for possession of alcohol by a minor; and Jefferson Martinez Gomez, 19, of Bensenville, was cited for disorderly conduct—resisting or obstructing a police officer, possession of cannabis under 21, possession/consumption of alcohol by minor and dumping trash in the 100 block of N. Addison at 9:05 p.m.

Kizzy Moore, 43, of Chicago Heights, was charged with DUI, improper lane usage, disobeying a traffic control signal and no seat belt near North and Route 83 at 9:37 p.m.
Pedro Morales, 48, of Mt. Prospect, was charged with DUI, improper lane usage, illegal transportation of alcoholic liquor and no insurance subsequent to a single-vehicle crash near I-290 and Lake at 12:06 a.m.
Jazzline Sanchez, 26, of Chicago, was charged with DUI, improper lane usage and no insurance subsequent to a traffic stop near Roosevelt and Butterfield at 2:03 a.m.

Julian Brooks, 31, of Romeoville, was issued a citation for possession of open alcohol in a vehicle subsequent to a traffic stop near Lake and Walnut at 1:05 a.m.
Araceli Rojas, 21, of Addison, was issued a citation for possession of open alcohol by a passenger subsequent to a traffic stop near Lake and Walnut at 1:20 a.m.

Frank W. Temple, 19, of Elmhurst, was cited for consumption of alcohol by a minor in the 600 block of S. Hawthorne at 2: 24 a.m.
March 29
Firuq Keliby, 22, of Chicago, was charged with DUI-drugs, improper lane usage and failure to signal subsequent to a traffic stop near Clinton and North at 2:29 a.m.
Fleeing, eluding
According to information provided last week by the Elmhurst Police Department, police reported three incidents of fleeing and eluding during which the driver of a vehicle fled the scene after being stopped for a traffic stop by police.
Possession of cannabis
May 26
Jose Velasquez, 19, of Elmhurst, was charged with possession of cannabis more than 100 grams, unlawful possession of cannabis by a driver, failure to reduce speed to avoid and accident, no insurance and transportation of open alcohol by a driver subsequent to a vehicle crash near North and York at 8:11 p.m.

According to information provided last week by the Elmhurst Police Department, police reported seven incidents of possession of cannabis by either the driver of a vehicle or a passenger: Kevin Armendariz, 19, of Chicago, near Lake and Walnut at 10:42 p.m. May 27; Tatiana Lopez, 23, of Chicago, near Clinton and North at 10:48 p.m. May 27; Jean Manjarrez, 29, of Melrose Park near Lake and Walnut at 11:33 p.m.; Samantha Felix, 25, of Chicago, near North and I-290 at 11:53 p.m. May 27; Marco Roman, 21, of Addison, near Lake and Walnut at 1:20 a.m. May 28; Victor Archundia, 21, of Wood Dale, near Lake and Walnut at 1:30 a.m.; and Ollie Evans IV, 24, of Bellwood, in the 800 block of N. York at 5:15 p.m.
Suspicious circumstances
June 1
Eric T. O’Neal, 28, was issued a citation for trespassing in the 600 block of N. York at 7:15 p.m. Police said responded to the above location for a report of a subject refusing to leave. Upon arrival, the complainant relayed he observed the subject outside the entrance selling candy to customers, and was asked to leave three times, according to police.
May 31
A complainant in the 100 block of N. York told police at 6:43 p.m. the suspect has been following her around school and now to her place of work. The reporting officer spoke with the suspect who agreed to cease further contact with the complainant. The complainant was given information on obtaining an order of protection.

Theft was reported in the 100 block of N. Addison at 8:36 a.m. While on an extra patrol of the Addison parking deck, an officer observed graffiti written on multiple floors of the parking garage and a fire extinguisher missing from its case. The Public Works Department was notified of the damages.

Theft by deception was reported in the 1000 block of Elm Creek. A victim told police that he was contacted via email by an unknown suspect identifying themselves as an Amazon representative. The unknown suspect convinced the victim to buy three Target gift cards. After sending the gift card information, the victim realized this was a scam and contacted his bank.
May 29
Theft by deception was reported in the 100 block of N. York at 5:01 p.m. Police said an unknown suspect entered a store and related he knew the owner and manager and requested money from an employee, stating his cousin was in an accident and he needed the money for the tow truck. The employee gave the suspect money and he left the store southbound on foot. Investigation pending.

Roberto Mercado, 22, of Chicago, was charged with possession of a stolen vehicle, theft and driving while license suspended in the 100 block of N. York at 6:49 p.m.
May 27
Theft was reported in the 600 block of N. West at 12:55 p.m. A victim told police after the suspect visited his home, he was unable to find a bank envelope containing cash. He believes the suspect stole the money because he has loaned the suspect money in the past which has not yet been repaid.
April 1-May 26
A victim in the 200 block of N. Bonnie Brae reports she lost a bag containing her Illinois driver’s license, Social Security card and a debit card. Since then, an unknown suspect(s) opened a T-Mobile account in her name and made mobile deposits and withdrawals on her bank account. The driver’s license was placed into LEADS.

Theft by deception was reported in the 100 block of N. Evergreen. A victim purchased gift cards after receiving a fraudulent text message from someone claiming to be from Amazon sometime between the above dates.
May 23
Identity theft was reported in the 100 block of Linden at 10:20 a.m. A victim reports an unknown suspect made a withdrawal from her Chase Bank account.
May 9
Commercial burglary was reported in the 900 block of N. Oaklawn at 3:38 p.m. A victim reports an unknown suspect opened their overhead garage door. The suspect then removed a Milwaukee Band Saw and Right Angle Grinder Kit. This case is pending further investigation.
Nov. 27, 2021
Identity theft was reported in the 200 block of N. Ridgeland. A victim reports that an unknown person(s) used his personal information to open a Comcast Xfinity account. An investigation is pending.
Theft of catalytic converters
According to information provided last week by the Elmhurst Police Department, police reported one incident of a catalytic converters being removed and stolen from a vehicle at the following location: at a business in the 200 block of N. York sometime between May 21 and May 24.

May 26
Joel Jimenez, 30, of Chicago, was charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, unlawful use of a weapon, possession of a firearm without a FOID, possession of ammunition, possession of cannabis, driving while license suspended and speeding subsequent to a traffic stop near York and Grantley at 8 a.m.
