Saturday, June 4

• From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., White Pines Golf Club in Bensenville is holding a Callaway Fitting Day at the Club’s driving range. To register, visit WhitePinesGolf.com/event/callaway-fitting-days

• Starting at 2 p.m., Elmhurst Heritage Foundation brings the Vintage Baseball Game to the Elmhurst University Mall Enjoy a throwback competition played by the rules of the 1850’s. Free and open to the public. Bring lawn chairs, picnics; free parking available on campus.

Saturday, June 11

From 6 – 8 p.m., pre-sale, discounted tickets to the Elmhurst Heritage Foundation’s 7th annual Craft Beer Fest will be available for purchase at Pints, 112 S. York Road.  General admission tickets (1-6 p.m.) be sell for $35 and early entry tickets (12-6 p.m.) for $45. Both are $5 off the “early bird” rate.   Regular ticket sales will begin Friday, July 1 online at elmhurstcraftbeerfest.com.

 

Sunday, June 12

• From 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., a Sunday Summer Barbeque hosted by Artis Senior Living at 123 W. Brush Hill Road. All are invited for a backyard barbecue, with food, drinks and company provided. Rain or shine — should it rain, it will be moved inside. Please bring a lawn chair. RSVP by Sunday, June 5 by calling 630-359-3113 or sending a text to Jamie at 312-543-5158.

• From 2 – 3 p.m., first person presenter Laura Keyes will recount the history of Laura Ingalls Wilder in a special presentation at the Churchville One-Room Schoolhouse, 3N784 Church Rd., Bensenville. Discover the times, places, and people who inspired her books as well as hardships and tragedies. Appropriate for ages 10+ due to seriousness of subject matter. Fee: $5/person. Monday, June 13

At 10 a.m., there will be free Medicare education for those who are turning 65 or for people who would like additional information outside of the Medicare open enrollment period in the fall. It will be held at the Elmhurst American Legion Post THB #187 located at 310 W. Butterfield Road. 1-800-205-5176 RSVP appreciated but not required.

Sunday, June 19

On Father’s Day, beginning at 5 p.m., bring the whole family to White Pines Golf Club in Bensenville for an evening of Family Golf, when tees are moved up and players can play at their own pace while enjoying hot dog, chips and a drink for just $3. Fees: $5 for ages 17 and younger; $10 for adults. Carts: $10 per cart for players; $10 per person for non-playing cart-riders.

Monday, June 20

The Chicago Accordion Club meets on the third Monday of every month from 6 to 9:30 p.m. at the Elmhurst American Legion, 310 W. Butterfield Rd.  Visitors are welcome.  Every meeting fee includes professional musical entertainment and pizza.  Admission is $12 for members and $15 for non-members.

Saturday, June 25

From 1 – 4 p.m., families are invited the Elmhurst Art Museum to discover the exciting world of butterflies through activities like creating an artistic booklet, drawing inspiration from symmetry, and more. Guests who complete four different hands-on activities win a special prize. Free with museum admission, registration required at elmhurstartmuseum.org.

Sunday, June 26

From 1-2:30 p.m., join Elmhurst-based architect Erica Blawat on an architectural walking tour of the surprisingly architecturally rich City of Elmhurst—the only city with houses by Frank Lloyd Wright and Mies van der Rohe. Blawat provides historic context and fun facts about architectural gems by Wright, Mies, Walter Burley Griffin, R. Harold Zook, Dirk Lohan, and more. Free with museum admission, registration required at elmhurstartmuseum.org. This program will be repeated on Saturday, Aug. 13 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Monday, June 27

From 11 a.m. – 3 p.m., the Elmhurst History Museum offers Museum Maker Monday, when kids are invited to drop in and explore exhibits, play games, make crafts, and bring a picnic to enjoy outdoors, weather permitting. This Monday features a Paper Plate Pizza craft project (while supplies last). Appropriate for elementary age children accompanied by an adult. Free, no registration required. The museum is located at 120 E. Park Ave.

 

Tuesday, June 28

General Primary Election takes place. Early voting is available at the DuPage Fairgrounds, as of May 19. Beginning June 13, 22 more Early Voting sites will be open.

Monday, July 4

The Elmhurst Running Club 17th 4 on the 4th and Kids 1K (for ages 5-12) will step off at 7:15 a.m., with the Kids 1K starting at 8:20 a.m. Both races start and finish on Prospect Ave. between Elmhurst University and Wilder Park. The 4-mile goes through neighborhoods and into City Centre before returning to the finish area. The Kids Race goes up and down Prospect.     Register at  4on4th.com.

• By All Accounts: The Story of Elmhurst

Experience local history through an award-winning exhibit about how the City of Elmhurst grew and developed over the years, including a history of the Glos Mansion and family. Elmhurst History Museum, 120 E. Park Ave., Elmhurst.

ENDS June 5: The Elmhurst History Museum at 120 E. Park Ave. in downtown Elmhurst, will use an archaeological lens to gain a deeper understanding of the vibrant Native cultures and communities of the earliest inhabitants in their latest exhibit, People of the Prairie: 12,000 Years in DuPage County.
