The Elmhurst Police Department recently reported the following arrests and citations. Persons charged with domestic battery are not named in order to protect the privacy of victims. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a conviction, and that subjects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Juveniles age 17-or-younger are not named.
Criminal damage, criminal trespass
April 28-May 16
Police said unknown person(s) entered an unlocked, unoccupied commercial rental property in the 100 block of N. Addison. The suspects threw several furniture pieces
around the room, breaking a TV, vases, lamps and furniture. A gallon of black paint was thrown on the walls and floor.
April 2-May 15
A complainant at a food store in the 100 block of E. Schiller reports there have been several incidents of juveniles, sometimes in groups, damaging store merchandise and playing in the parking lot causing a disturbance. The complainant was advised to call 911 should he experience any further issues.
May 11-May 12
A reporting officer met with a complainant who reported an unknown suspects(s) damaged a display screen above the elevator in the 100 block of N. Addison between the above dates.
May 1-May 12
A victim in the 200 block of E. Madison reported that an unknown suspect(s) damaged a front window of her residence sometime between the above dates.
May 9
While on patrol in the 300 block of S. Route 83 at 5:26 a.m., a reporting officer observed a Do Not Enter sign knocked over on the St Charles Road side of a store. The Public Works Department was notified and removed the damaged pole.
Domestic battery, domestic incident, disorderly conduct, disturbance, dispute
May 16
Police said officers responded to the 200 block of S. Fair at 10:45 p.m. for the report of a domestic. The reporting officer met with the complainant who reported there was an argument between her
and the suspect and he pushed her. There was no indication of injuries and both parties agreed to separate for the evening.
May 12
Ramon Rodriguez, 41, of Bensenville, was charged with DUI, possession of open alcohol by driver and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident subsequent to a single vehicle crash near Lake and Grand at 7:37 p.m.

Tishara Ragland, 19, of Willowbrook, was charged with zero tolerance under age 21, possession of a fictitious driver’s license, possession of cannabis by a driver, illegal transportation of open alcohol, speeding and no insurance subsequent to a traffic stop near Route 83 and Roosevelt at 12:19 a.m.
May 14
Isaiah R. De La Cruz, 25, of Elgin, was charged with open alcohol in vehicle and possession of cannabis by Driver in the 100 block of S. Prospect at 12:56 a.m.
Jonathan Hernandez, 20, of Harwood Heights, was charged with DUI, improper lighting, improper lane usage and unlawful possession of alcohol by a minor subsequent to a traffic stop near North and Willow at 11:04 p.m.
Harassment, threats
Nov. 16, 2021-May 16
A victim in the 300 block of W. Lake reports that he believes a subject at work has been harassing him for the past six months. The victim informed his company’s human resources department of
this as well. The suspect was contacted and denied the harassment. The suspect stated he will have no further contact with the victim.
Possession of cannabis in a vehicle
The Elmhurst Police Department said last week that the following individuals were issued citations for possession of cannabis by either a driver or a passenger in a vehicle: Miguel Ordaz-Arreola, 24, of Stone Park, near Myrtle and North at 7:29 p.m. May 13; Isaac Figueroa, 18, of Melrose Park, near North and Berteau at 11:05 p.m.; Jonathon K. Polk, 28, of Forest Park, near York and Lake at 6:41 a.m. May 15.
Possession of a controlled substance
May 12
Barbara Schroeder, 45, of Lombard, was charged with two counts of unlawful possession of a controlled substance, while Klaire Kobernus, 45, of Villa Park, was issued a citation for illegal transportation of alcohol subsequent to a traffic stop near West and Utley at 10:52 p.m.
Suspicious circumstances
May 15
A complainant was picked up by a taxi service and dropped off at O’Hare Airport for an out-of-town trip. The taxi driver requested permission to take a photo of their home because he liked their house. The complainant gave permission but thought it odd as his home is an average two-story home. The taxi driver was contacted and stated he took the photo so he could build the same house in his home country.
May 13
An officer responded to a liquor store in the 600 block of W. St. Charles at 11:25 a.m. for a report of a male subject who had fallen in the store and appeared to be intoxicated. The subject went to his gray SUV and left the scene. The victim was located at his residence and appeared to have sustained injuries. The victim appeared to be intoxicated and denied being at the above location. Medics arrived on scene and transported the victim to Elmhurst Hospital for treatment.
Theft or burglary/identity theft/fraud/forgery/deceptive practice/obstruction/robbery
May 18
Laquann King, 26, of Chicago, was charged with retail theft, while Kianna McWilliams, 23, of Chicago, was charged with retail theft and obstructing identification at a liquor store in the 900 block of S. York at 2:39 p.m. Police said the suspects removed two bottles of liquor valued at $160 and left the store without paying.
May 9-May 16
Theft from a vehicle was reported between the above dates. A victim reports her license plates were stolen from her vehicle which was parked at an auto dealership in the 700 block of W. Grand.
May 15
Rashad Oliver, 30, of Lombard, was charged with retail theft at a pharmacy in the 100 block of W. North at 3:33 a.m. According to police, a complainant told police Oliver concealed a bottle of liquor and exited the store without paying.
Theft of lost or mislaid property was reported at a food store in the 100 block of E. Schiller at 3:03 p.m. A victim reports she lost her wallet inside the store. The wallet contained her Illinois driver’s license and state ID, numerous credit cards, and cash. An
unknown suspect(s) then attempted to use her credit card at Sam’s Club and Walmart in Addison. The license and ID were entered into LEADS.
April 19-May 14
Identity theft was reported in the 400 block of N. Maple at 5:38 p.m. A victim reports she received a debit card and credit card in the mail for which she did not apply. The victim did not activate either card and has frozen her credit.
May 13
Theft was reported at an ice cream shop in the 100 block of N. York at 5:45 p.m. A complainant reported an unknown suspect described as a white female took an ice cream cake from the freezer section and left the business without paying. The complainant stated the suspect had a small child with her and left the business on foot walking northbound on York Road. This case is pending investigation.
May 11
Theft of vehicle parts was reported at Elmhurst Hospital at 10:40 p.m. A victim reported an unknown suspect(s) gained entry to his vehicle while it was parked in the lot of the hospital. The victim stated the rear license plate was removed and tools were taken from inside of the vehicle. This case is pending investigation.
April 26-May 9
Identity theft was reported in the 100 block of S. York. A victim reports unknown suspect(s) used her credit card information to complete several fraudulent charges sometime between the above dates.
April 18
Identity theft was reported in the 400 block of W. Avery at 11:28 a.m. A victim reported that an unknown suspect(s) purchased three cellphones, an Apple Watch, and an iPad at an AT&T store in Chicago without the complainant’s authorization. This case is pending investigation.
Theft of catalytic converters
According to information provided last week by the Elmhurst Police Department, police reported two incidents of catalytic converters being removed and stolen from vehicles at the following locations: the 200 block of W. Brush Hill between May 16 and May 17; and at a school in the 100 block of S. Prospect at 1:39 p.m. May 17.
Unemployment benefits identity theft
According to information provided last week by the Elmhurst Police Department, police reported no incidents of identity theft in which a victim’s personal information was used to fraudulently file for unemployment benefits.
Warrant arrest
May 16
Police said Shazsha Alvarez, 30, of Melrose Park, was found to be wanted out of Alsip near York and Fremont at 4:26 p.m.
Police said Brianna Ellis, 27, of Chicago, turned herself in on a warrant in the 100 block of E. First at 12:53 p.m.
Police said officers responded to the Elmhurst Hospital emergency room at 10:37 a.m. for Justin M. Tackett, 28, of Streamwood, who was taken into custody on a warrant.
