The Elmhurst Police Department recently reported the following arrests and citations. Persons charged with domestic battery are not named in order to protect the privacy of victims. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a conviction, and that subjects are considered innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. Juveniles age 17-or-younger are not named.
Criminal damage, criminal trespass
May 3-May 4
An unknown suspect(s) spray-painted several areas at the Addison Parking Garage sometime between the above dates.

April 29
A victim told police that subsequent to a traffic altercation near Route 83 and North at 5:29 p.m., the suspect exited his vehicle, approached the victim’s car, struck the driver’s side window with his hand, and spat on the victim’s vehicle.
DUI, DUI-drugs, transportation of open alcohol, possession of open alcohol, consumption of alcohol by a minor
May 3
Pablo Gonzalez, 31, of Brownsville, Texas, was charged with no valid driver’s license, illegal transportation of open alcohol and no registration subsequent to a suspicious vehicle near St. Charles and Poplar at 8:15 p.m.
Posha Hughes, 37, of Chicago, was charged with DUI, illegal stopping in the roadway and illegal transportation of open alcohol near Route 83 and North at 7:48 p.m.
May 2
Amanda Lopez, 24, of Lombard, was charged with DUI-drugs, illegal transportation of cannabis by driver, improper lighting, improper lane usage and no seat belt subsequent to a traffic stop near North and Villa at 8:36 p.m.
Fleeing, eluding
According to information provided last week by the Elmhurst Police Department, police reported two incidents of fleeing and eluding in which drivers of a vehicle reportedly fled after a traffic stop or attempted traffic stop was conducted.
Harassment, threats
May 4
A reporting officer met with a victim and her son in the 700 block of S. York who reported a known suspect became verbally aggressive towards her. The victim stated the suspect has a history of abusive behavior and is allowed court-supervised child visitation. The victim wished to document the incident for court purposes.
Possession of cannabis in a vehicle
The Elmhurst Police Department said last week that the following individuals were issued citations for possession of cannabis by either a driver or a passenger in a vehicle: Carlos I. Arias, 38, of Elmhurst, near West and North at 2:20 p.m. April 30; and Ismael Rivera, 23, of Berwyn, near York and Lake at 11:27 p.m. April 30.
Suspicious circumstances
March 31-May 2
A complainant in the 600 block of W. Belden told police that while exchanging belongings, the suspect placed a tracking device, “Air Tag” in her vehicle. The suspect admitted he had put the device in the complainant’s vehicle. An investigation is pending.
April 30
While on patrol near North and Villa at 1:32 p.m., a reporting officer observed a vehicle which was displaying a license plate that did not belong to the vehicle. The vehicle pulled into a parking lot of a cell phone repair store and the driver exited, entering the business. When the reporting officer entered the business in an attempt to speak with the driver, the store owner advised the driver of the vehicle had entered the business and seemed nervous; he left the store in an unknown direction. The vehicle’s registration plate was removed and entered into LEADS.
April 29
While doing yard work in her backyard in the 700 block of Eastland, a complainant located a black handgun. The handgun was placed into evidence.
Oct. 1, 2021-April 29
A complainant in the 300 block of E. Webster told police that during the past six months, she has found shards of glass throughout her property and driveway which caused flat tires on her vehicles. An investigation is pending.
April 28
A victim in the 100 block of W. Park reported at 10:04 p.m. that three unknown juveniles threw a water bottle at his vehicle striking the rear passenger side. The victim stated the unknown juveniles ran southbound through an alley. The victim stated there was no damage but wanted the incident documented.
Theft or burglary/identity theft/fraud/forgery/deceptive practice/obstruction/robbery
May 1-May 2
Identity theft was reported in the 300 block of S. Arlington at 11:17 a.m. A victim reports she gave her personal information to what she thought was a text message from UPS. The victim now has unauthorized purchases on her debit card. The bank has been reversing the charges and the victim flagged her accounts with the credit bureaus.
April 28-May 2
Theft was reported in the 400 block of W. Butterfield. A complainant relates they observed the victim’s wallet being removed from the victim’s rolling walker. The victim later stated he was missing money from inside the wallet. An investigation is pending.
April 30
Attempted identity theft was reported in the 800 block of N. York at 6:46 p.m. A victim states she received an email from Bank of America approving a balance transfer that was not authorized. The bank stopped the transfer. There was no monetary loss.
April 29
Theft was reported at an entertainment center in the 300 block of W. Lake at 11:09 p.m. A victim told police while at the center, they set their Samsung Galaxy cellphone down on a table near the basketball courts, and when they returned, the phone was missing.
April 28
Theft by deception was reported near I-290 and York at 6:07 p.m. A reporting officer met with the victim who stated she stopped to assist a motorist on the side of the road. The victim stated an unknown male suspect approached her vehicle and was attempting to sell jewelry to the victim. The victim paid for a large gold chain and two rings. The victim drove off but was followed by the suspect to a parking lot where the suspect again approached her vehicle and requested more money. The victim did not provide any more money and the suspect left the area in an unknown direction.
April 19-April 28
Identity theft was reported in the 400 block of S. Hawthorne at noon. A victim reported five unauthorized transactions were made on her U.S. Bank account sometime between the above dates.
April 26
Deceptive practice was reported in the 400 block of Cottage Hill at 11:35 a.m. A victim told police he received a letter from a company requesting him to perform services for the company as a mystery shopper and he would receive a check to be deposited into his bank account. He was told he would be compensated for purchasing gift cards. The check did not clear and the victim is out the money spent on the gift cards.
April 23-April 26
Theft was reported in the 100 block of Euclid. A complainant noticed a diamond ring was missing from the victim’s finger. This is the second ring to be reported missing within two weeks.
Theft of catalytic converters
According to information provided last week by the Elmhurst Police Department, police reported one incident of catalytic converters being removed and stolen from vehicles at the following location: a business in the 600 block of N. Walnut on April 28 (four vehicles).
Tax return identity theft
According to information provided last week by the Elmhurst Police Department, police reported one incident of identity theft with the intention of using a victim’s personal information to fraudulently file a tax return.
Unlawful use of a weapon
May 1
Johnny Manning, 32, of Bellwood, was charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and possession of ammunition without a FOID card in the 400 block of W. Lake at 2:57 a.m. Police said that subsequent to a suspicious vehicle, officers observed a black Smith and Wesson handgun along with cannabis in plain view inside the vehicle. Officers made contact with Manning, who was a guest at a hotel. Police said Manning admitted to having cannabis and a firearm inside the vehicle without possessing a valid FOID card.
Warrant arrest
April 29
Police said that subsequent to the report of a suspicious person, Jason L. Wilson, 41, of Lombard, was found to be in possession of four crack pipes and cocaine and had two warrants from the DuPage County Sheriff’s Office. A second suspect was found to be in possession of controlled substance pills, according to police. Both suspects were taken into custody and transported to the police station. Wilson was charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, obstructing identification and criminal trespass to land, and
transported to the DuPage County Jail. Suspect #2 was released without charges, pending lab results of the pills found in her possession.
