The Elmhurst Police Department recently reported the following arrests and citations. Persons charged with domestic battery are not named in order to protect the privacy of victims. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a conviction, and that subjects are considered innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. Juveniles age 17-or-younger are not named.

April 18
A complainant in the 100 block of Addison advised at 2:08 p.m. that three emergency flood light units were damaged and removed from the Addison Street parking deck.
Domestic battery, domestic incident, disorderly conduct, disturbance
April 19
A 43-year-old Elmhurst man was charged with two counts of domestic battery in the 400 block of N. West at 6:41 p.m. Officers responded to the above location for an unknown medic assist. Upon arrival, the victim related the suspect had hit her multiple times.
April 16
James Millins, 19, of Elmhurst, was charged with consumption of alcohol by a minor, disorderly conduct, attempted possession of fraudulent identification and obstructing an officer subsequent to a report of Millins allegedly attempting to enter a victim’s residence in the 700 block of S. Swain at 2:34 a.m.
A 32-year-old Elmhurst man was charged with domestic battery, interfering with a 9-1-1 call and criminal damage to property in the 500 block of W. St. Charles at 4:19 p.m. Police said the victim had visible injuries and reported the suspect broke her cell phone.
April 14
A 55-year-old Villa Park man was charged with domestic battery in the 300 block of E. Crescent at 7:28 p.m. Police said it was discovered the suspect pushed the victim to the ground.

April 17
Jimmy Lopez, 35, of Melrose Park, was charged with DUI, improper lane usage and speeding subsequent to a traffic stop near North and Emory at 2:44 a.m.
April 15
Jonathon F. Niewinski, 28, of Villa Park, was charged with aggravated battery, DUI, possession of cannabis in a vehicle, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, leaving the scene of an accident, unlawful transportation of open alcohol, resisting arrest, driving while license revoked and no insurance in the 300 block of E. First at 7:16 p.m.
April 14
Jihan Mc Crary, 40, of Wood Dale, was charged with DUI, two counts of endangering the health or life of a child, possession of open alcohol by a driver and possession of cannabis by a driver subsequent to a well being check in the 100 block of W. North at 7:33 p.m.
Harassment, threats
April 17
A victim in the 100 block of N. Michigan reports receiving numerous phone messages from the suspect who is an ex-boyfriend of the victim. The victim also saw the suspect at her apartment building. The reporting officer attempted to contact the suspect with no results.
Possession of cannabis in a vehicle
The Elmhurst Police Department said last week that the following individuals were issued citations for possession of cannabis by either a driver or a passenger in a vehicle: Jonathan A. Kasallis, 23, near North and Illinois at 10:19 a.m. April 14; Jonathan Perez, 30, near Route 83 and North at 3:51 p.m. April 14; and, Antonio Hernandez, 21, of Berwyn, near Oak and York at 10 p.m. April 16.
Suspicious circumstances
April 16
A homeowner in the 500 block of S. Berkley reported at 4 p.m. he found three handguns which were left behind by a previous tenant. The handguns were recovered by the reporting officer and submitted to the property officer for safekeeping for the owner to pick up.
April 15
A victim in the 300 block of Oaklawn told police at 1:27 a.m. he and the suspect were supposed to go out on a date on April 14, and the suspect requested money from the victim so she could pay her babysitter. The victim complied and sent the suspect money. The suspect kept asking for additional money and again the victim complied. After sending the money, the victim realized it might be a scam and reported the incident to officers. The reporting officer was able to contact the suspect who agreed to return the money to the victim.

April 19-April 20
Burglary to a vehicle as reported in the 500 block of N. West. A complainant relates unknown person(s) shattered the driver’s side rear window of his white Ford Pickup and removed a Ditchwitch locator/monitor sometime between the above dates.
April 3-April 20
Theft was reported in the 100 block of S. Prospect. A victim was messaged on Instagram by an unknown subject “GIANNA” multiple times. The subject gave the victim four checks to deposit into her account and asked the victim to send her cash back. The victim sent money to the suspect and was notified by the bank the checks were fraudulent.
Aug. 28, 2021-April 19
Theft was reported at a store in the 700 block of S. Route 83. A complainant related the suspect rented a 19-foot scissor lift back in August of 2021 and has not returned the item. A message was left for the suspect to contact the
reporting officer.
April 18
Sean A. Bitto, 38, of Chicago, was charged with two counts of retail theft at a store in the 900 block of S. York at 6:28 p.m. A complainant related that Bitto concealed two bottles of liquor and exited the store without paying, according to police.
Attempted residential burglary was reported in the 400 block of Elmcrest at 9:22 a.m. Officers responded for an alarm at the above location. Upon arrival, a window was found to have been shattered. A white fence to the backyard also had two planks
kicked out. A neighbor stated she observed a suspect described as either a white or Hispanic male wearing a black coat and mask in a blue Chevrolet Equinox in the area. The house and area were checked with no results.
April 17
Retail theft was reported at a pharmacy in the 100 block of W. North at 12:32 a.m. reporting officer met with the complainant who reported two unknown suspects stole several bottles of liquor and left the store in a black older model SUV. One of the suspects was described as a black male between 30 and 40 years old. The other suspect was described as a white female between 40 and 50 years old.
Burglary to a vehicle was reported in the 300 block of W. Lake at 2:39 p.m. A reporting officer met with the victim who reported an unknown suspect(s) removed her purse from the trunk of her vehicle. Video shows the suspect backed in next to the victim’s vehicle, opened his trunk, removed the purse from the victim’s vehicle, placed it in the trunk of his vehicle and drove away. This case is pending investigation.
April 16
Retail theft was reported at a pharmacy in the 100 block of W. North at 1:27 p.m. A caller reported observing a suspect discarding security boxes in the parking lot. The reporting officer located four empty security boxes belonging to the pharmacy lying on the ground in the parking lot. An investigation is pending.
March 26-April 16
Burglary was reported in the 200 block of N. Addison. A victim reports an unknown suspect broke into his storage locker and removed numerous bottles, a drill, batteries, and a charger sometime between the above dates.
April 15
Identity theft was reported in the 200 block of N. Glenview at 1:51 p.m. A victim related an unknown suspect used his personal information and opened a fraudulent Verizon account.
Identity theft was reported in the 100 block of Fellows at 3:14 p.m. A victim related an unknown suspect used her personal information to fraudulently file income taxes with the IRS.
April 14
Retail theft was reported at a store in the 900 block of S. York at 8:47 p.m. Police said officers responded to the above location for a report of a retail theft that just occurred. Upon arrival, the complainant related that an unknown suspect described as a white male between 20 and 30 years old exited the store with multiple Claritin and Nexium products that he did not pay for.
Retail theft was reported at a store in the 900 block of S. York at 11:38 p.m. Upon police arrival, a complainant related three unknown suspects left the store with a cart full of liquor. The suspects left in an unknown direction. This case is pending investigation. The suspects were described as one black male and two black females.
Attempted deceptive practice was reported in the 600 block of W. Lorraine at 12:26 p.m. A victim told police that she received a phone call from an unknown suspect who posed as a Medicare employee. The suspect asked the victim for her Medicare number which the victim provided. The victim checked her Medicare account and has not found any fraudulent activity. She will continue to monitor her account.
April 1-April 11
Burglary to a vehicle was reported in the 200 block of N. Addison. A victim reports an unknown suspect(s) entered his parked vehicle and removed a box containing a Lenovo laptop.
April 1
Theft was reported at a store in the 100 block of Route 83 at 4:11 p.m. A victim related while at the store, she took off her ring and placed it on the sink in the store and tried on different lotions. After returning home, she realized she forgot her ring and contacted the store. Employees searched for the ring but were unable to locate it.
Nov. 24, 2021
Identity theft was reported in the 700 block of S. Hillside. A victim reports that an unknown suspect(s) used his information to open a Verizon phone account.
Theft of catalytic converters
According to information provided last week by the Elmhurst Police Department, police reported two incidents of catalytic converters being removed and stolen from vehicles at the following locations: the 800 block of S. Route 83 between Feb. 19 and April 16; and the 700 block of N. Industrial at 8:12 a.m. April 20.
